Wow, I can't believe it's over! I have been anticipating the final installment of the Elementals series since the end of the first book. These characters have grown so much since we first met them, but I was invested in their fate from the very beginning.

This is one of the most fast paced and action packed YA fantasy series that I have ever read. Each book is like a short action movie that keeps you glued to your seat until you reach the end. Michelle Madow may want to consider writing movie scripts, because I think she would be phenomenal at it.

Elementals 5: The Hands of Time picks up where every book in this series does, right where the last one left off. I love that, because we never have to miss one moment of the action. After obtaining everything they need to stop Typhon from rising and the portal to Kerberos from being opened, the elementals are faced with a heartbreaking decision that will require the ultimate sacrifice. Nicole, Blake, Chris, Kate, and Danielle have consistently given their all, and never quit despite the seemingly insurmountable odds they have been faced with. What happens when that's not good enough? What happens when you really are out of options and you are forced to make a choice that will change someone's life forever?

What an awesome journey we have been on over the course of the 5 books in this series! It certainly has been a long, perilous, and exhilarating adventure. This amazing group has traveled throughout our world, into other dimensions, and even through time.

I enjoyed watching these kids grow into the heroes they were destined to be. None of the characters are perfect by any means. They have realistic human reactions, emotions, desires, and faults. That is part of what makes them relatable, and in a book full of fantastical things, it's nice to still be able to relate to the characters.

The end of this series left me with a smile on my face, but it was also bittersweet. I am glad to see the way everything turned out, but I am sad to say goodbye at the same time. :(  All in all, the author delivered a satisfying conclusion without leaving anything hanging. If you are a fan of YA fantasy, this is a must read!!

The Hands of Time is the fifth and final book in the Elementals series by Michelle Madow. The book picks up right where the action left the readers in the fourth book in the series, The Portal to Kerberos. The entire series is a fast paced young adult fantasy adventure heavily based on Greek Mythology.

In this series we have been introduced to five teens who have elemental powers and have been sent on an adventure to close the portal to Kerberos and save the world. Each book has led to a high intensity action packed adventure along their journey with this latest being no exception to that.

At book five there isn't much left for me to say about this series other than wow, what a great way to end it all. I've really enjoyed reading the entire series and love the adventures in each of the books based on Greek Mythology as the group tried to save the world. Still would definitely recommend giving this series a try.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author.

This review MAY contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.

I remember reading the first four books in this series and liking them well enough. This book, the final book of this series, did not have the same effect on me that the first books did. I don't know if I have grown as a reader or if my expectations have just become fastidious and refined over time. Perhaps both. While I was glad to find out the conclusion of this series, I did not much enjoy the journey.

The most positive thing about this book is the premise. The author has molded mythology with the supernatural to develop her own brand of fantasy. In this series, witches are descendants of the ancient Greek gods and goddesses. So this touches on both mythology elements and those of magic. I think that this is very creative, and I have not read or heard of any other books that have these combined elements. I am always a stickler for creative story foundations.

The entire book felt too rushed. The characters were always rushing off to do things without much thought. There is not really much time to get to know the characters or have any character growth with so much action. The characters felt very flat and I did not connect with any of them. I was reading this story, but I did not care what happened because the characters were so dull.

The dialogue was very stiff. It sounded more like a textbook than people actually having conversations in today's society. Some of the words that were used sounded too proper and many of the dialogues felt forced. And every time some of the characters did something, there was always a point made that these happenings are told to the other characters. I felt that it was unnecessary to continuously declare that character A explained to character B everything that happened to her while they were apart.

The story was way too predictable. The foreshadowing was not executed very well at all. I could see what was about to happen from a mile away. The storytelling felt very amateur.

The final scene at the end of the book was very emotionless. Everything had been building up to this final moment, and then the moment just came and went. It happened in the blink of an eye and there was no struggle at the end at all. I was rather disappointed. I was expecting more of an ending.

