Bay Winchester isn’t in the mood for trouble. It seems to continually find her, however, and this time it’s coming in the form of a television production crew.
Haunted Traditions has made a name for itself as the premiere reality television show catering to paranormal enthusiasts. Of course Hemlock Cove pops up on their radar. What they want most of all is an interview with Bay, the local newspaper owner and expert on all things Hemlock Cove, and a shot of magic happening in real time wouldn’t hurt either.
The woman in question is not having it.
When a body drops in an alley, it’s bad enough that the production crew is on site. What makes it worse is that the body is glowing… and there’s no hiding it. There’s no telling why it’s glowing either. It’s a mystery.
Bay and her husband Landon are convinced the body has something to do with a new meth gang that has taken over a chain of lake cabins on the outskirts of town. They just have to prove it.
Between dodging the television crew—who have taken up residence in The Overlook—and chasing a monster, the Winchesters have their hands full… and that’s not counting the family members who have decided they want to become television stars.
Bay is used to fighting evil. What she’s not used to is having to dodge potential exposure in the process.
The Winchesters are facing a battle. Now they just have to figure what side it’s coming from.
It’s a fight to the finish… and if the television crew catches them, it’s all over.
It’s lights, cameras, action in Hemlock Cove… and death may soon follow.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
This is an exceptionally outstanding Paranormal cozy mystery series. An extraordinary cast of characters and a spectacularly entertaining storyline. The Winchester family is a family of witches that live in northern lower Michigan. A small town called Hemlock Cove. It is a town claiming to be a town of witches for the tourism trade. So it is a town of fake witches with a few actual witches pretending to be fake which is pretending to be normal humans. Do you have the three moms who run the overlook in with great aunt Tilly as the matriarch the three daughters Bay, thistle and clove. A total of seven Winchester women who are witches. Along with their husbands boyfriends and others they end up saving the world on a few occasions and saving the town on multiple occasions. They owns the local newspaper and her husband is an FBI agent. This only clove on a local Paranormal shop and close husband And her own a Paranormal lighthouse that they live in. Thistle and her boyfriend live in it converted barn and blacksmith shop in the middle of town that does business during the tourist season. There are three moms along with aunt Tilly run the overlook in. This series is one of mini written by this author in this magical world. Multiple characters on occasion will cross over into the different series in each others books and interact which makes it an even more fun and entertaining series. a bit of Snark a lot of fun and a great deal of entertainment. You will not be disappointed to read this series or any other buy this author. Check them out
This enemy is more subtle than most causing Bay problems.
Bay is used to dealing with magical enemies attacking now after a few years of troubleshooting in her hometown, but the enemy she faces this time hides in the shadows _---------- literally. There's a camera crew in town filming a documentary on Hemlock Cove, they are looking for witches and Mrs Little has set them on the Winchesters. If that wasn't enough there's a dead body that is glowing and it's found in the alley behind the Unicorn shop. Bay has no.idea what is causing the deceased to glow like he is but senses it's magical in nature. Aunt Tillie has declared war on Mrs Little after giving her a break due to the events in the last book and she's out doing herself with spells that conjure dancing rats to start with. If all the wasn't bad enough the documentary team are staying at the Overlook, Bay's mum thinks it's good publicity for the town whereas Bay sees them as trouble just waiting to happen. Then throw in the meth dealers and who he time for a magical mystery to be solved and all that's before Bay is attacked. It's busy one that's for sure. I always love returning to Hemlock Cove Aunt Tillie.is one.of my top ten fictional.characters.
Mrs Little invites a paranormal chasing camera crew to town in order to out the Winchester Witches once and for all.. she even points them in the direction of the Overlook in the hopes they'll catch the witches on film at home.
Bay is frustrated when everyone seems determined to join in and be interviewed especially when she's trying to deal with shadow monsters, a glowing dead body, Landon's missing undercover agent and Aunt Tillie who's setting up Mrs Little on a daily basis.
Can Bay avoid the camera's and get to the bottom of all this mess and work out what Mrs Little did to create the shadow monster situation.. it's all a big mess and headache for Bay to fix but when the chips are down can she rely on her family to stand beside her when they are all so determined to be TV stars!!
