Orne Skull-Stomper, Elder Troll of Humania is threatening to break free...
The Necro-Beast Guild has been wiped off the face of Humania and Keith now has to prepare to challenge the most powerful Boss on the continent. There's only one problem. The Pest Control Guild has signed a contract with the Royals and patrolling the continent for dark Guilds is now Marj's top priority.
Still, a lack of support has never stopped Keith before and in his quest to save his family, no challenge is too great. Even when said challenge is rumored to dwarf the Spirits themselves.
World-ending destruction is set to sweep the southern half of the continent and Keith will need to reach new heights in order to match it.
It's slowly getting better as the series progresses. The sudden personality change of the guild leader seemed unnecessarily forced. It could have been introduced more slowly and more believably.
Keith is becoming OP but is about to move to a more challenging continent. I want to see if he skates through his quests or has to struggle.
Done with this series, a bit too drawn out and I find myself skipping most everything that isn’t dialogue or stats. Progression is slow, Tac is annoying, and overall stats and numbers still aren’t making a lot of sense.
Another great entry in the series. This one finally followed through on the first major arc of the story with a satisfying conclusion. The action was enjoyable to read and the progression and shiny items also an entertaining bonus. The side characters were beginning to be more nuanced, but can still use some improvement. I also liked the wider scope the story is going and the small hints scattered throughout that makes the story feel like it has been properly thought out.
Losing track of details seems to be the bane of LitRPG authors writing a story arc series of books. This authors does a lot better than average so far. The most glare error has been a short scenario where a big deal ring that was returned to Chuck in Book 2 suddenly solves all infiltration issues of a brief side quest. My guess is that with long series of books, LitRPG authors frequently write scenes then later decide to to move that event to a later book. So continuity problems occur when those events are not reviewed or the author's notes and memory lose track of details.
The unique features of LitRPG also lend themselves to copy and paste errors during advancement of character sheet, skill descriptions, and upgradeable items. This author does really well compared to some authors. I did not get assaulted by obvious reversed progress or long failures of numbers to increase while story shouted about a series of huge advancement. But there MIGHT have been a couple missed minor upgrades in this book. The point is though that is was not disturbing enough to make me check. So good job overall in updating copied passages fairly consistently to story told.
And there certainly has not been any huge intentional rollbacks where an author decides the main character is too OP for the current storyline progress and cuts all stats by 70 percentage while hoping readers do not notice.
Enjoyable story, but the secondary characters dont really stand out as his main allies are Bob the monkey and Cayla the vampire. Everyone else is so minor that its hard to remember who they are. Also, l understand that this is written for a young adult audience, but Keith pining over his family after multiple lifetimes and being completely disinterested in any form of relationship is just strange.... no, weird. Cayla made herself available to him in book no. 2 and he cared not a whit, despite basically living together on the road. Since Cayla has retired from hunting, Keith needs someone to develop a relationship with, especially if she is someone he cant have, so he'll have to overcome obstacles to claim her. Life is about relationships and without them we are only shadows of what we could and should be. Hopefully the author will take my suggestions to heart in the next story arc.
The Elder Troll is first world monster Keith goes after
Keith is moving towards the first world monster on his current continent of Humania, and a battle that he may not be able to win. Until one of the spirits of the world breaks his deal with the Trickster, who must now fix it and grant Keith a boon. Which will push him to try and kill the first world monster, an Elder Troll. He has to hurry though as the Spirit of Life has sent a raid to kill the troll and Keith can’t afford to not be there when the monster is killed. His bet with the Trickster is he kills all the world monsters and he gets to live out a peaceful life with his family, if he loses, he will serve the Trickster for all time.
Keith and crew defeat the 1st world monster. He leaves the Pest Control Guild to start his own since Marj has gone crazy and let in everyone and changed the mission to not hunting monsters.
More spoilers below ...
Marj's character change was silly. Initially he is portrayed as a fighter, but suddenly he changes to just letting everyone in and taking money to promote them?