Overall, I have to give snaps for the premise but the storytelling needs some work. This book felt like fluff to me. The characters were lifeless and I felt bored with the story. If you are a fan of fast-paced fluffy reads then this may suit you, but it did not work for me. I will still give Madow's other books a shot and see where they will take me. This is her first series, so I can only imagine that her writing skills will improve the more she writes.

An amazing greek mythology retelling series. Perfect for the fans of Percy Jackson. Even though the first book started out kind of slow, I am super glad that I continue on. This series is just so much fun and exciting. I cannot put it down and end up finishing the entire series within a week. The character development was wonderful too. Overall it was a great read.

PS. Yeah, yeah. I know that I only gave this book a four star, but trust me, it really is super good. Just that I don't give out five star often, and I feel like this book is just missing that one piece that make it a five star (though I can't really tell you what piece it is).

Back then, my biggest concerns had been getting the top spot on the tennis team and wondering if my crush returned my feelings. I’d never seen death, and I certainly never thought that I would ever kill a living creature. Now, so much had changed. I’d fought and killed to save the lives of people I loved. I’d seen people die. I’d been given so much responsibility, and I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. If we failed at this quest, the world as I knew it wouldn’t exist anymore.

I received an ARC of this book from the author or publisher in exchange for an honest review, this doesn't in any way influence my thoughts or opinion of this book

This series has come a long way, and I have been with it from the very amazing beginning. The Elemental series has been a favorite of mine and it was bittersweet to let it go.
It started with action as usual. Nicole made a decision that while it sucked she had to do it, I totally understand why she did. From there on, it was a wild thrilling ride of nonstop heart pounding action, adventure and intrigue.
I won't spoil it too much but a lot of events happened, old characters coming back, new interesting characters introduced, danger as usual for our protagonists, lots of portal travelling, a trip to the Underworld etc.
The Hands of Time has it's usual treats of monsters, romance, sorrow, drama and Greek gods. I absolutely loved this book and it was very nice to see how everyone ended up. Really sad and heartbreaking things happened but while I'm not entirely happy at the events themselves, I respect the way it was handled.
Michelle Madow once again proves that she is a wordsmith capable of weaving a fantastic tale of magic, adventure, romance and action. I will always love the fast pace of her writing, it always keeps me on my toes. I can't wait for her next book Collide.
The Hands of Time is a perfect ending to the bewitching Elementals series.

I can't believe it's over already! Thank you Michelle Madow for letting me read it early! This was such an exciting, fast paced adventure. I really loved how the books were full of action and adventure, but also some romance without the romance taking over the story. I feel like the story ended well even though it was an emotional roller coaster. All the loose ends got tied up.. except maybe a spin off with Danielle..? Maybe? ;) ;)

This is an action packed finale to this superb paranormal series with more twists and turns than even the yarn in even the most complex hand knitted garments! The gifted Elementals now face possibly their most difficult challenge, stopping Typhon by sealing the Kerberos portal, because that will mean sacrificing one of their group to remain in that dangerous prison world . . . unless they can find a possible alternative method?

As these descendants from the Greek gods endeavour to save humanity, they’ll face further difficult decisions, have the opportunity to help bring one of their own back to life and have even more trials and opponents to face. This has been an enthralling series, one that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and will miss but it is a superb ending, with surprises en route and I can’t wait to read more from this talented author in future!

Many thanks to the author for gifting me an ARC of this with no obligation to read or review. This is my honest opinion.

This conclusion to Michelle Madow's Elementals series is very well done. I was excited to see how the group that we had left would be able to close the gate to Kerberos as well as defeat Typhon. The end of book 4 left us wondering if all that they had done so far would be enough. If the losses they'd suffered would not be in vain. If the final tasks would be surmountable. The way Madow lays the story out is done in a well-thought out way, without any sort of cheating or unsatisfactory tying up of loose ends. If you haven't read the first four in the series, you can go back and read my reviews of each of them, because I can't promise to not give any spoilers for the first four in my review of this final book.

