The huge alien prince claims I’m his wife—I’ve never been a good little princess, and I’m not about to start now.
Stuck in a hot jungle with an even hotter alien is not how I imagined my diplomatic mission going. To make things worse, every conversation is an exercise in survivor charades. I’ve always prided myself on never needing a man, but this planet seems determined to prove I can't live without the massive alien stuck to my side.
When we’re chased into a crumbling ruin, I think things are finally looking up. We’re out of the rain, at the very least. There are strange images all over the temple walls, showing riches beyond belief. And my alien? He’s suddenly obsessed with finding it… and with me.
By the time my translator starts working, I’ve figured out several things. One, other aliens are hunting us. Two, my alien seems to think the mysterious treasure will solve all our problems. And three? We’re married.
If I want to survive this death trap of a temple and Suevan politics, I’ll need all my wits about me.
And I better stop being distracted by the muscled hunk of scaly alien who treats me like I’m the real treasure.

I feel bad giving this book four stars. Because except for one thing that I’m being completely irrational about, this book was awesome!
Book two of Accidental Alien Brides (aka the all-female space crew who think they’re making first contact with humanity’s new alien allies but actually they’ve gotten married to them) is about a gives no Fs weapons specialist, Gen, and a literal alien prince, Kanuz.
Gen was one of the funniest characters I’ve ever read. Full stop. And Kanuz was such a Himbo, I was dying. And Gen was almost actually dying—because Kanuz was at life-threatening levels of dumb 😆 Gen was simultaneously not having it and loving it—the amount of times she was literally crying with laughter… 😂 Same, girl!
And the situations they found themselves in? 100% nuts. Gen’s translator wasn’t working (alien charades for the win), getting the Prince for an alien husband wasn’t as good as a Warlord when you get lost in the jungle (Gen was not impressed 😆), and they stumbled upon an ancient alien temple while running away from extraterrestrial dinosaurs (love that). And then we had a very Indiana Jones-style plot, which brings me to the topic of heists…
Now, for some reason, I hate heists. I don’t know what heists ever did to me to make me hate them so much, but here we are. And although looking for treasure in a temple is not actually a heist, it was heist-adjacent enough that this got a star removed (I am such a monster 🫣). Objectively, the Indiana Jones style action was fun and it wasn’t even a super big plot line. But there’s something about me and treasure, I just don’t like it, and that’s so irrational.
Which is such a shame because I loved everything else. Particularly the steam—these two were very hot, physical people who were very into the dirty talk. Gen literally thinks “THIS IS THE BEEEEST!” (all caps, four Es) to herself during their first time 😆 I mean, get it, girl!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💜🩷💙💚 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌎 Character development: ☹️😍😋😤 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Gen - she was one of an all-female diplomatic mission into Suevan territory. The mission was intended to get Earth an interplanetary defense system that will stave off any more alien incursions. Though the alien hosts insisted on an all-female team from the Earth Federation. The women didn’t know it at the time, but the Suevans’ needed mates and when they arrived, they were each chosen by an alien male and the welcoming ceremony was actually a mating ceremony after which the females were implanted with translators.
The Hero:Kanuz - he is the prince of his people. The Suevan’s are a warlike race, living traditionally in small settlements throughout their planet, yet their weapons and warships are far advanced than anything seen in the federation. Separatists attack the welcoming/mating ceremony and Kanuz takes his mate, Gen into the jungle. He figures they will hike to Adrobaz, the mountain city where the capital is. Though rain and mudslides have slowed them down quite a bit.
The Story: Gen is not fond of Kanuz after they have been trekking through the jungle for days. Especially since her translator has been malfunctioning and she can’t understand him. They think some of the large reptilian beasts on the planet might be hunting them and possibly the separatists as well. They end up taking shelter from the rain in temple ruins deep in the jungle. The ruins are filled with drawings like hieroglyphics showing a treasure that Kanuz thinks could really help his people. They lead to various puzzles the further into the temple they get, puzzles they must solve if they want to live.