Although I like this series a lot (not the narrator), it took me forever to finish this book because I was sad that someone had to die, in part, because of the feud between Tillie and Margaret Little. I just couldn't get past it. But I knew I finally had to get through it in order to keep reading the series as well as the others that include some of these characters.
WWMW is my all time favourite of all Amanda’s books, it’s up to her usual standards of mayhem and madness, full of laughs and crazy capers. Love that it also has Scout, Gunner and Stormy in as well as all the usual suspects. The tricks Tilly plays on Mrs Little are just so funny, can just picture her enraged face. Aunt Tilly is such an amazing char, how everyone’s hair isn’t grey after having to deal with her antics amazes me. Such a fantastically funny read, thanks Amanda.
Awe, that was really good. Sad in some parts, but good. I mean who else can spin Margaret Little’s world into a tizzy better than Tillie? No one, that’s who! I would love to just read about the Winchester family forever. I can’t get enough of their smart mouths and “lists”. Lol. I also like that Clove, the true kvetch, wasn’t in this book - I can’t stand her whining.
I was thinking for a bit there that I wish Mrs Little’s character would be killed off already, but then as I thought about that I realized I don’t like that idea because not only would some of the pranks on her be obsolete, but also Aunt Tillie would be sad about not having anyone to pick on. She’d have to find something else to do and that’d only make trouble for…EVERYONE.
I can’t wait for the next book by Lee…whatever and whenever that is.
I think next I’ll read a book recently released by one of my favorite podcasters: The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart (yes, that is spelled correctly). Alaina co-hosts the podcast “Morbid” with her sister niece (lol), Ash.
If you like true crime, you’ll really enjoy listening to the “Morbid” podcast!
Bay, Landon, Aunt Tillie and the entire gang are back but, not to film
There is a reality show filming in town, thanks to Margaret Little. Upon their arrival, a glowing dead body turns up in the alley behind the shops. How do you hide that from the already filming camera crew? To add in suit to injury, the camera crew are staying at the Overlook for the entirety of their stay. There is no escaping them or the mess that has been created. This was a great book. Funny, snarky, engaging, and engrossing. I highly recommend, this book, series and all by this inkslinger. It is a hurry up and wait for the next book, I guess.
The Winchester witches are at it again, solving mysteries and getting into mayhem. The family dynamic and interaction between the characters really makes these books entertaining. Even when the characters are obnoxious and annoying, they're at least consistent, like the socially inept relative who drives everyone crazy but who is still part of the family. The great character dynamic extends to the rest of the town, where pretty much everyone know everyone and has done for generations. It's a throw back to another era when people were less mobile and had go learn to live around each other in small communities.
I am reviewing the series from the beginning. One of the things that strikes me is that having an incredibly powerful, albeit, crazy elderly witch in the The family, why they wait until now to sort of start to take lessons from her.
Earlier books talk about how powerful they can be if the three cousins join their power together to create spells. You got none of them want to put in the effort???
What happens when I’m Tilly passes? With all that knowledge, it’s a shame that nobody wants to learn all they can from that old lady. By the way, some of the comments are so hysterical that I have literally dropped my Kindle while reading to laugh.
Amanda does it again. With another great book, who wouldn’t want to join Bay, Landon, and the rest of the family on another adventure? Aunt Tillie still cracks me up with her antics and I feel for the Bay every step of the way as she deals with the television production, her family and the mystery she needs to solve. It was so captivating that I didn’t want to put it down and wanted the answers as much as Bay did. I loved this book and look forward to the next one!
So I started this unsure what to expect, seeing as how it appears to be 21st in a series that I'd never read.
There were definitely back story items, and characters that I was missing info on, but I was able to get through it.
There were quite a few characters side characters that I couldn't keep track of, but I just kept going.
Overall kind of a cute story, cute concept! I might go back and read the others. I found the end sort of anti-climatic. There was sort of a big reveal and I had guessed part of it but not all of it so I liked how it kept me guessing.