1. The Prophecy of Shadows
2. The Blood of the Hydra
3. The Head of Medusa
4. The Portal to Kerberos

WOW !!! I cannot believe this is the end of the series.. but it ended with a BANG! I have loved seeing these characters grow, mature and learn their powers. The love between Nicole and Blake is beautiful and I found myself crying quite a few times during this novel. I really loved how Michelle was able to wrap up this exciting adventure so well. And Kate.. ahh beautiful comeback...Chris, words can't describe how tragic and heroic he is as a character...and Rachel was heart breaking. Michelle's writing is so beautiful and haunting, that scene will definitely be sticking with me. Erebus, so in love... he's awesome :)! I really enjoyed the scenes with Persephone, and the Underworld... that was really cool. I had a feeling that Danielle was going to do what she does... but I still cried. It's been amazing seeing this series grow and develop into the kick-ass adventure that it is. I can't wait to read Michelle's next book that is a thriller !

I am so sad that Elementals is over! This book made me laugh, cry, and maybe even curse a couple of times... :{

Michelle Madow you sure do know how to tug at the heart strings and make me feel every emotion in the book. I don't know how to properly use the phrase "all the feels" but I'm sure it applies to this.

It's the last book in the series. It's the finale that we've all been anticipating and waiting for but with things that I never thought would or could happen. And it was fantastic. I'm not going to give any details because I really don't want to spoil any element (haha) of this book.

If you've been keeping up with the series I think you'll be satisfied. If you've not been keeping up with the series or haven't even started yet, what are you waiting for?!?!

This is one happy book lover. Thank you Ms. Madow.

OK i got an early copy, big thanks to the author for that, this last book in the series exceeded all my expectations. not something that is easily done...Like all the other books book 5 starts up immediately after book 4 ends, there are so many things that happen i for one did not see coming, these books are full of having to think outside the box to come up with solutions to the problems, this book put me through an emotional roller coaster and while the story ended and most everything was wrapped up nicely i do hope we get an update down the line on the characters...they became friends and there is definitely a nice set up for more books should the author ever decide to make her fans happy and revisit these favorites

I was nervous and excited to read this book because it was the final book in the series! I read all the books in this series straight after each other, so I was sad to be on the final book! It sounded amazing though and I couldn't wait to find out how everything was going to end! After reading, I can say that I really enjoyed this book! It continued on the main character's story perfectly and it answered a few unanswered questions! I did think that this book could have been extended more though because some scenes were really quick and I felt like the ending could have been extended too! I still loved the plot though and there was plenty of romance in it and it was all very sweet! There was plenty of action and suspense in the plot too, which I loved! There were a few twist and turns as well and there was one that I wasn't expecting! It did have a big impact on the characters and made them appreciate each other more! The characters again showed a lot of strength and made this book even better! Nicole was again the main character, and this book was the final part of her mission! Nicole knew exactly what she had to do in this book, even if she did have a few bumps along the way, and she was determined to succeed! Nicole had also grown a lot from the first book and she knew how to use her power and she had grown a lot in confidence! I loved her a lot in this book too! Blake was again the love interest of Nicole and I loved that he was back in this book! He wasn't in the last book, so I was really happy that he was back in this book! Blake was again very protective of Nicole and he was willing to sacrifice everything to save the world! This made me have a lot of respect for him! I loved Blake with Nicole too! It was easy to see how much they loved each other! Kate, Chris and Danielle were again the secondary characters in this book! I loved that Kate was back in this book! She wasn't really in the last few books and I did miss her, so I was really happy that she was back in this book! She added a lot and gave a lot too! My heart went out to Chris in this book because he gave up everything to save the world and it was heart-breaking! He really did make the biggest sacrifice! Danielle in this book also gave up a lot and she did do it for love, but she gave up so much! This made me have so much respect for her and love her even more! This book was again only written from Nicole's point of view like the other books were! The epilogue was written from Kate's point of view though! I've loved this series being written through Nicole's eyes and I was still able to connect with all the other characters and understand them! I'm also really sad that this series is now over! I read these books straight after each other, so I've spent about a week with these characters! I'm really going to miss them, but what a journey they've had! They went through a lot lol! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place, but as I said above, could have been extended! I also can't wait to read this author's next book! I've read all her paranormal books now and I know that the next book she's releasing is from her Vampire Trick series, so I can't wait to read that book! I also love the cover for this book! It suits the other covers in the series perfectly and it obviously represents the character of Kate because she controls the element of earth!