I like the action and adventure of this story; I also liked that Gen realizes that she hasn’t been very nice to Kanuz and apologizes as well as thanks him for saving her and taking care of her. Kanuz also has some of his own issues in that he sees himself as a spoiled prince that may not be capable of bringing his people together or of ruling. I also loved the miscommunications that surfaced based mostly on the use of slang and idioms. We usually don’t see that as much in alien romance, but it is definitely something that would happen when talking to an alien race. It was hilarious when she tried to tell him about sour patch kids. He thought they ate children. She had to explain they were just shaped like children and he didn’t understand why they would want to eat something like that.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson. These are two of my favorite alien romance narrators. They are both very expressive and natural sounding. Voice actors not readers, if you know what I mean. They both have great voices as well.
I had my doubts about this one. It started a little slow for me, and I was not entirely sold on the pairing. But I was pleasantly surprised with how EVERYTHING turned out here. From the coupling to the moving of the plots. And the Epilogue as well as the bonus book chapter for these two, Kanuz and Gen, was just really beautiful..
The Trials scene that the women had to complete to become Warlords, was intense and highly entertaining. I have to say that I wound up enjoying this one, way more than book 1. And I liked book 1.
I'm definitely intrigued with Bex and Dergoz, so I'm running to their book next. But now I am super curious about the issues/circumstances with Abby and her mate that they(the Aliens) dubbed "The Beast"
Based on books 1 and 2, I would recommend this series.
Kanuz was a sweetheart who adored the prickly Gen. They had some good banter going on and were a cute couple. This book was as adventure packed as the previous one. What kept me from giving 5 stars was how a few plot points wrapped up. I can’t explain much more without spoilers.
A lot of things I like about this series, not the least of which is the women are military and there’s some action where they get to show off their skills and its a nice change of pace. I think this does rely on some standard tropes like survival situations, some big bad aliens to contrast against the “good” aliens (with potential to throw a twist in there), and the sweet MMC whose mangling of idioms give some cute funny moments. Overall, enjoying the series and looking forward to the next.
Alien H and human h -Gen was a baddie -the prince was so sweet -temple mysteries and puzzles are solved -t Rex pet -all the humans reunite -HEA
The prince was more dominate that I thought he’d be and a bit of a dirty talker which I loved. Gen was a baddie whose soft inside and learned it’s ok to let your guard down with your soulmate. Super cute and really liked.
These are just comedy gold I’m not even sorry. Like yes it’s 4 stars bc I was cracking up. Just don’t take these seriously and you’ll have a blast tbh.
This is my first DNF of 2023. I didn't get far enough to grade it but it was meh as far as I did get. I've read other books by this author and really enjoyed them but despite picking it up and trying to get into it a number of times I just couldn't. I will definitely read this author again and I think it's more of an 'it's not the book, it's me' thing.
This book worked much better than book 1 for me and I enjoyed it better. Finished it a lot faster, too!
Much like the first book, there's an imbalance between what is taken away from the female character (e.g., her agency at being married, her knowledge and skills aren't applied or useful), however it's much closer to being balanced than book 1.
Whereas the Warlord Draz didn't really have any flaws, Prince Kanuz is struggling with his own feelings of inadequacy. That helped a lot to both make him a more likable character with some depth and personality and to put him and the female character on more equal footing.
Gen also has more opportunities to utilize her knowledge and abilities, especially during the temple ruin puzzles, but we also start to see hints of her having something to bring to the table in terms of being the Princess and future ruler of Sueva. Gen also has clear character development beyond whether or not to bone her alien prince husband and that helped tremendously in making her more likable and giving her more depth. As she faces her new reality on Sueva, she realizes the life she forced herself into after the Roth invasion on Earth doesn't have to be her reality forever and she can enjoy some aspects of life that she'd given up previously. It's nice.