I love how the author finds new twists for this long running series. A reality show coming to town is perfect and instead of making it continuously funny ahe took the opposite route and made it a more serious although fascinating murder and crime mystery. Stayed well within cozy guidelines as well. Deeper interactions with and about Mrs Little also led extra depth to the town.
i think it’s great how every book follows the same formula but the actual story is different every time. the repetitive dialogue is starting to wear on me though. landon is hot. gunner is hot. bay is the most powerful. no scout is the most powerful. i don’t think it would be a bad thing to introduce some variety to the character lineup at this point, if only so i don’t have to read “she’s my sweetheart” again.
Well there will be some action but not by the Winchester witches, well all but bay she has no desire to be on camera and she wished she could convince the rest of the family. There is a dead body glowing in the alley behind the unicorn imperium. How, who, and why are all questions no one has answers to. Don't forget Aunt Tillie she is up to her old tricks or should we say new ones. 💚💙
I loved this series . it was a great escape (no bag to pack vacation). during the shutdown I stopped watching TV. And listened to books and music. While I made mask for everyone I know. These books made the time pass enjoyable. This was a great find today. I considered it a present because today is my birthday. So Thanks for the gift of a great read
I found the last few books disappointing, since the wedding, really. But we are now back to maximum snark. I still think overly powerful protagonists make stories weaker , but it wasn't bad this time. I was a bit frustrated by their inability to count. Tillie, 3 mothers, and three cousins makes 7, adding Scout and Stormy makes 9, 8 if they leave Clove, which they shouldn't.
After finishing this read - I felt there was less Aunt Tillie than I like. It just felt like a whole lot of Bay. Thistle and Clove also took a back seat. And did anyone notice how the Aunts are almost non existent? The storyline just felt a little forced and lost most of its characters along the way. At one point I was seriously trying to remember if Thistle’s Mom had moved out or something and I had not remembered. This was not the case - she just didn’t really have a part in this story.
Lights, Cameras, Witches(Wicked Witches of the Midwest book 21
This was another winner. This is Amanda Lee' S 21 book in this series. I have read all her different series and all her books except 10. So over 100 books and loved every one of them so I have read some over again. I highly recommend all her books and different series. She writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. Diana Romano
Another great installment in the Winchester saga. The plot and subplots move quickly, and the humor keeps it from getting too intense during the search for answers. I also enjoyed the addition of friends Stormy and Scout. This is a thoroughly enjoyable series that I hope continues for a long time.
I loved this addition to the series. Bay and Landon are one of my favorite couples. Aunt Tilly makes everything both worse, yet better. She is freaking hilarious. Love the series and looking forward to next the one. This one wrapped up nicely. I love when Bay uses her necro powers.
Aunt Tillie is such a diva on her own … just imagine with a TV crew filming. Mrs Little is also once again in the center of the action and witches from nearby towns are brought in to help out with a very suspenseful adventure. Not great literature … but great fun.
A wonderfully delightful witches story. Bay and Landon at their best, Thistle at her most sarcastic, Aunt Tilly finding more trouble than usual and I’ve got to say I love having visits from Scout and Gunner, Stormy and Hunter plus Evan it all adds to every more magical mayhem and badassery!!!
I love this series and the latest book did not disappoint. The storyline was engaging from start to finish with plenty of twists and turns. I enjoyed the usual snark and I love the relationships between the characters. It was fun to have characters from a couple of the other series crossover in this book as well.
I wanna stay at the overlook! Eat til my pants don’t button, pet peg, hang out with all the winchesters! I absolutely love these books. Truth be told I haven’t read a Amanda m Lee books I didn’t love and finish in a day. My dream retirement job would be prof reading these books
The start of this series was my introduction to Amanda Lee and I have never looked back. This is in my opinion, the most drawn fully series she writes. The characters are amazing and the stories are always great not to mention Aunt Tillie is her best character in all her series. Great book.
An amazing book. It hit all my emotions. Loved it. Ms. Lee has a great imagination, I don't know how she does it, but I hope she continues to do it for many years to come. If you enjoy the paranormal, mystery, friendship, family and love, then this is the book\series for you.
Awesome read, Bay has to worry about keeping her family from being filmed when a glowing body is found, shadows start appearing, Tillie is pranking Mrs. Little and now a venue is loose, what else could possibly go wrong. Great characters and storyline, your the book.