What a way to end this series! Lots happened in this last book, both happy and sad but it did have a great ending! They completed their quest and saved the world like you would expect but how they did it was remarkable. This group had many difficult decisions, but they handled every one of them very well. I look forward to reading Michelle Madow's of books to continue the great adventures she creates!

Interesting

After obtaining everything they need to stop Typhon from rising and the portal to Kerberos from being opened, the elementals are faced with a heartbreaking decision that will require the ultimate sacrifice. Having Kate turned to stone in book four, and learning that there is no way to bring her back was a tough break. But the Elementals kept plugging on in search of a way to bring her back, and they succeeded. Only then to lose Chris in the fight against Typhon, and then to have Danielle choose to go to Kerberos to help close the portal, wow this book was tough on the heart strings. I loved the way all of the characters grew throughout the whole series.

MY TAKE ON THIS BOOK

I received an eARC from the author in exchange for my honest review

The final book picks up right where it left off. Nicole and Danielle travel back in time to prevent what all happens in the previous book and they succeed. I really like how they didn't give up on --- and searched for ways to save her. The process of turning a person into a goddess was beautiful and scary ( your skin melting off) at the same time. There is a character death that I did not see coming. I felt the ending was rushed coz it was like one moment they are searching for answers and the next moment they abruptly have to seal the portal, would have liked it if there was another book where we got to see in detail the moments leading up to sealing the portal.

CHARACTERS:

Nicole- loved how she cares about her friends and does not give up when it came to saving -- but I hated how she was ready to throw Danielle into the pit when it came to choosing between Blake and Danielle.

Blake- tried to act all macho when the time to sacrifice comes but the guy has luck on his side, coz he is saved from going through with it.

Danielle- My fav character till the END!!..god I wished I got to see the romance development between you and Erebus.

Chris- still hasn't confessed his feelings for Kate(disappointed). He plays a major role in bringing down Typhon.

Kate- felt sad for her but happy that she is doing some

OVERALL

MINUS- I felt that the series focused too much on Danielle and Blake's romance and not on Kate-Chris & Danielle-Erebus. When it came to character development, Nicole's was done really well but there was no development for the other characters in this book.

PLUS- I loved the Greek mythology adventures in each and very book!!!It was interesting and combined with elemental powers made it AWESOME!!! The series just gives you the PERCY JACKSON VIBES!!!

This book on the whole was a light, fun and a quick read. I'm sure you will be able to finish the entire series within a day or two. This series is worth a read for the Greek mythology!! Looking forward to more future works by MICHELLE MADOW:)

Man oh man. I cannot believe we're finally at the end of this series! It's been such an amazing ride and it seems like I just started The Prophecy of Shadows not long ago. I have enjoyed the Elementals series very much and though the story rounded out nicely, I'm sad to see it go.

So for starters, let me say that this cover is my absolute favorite of the entire series. I love the greenery and the natural elements to it. The only thing I was a bit confused about is which character the girl on the cover is supposed to be. So far, each character has been represented on the cover of each book, with corresponding colors representing the element that they have control over. Kate is in control of the earth element and she hasn't been on a cover yet, so it makes sense that The Hands of Time cover would represent her. The cover model looks strikingly similar to the cover model for The Prophecy of Shadows (in my opinion) so it had me a little confused. Maybe I'm just reading too much into a cover. That's very much a possibility as well. :P Still my favorite cover though.

