Evan Hudzik will do anything for the love of his life ... even if she doesn't know who he is.

Evan's having a rough summer. The girl he's in love won't even look his way. His best friend is in a pinball competition with a frenemy who's the best in town. And his parents' restaurant, the amazing Meatball Express, is in serious trouble of going under. With his world falling apart around him, Evan's only recourse is to break into exercise camp to be with the girl of his dreams, and hope that love will save the day.

As with his previous novel, Roller Disco Saturday Night, Kevin Quigley looks into the hearts and souls of teenagers trying to find some solace and dignity as their lives increasingly feel chaotic and adult. What surprises might lie in store for Evan during the most important summer of his life ... and will they change everything?

For any adult that appreciates a well-written YA novel, Meatball Express does not disappoint! Kevin Quigley’s third YA story of a teenage boy that will do anything to be near the girl of his dreams had me reading straight through the weekend (a great summer beach read, and I finished it by the lake).

There are several laugh-out-loud moments, and you will find yourself routing for Evan and re-live your own experiences of adolescent insanity and the rollercoaster emotions of this age group. Add in some great adults in Evan’s life, his friends Dewei and Sophie, and pinball wizardry, and this feel-good book will make you feel good!

All the way through, I was thinking to myself that this is a screenplay, just ripe for being made into a movie – the title is right-on, the story draws you in, and the ending is perfect for the big screen.

Coming of abe

This is a coming of age story in a new age. Characters you wanna fall in love with and see succeed and you feel every emotion with them. It pulls me back to childhood and makes me feel like a kid again