That said, she suffers from the same shitty training (I guess?) as Niki so she also says and thinks things sometimes that make no sense to me that she wouldn't know as a trained space military officer. Also some things that like, just make sense for her to know, like the basics of how contraception works. Hello??
Although they also don't make it back to the others until about 75% of the way through the book, the plot didn't feel as much like a slog because of the entire temple excursion. While the temple ruin story line was needed for the plot and character development, it was kind of frustrating at the end to have the outcome feel wasted. I can't help but feel like there could have been something more done with that.
There were also some great funny lines in this one, moreso than in book 1. Gen calls herself an idiot sandwich a couple times and, after being very confused about it at first, Prince Kanuz later calls himself an idiot lunch.
Another great example is this funny bit because it also demonstrates how more resourceful Gen was than Niki. Instead of traipsing around naked, at one point Gen cobbles together some leaves to act as temporary clothing. "Feeling fierce, or maybe manic, who could say, I strut to the base of the tree and back. “And the star of fashion week, Genevieve Durand, modeling her latest.” I do a sharp pivot turn, my hands on my hips. The end of my vine belt slaps me in the face. I cough and bat it down. “It’s interactive,” I say to Kanuz, who stares at me, open-mouthed. “Couture. Avant-garde.”"
Overall, was it perfect? Nope. Was it more enjoyable than book 1? Yes. Will I be reading book 3? also Yes.
Nailed it! This book was everything I wanted in an alien romance! ***** Rating: 5 stars Steam: 3 flames Genre/Tropes: Alien / Sci-fi Romance, Accidental Marriage, Growly Possessive MMC, Strong FMC ***** What is a sign of a fantastic book? I grin on my face the entire time I am reading!
I absolutely ADORED these characters, this book, this storyline, this world… Do you get the picture? I LOVED IT!
Prince Kanuz is in line to be king one day, and he has been living the playboy life of a Prince too. That is until he is selected to marry a human female. Genevieve is a military woman with strength, determination, and sass… but she also has a soft side… one that hasn’t been nurtured much since the Roth invaded earth.
This book picks up right after the mating ceremony, and these two go on a fantastic journey…through the jungle, ancient ruins, and they will face creatures intent on making them dinner.
This book had it all, humor, steam, suspense, great characters, witty banter, world building and a storyline that had me quickly turning the pages to see what would happen next! It was a great read and I am so looking forward to seeing what happens next!
Does this get my recommendation? Yes! A thousand times yes! This is a must read romance in my opinion! Happy reading y’all!
In a groundbreaking mission, Earth has launched an all-female team into space with the objective of establishing contact with extraterrestrial life and fostering goodwill. However, the team encounters unexpected challenges that go beyond their initial expectations. A significant aspect of this encounter involves differing perceptions: while the human women see it as a welcoming initiative, the aliens view it through the lens of traditional customs, including marriage.
This situation unfolds in a complex and often hostile environment, raising concerns about the safety of the human team. As the narrative progresses, the dynamics between the women and the alien alpha warlords evolve, highlighting their protective instincts toward the newcomers. This interplay leads to intense chemistry among the characters, prompting them to confront their feelings and desires amidst the challenges they face.
The story is rich with elements of action, misunderstandings, fear, pain, love, and humor, creating a multifaceted exploration of relationships across species and the journey toward mutual understanding and connection.
This was not as good as the first. The dialogue was OTT. The male sounded ridiculous, simple, and childish. He’s supposedly from this advanced culture, but he sounds so unintelligent… The dialogue for the female is well done!
Oh, and the constant literal take on everything she said, got real tiresome by the middle.. One last issue, she was supposedly the security specialist, and a real tough badass … but it didn’t read that way at all. The first FMC from book one, sounded more that way. (I get it, she was the captain, just wishing this FMC had more of that.)
Some hugely funny moments at the end. We soooo needed more STEVE!!! Made it worth hanging in there. Still worth reading, but needed to skim read some parts.