The Hands of Time was definitely a fast paced book that covered a lot of ground. I'm not sure on the sizes of the other books, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one was much larger. There was so much that happened in this story, from trips to the Underworld, battling monsters, losing some beloved characters, and much much more. This book definitely took the reader on an adventurous ride. Filled to the brim with greek mythology, the book was one twist and turn after another and I couldn't get enough. Michelle Madow has done a great job with this series and has created such an amazing world where the reader never quite knows what's going to happen next.

The Hands of Time was a great conclusion to a great series and I definitely recommend it to fans of Percy Jackson!

I really liked this series, and I read all 5 books in a weekend. So I'm only doing a review as the whole series rather than each book separately.

Elementals is a mix of witchcraft, Greek mythology, and teenage angst.

Mild spoilers….

The characters were pretty cookie cutter; new girl, hot popular guy, spoiled rich girl, smart girl best friend, and nerdy sweet guy. These 5 come together under a comet and are imbued by elemental powers. Oh, and they are all descendents of a different Greek god or goddess.

Some of the characters developed better than others, I actually liked the way Danielle developed from in the first book being kind of bratty and using grey energy to the end where she really is friends with everyone, and she gets a special romance arc of her own.

Nicole, our main character, doesn't really grow as a person very much. She hides her magic from her parents, then hides her feelings for the guy, then hides her "extra powers" …

I do think some of the story line could have been drawn out more to build the world a bit better, but with each book we learn a little more and by the end, it is actually enough.  I would have liked to see more about Jason and Hypatia… Wink wink

All in all, though, it's a very well thought out story.  The "missions" all make sense in the grand scheme of the story line and the ultimate mission, and I'm excited that she is starting a new series that will happen after this series… "Elemental Academy". I can't wait it.

Michelle, do you think this is a game? Where survive from wine and the tears and hatred of your fans? I'm sad because this amazing series ended and I hope that in the future you return to it even if its a sneak peek of their future lives and I'm pissed about the sucker punching plot twists but hey I love them so maybe I'm a masochist. I really loved all the action this book had, the sadness and the anticipation with gave you but what I loved the most is that you brought my two favorite gods to this book. Hades and Persephone, I loved what you did with Kate and Helios punishment and that Danielle and Erebus has a chance to love each other even if its in the effed up version of wacky world

Nicole was extremely frustrating in this book, she was kind of an annoying main character throughout the series but omgggg I just wanted to shake her in this one!! Her relationship with Blake was so mediocre, I literally couldn't have cared less. Kate and Chris were robbed! Their love seemed much more genuine.

Also, the writing in this book wasn't as good as the others. There were a lot of things that were glossed over and the series overall wasn't as in-depth as I usually like. However, it was still enjoyable!

I'm so sad to be done with this series! I just wanted to read on and on about it! I want to see how their lives go from where it leaves off! How the new goddess lives her immortal life. The things she sees throughout her life. I just loved and adored all of these characters! They were amazing and sweet and inspiring! I fully plan to read more works by this author! She's definitely very talented. I fully recommend this entire series! It will leave you on edge the whole way through!

A great conclusion to a great series. I was sad at how some things ended for our group but in the end they had to happen. I did feel like the characters have really grown over the series and i appreciate that the author stayed true to the fact that these are teenagers trying to save the world and they would , and did make mistakes along the way. They rushed into situations without thought and at times cause more harm than good with those actions. Ultimately it was a wonderful story!

Wow. The final book in this series, and it did not disappoint. It was impressive how much action and detail was included for a fast-paced story. For a young adult novel, it definitely had some heavier emotions then I was expecting. I appreciated that the characters (and story) weren’t perfect. While it ends well, there definitely some sacrifices that had to be made. Overall great story and series.

I can't believe the Elementals series is over! I have loved following their adventures to save the world. This final installment of the series sent them on their most important and heartbreaking adventures to date and failing would mean the end of the world as we know it.