I didn’t warm to Kanuz as much as I thought I would. His vulnerable earnestness and want to please Gen was kind of ruined by the constant reminders of his manwhore past. I didn’t like how he mentioned it all the time and bragged of his prowess, but at least he was all eyes for Gen when they met. (And she had a past as well, it just isn’t referenced alll the time)
I liked their little bits of character growth.
It was kind of disappointing their quest really had no impact on anything.
But if you treat this as part of the whole story of the series, it was an entertaining read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
i didn't enjoy this as much as the first one but i still had a fun time! i am abso adoring these FMC's y'all - they are hilarious, badass, and brilliant and have such loving mates UGH
also loving the incorporation of a "pet" in each one STEVEVEVVEEEEEEEE we love him
I read book one and I thought it was interesting. But this one I really enjoyed. I like the world building and the characters and I thought the story flowed well. It was a good romance and story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Still ridiculous. Aliens capable of wormholes and interstellar flight don't have cell phones, etc. "trapped in the jungle" again. We're constantly told that the woman is strong, but she does nothing.
The highlight of this book was the HUMOR! Both Gen, our prickly badass female lead, and Kanuz, her dumb but affectionate and beautiful alien prince, are riots! They make for a great couple in that regard.
The plot of this book felt much less serious than the first one, making it an easy one to get through and a nice treat. While there was suspense in wondering how they’d find their way out of a sacred temple/trial/treasure hunt, it was mostly fun and games and flirting.
The spice wasn’t my favorite, a little vanilla for me personally, but it was still very well written. Kanuz is a dirty talker which his mate absolutely adores.
Gen also has some really great scenes with the other human women, endearing me to them more and making me look forward to their books. I also fell more in love with Niki, she had a great dynamic with Gen. All of these ladies are loyal to each other and will do anything for each other, so it’s great seeing them really act like a team.
The second book in the Accidental Alien Brides series.
Thank you, January, for the ARC and allowing me to have the privilege of experiencing your masterpieces.
This book follows Gen, the second in command on the Federation ship, and Kanuz, Prince of Suevan.
Gen and Kanuz are the last couple to make their way to safety and we read about their trials and tribulations associated with their new budding relationship and also escaping the deadly Crigomar.
Gen is hard hearted as well as hard headed. Her and Kanuz make for a brilliant couple. His patience and diligence to allow her time only makes their pining story so much better.
Spice is a 5/5 and Kanuz sure knows his way around some dirty talk.
It was great to hear about Niki’s concerns for Gen in the last book and then get to match them up to Gen’s own experience with Kanuz.
I will be counting down the days until Bex’s book next. Expected in September, 2022. 🤤🤤
As is typical for me, after having this book in my “to be read“ pile for a while, I jumped right into the heart of the series instead of staring with book one. But I wasn’t lost, and I absolutely wasn’t disappointed. The characters were phenomenal! I love how they both were their authentic selves and found they had more in common than they thought. Especially once they were able to effectively communicate. And the story! Oh man! They gave Indian Jones a run for his money as they made their way to their HEA. I enjoyed seeing everything unfold and I love how the storylines overlap. Now I just have to get started on the ones I missed so I can see who finds their HEA next.
4 Stars. Hunky alien prince who enjoys dirty talk, check. Badass, funny, brave, human heroine, check. Paired them together and you got a perfect alien human match.
It was entertaining, cute and sweet. The fearsome T-Rex dinosaur pet was a delightful bonus 🦖
I really like sold by the government and alien pets. I like a dungeon crawl. I like formulaic alien romances under 300 pages. This has enough good points to keep me reading the series, especially now that we are out of the stupid jungle.
Wed to the Alien Prince is book 2 in the Accidental Alien Brides series. This is an off planet, alien romance. I enjoyed this book. I think it was a little better than the first book. I plan to listen to the rest of the series. The narration was good. 3.5 stars, overall.