Cayla got whiny and afraid of cockroaches.
Keith's world item requires being a full blooded human, which should disqualify him since he is a Sortie now, but no mention of that.
The fight dragged quite a bit so I skimmed them instead.
I doubt I'll continue this series.

This book was so much fun, I loved it. The only thing that kills me is a couple of the inconsistencies:
In an earlier book, you said that when someone gets a skill to grandmaster they get 10 Stat points to allocate and when a skill hits sage, they get 50. Yet when hit grandmaster and sage in a lot of skills, it wasn't even mentioned and he received no points. The mc is missing something like 120 base Stat points because of this.
In this book you stated that the average level on the beast continent was 11. Now, at the end of the book, you're saying it's around 30.
I know these aren't the end of the world, but it really drives me nuts :(
Keith must defeat dungeons, complete quest toward his world quest defeat world bosses .
Keith running none stop completing quest left an right most in a time frame to finish them or get punished fiercely for not completely them. Some to save humanity in a small way . To twarp fiends kill monsters loot monsters collect items or ores, minerals, just everyday duties leveling up . With the help of his guide that helps navigate thru quest answer questions or with help with knowledgebase inquiries . Most of all defeating the first world boss .recommend reading excellent series .
This is a good end to the first part of Keith's adventure. A lot was going on, but this time it was mostly fighting instead of the last book's intrigues.
My one hope while reading this book was that Cayla would die. Sounds mean I know, but this character was annoying with her inconsistent moods. Like the worst example of a girlfriend or boyfriend who thinks they know you and want you but also wants you to change to accommodate their views of how they want you. Bleh!
Hm. So, for the most part, the book was finally about hunting monsters again. Well, mostly one monster, but there were some side bits and bobs.
I doubt I continue this series. There's nothing wrong with it, but I'm not particularly involved in the main story/character and the world building is. . ok. . but I'm not all that interested. I will say that the bit at the end does make me wonder if the next book could be interesting - a 10 level dungeon with an obviously geared reward for our mc. The parts with dungeons have sometimes been pretty good so, maybe.
In the same vein as the first two books, the skills and abilities are cool. The fights are pretty good as well, but the book struggles with making characters who are more than two dimensional. And the severe over use of the word “poop” especially attached to a stick. I can understand not wanting to use profanity in the book to keep it marketable to younger audiences, but if that’s the case then make up words or something.
3 books down, some spoiler here, bit upset there wasn't even a ...fling for our mc, but certain aspects here are very R rated while others are PG.. some story/character flaws though, he has an entire family he lived more of his life with on another world but still only talks about earth. Its annoying honestly. Other than those still a great read.
I'm so impressed with this series. I really enjoy the characters. The story is entertaining and well thought out. I've laughed out loud a few times. The fights are well written and the protagonist is pretty freaking great. Thank you for bringing this story to life, I am truly enjoying this adventure!
Aaron Oster has done it again!!! Another great book has been gifted to the world! This book is amazing and I enjoyed everything about it! Definitely would recommend this author and his other series.
As expected from Aaron this was a great mini series and looking forward to the next arc. It has everything one would want from this genre while being wrapped in a well told story. Recommend highly
It's a story of a man that just wants to go home. Keith has lived dozens of lives in different universe trying to return to his family. This is his first experience Leveling Up.
I’m really enjoying this series but there was a continuity issue in this book from book 1 that bothers me, won’t say what as spoilers and it’s not that big a deal. Still good plot, action, characters all round a good book.
It just keeps getting better. Litrpg just seems to naturally lead to long involved stories. If that is what you want this just what you get. Action and crunchy stats and increasingly harder adventures and better and better awards.
Without the mandatory, timed side quests this stayed on point. There was a goal that the MC worked toward, there were obstacles to overcome. It was a solid story with a bunch of game mechanics.
Same thing but with a world monster fight this time. And you know it's a world monster because 80% of the raid dies but the other 20% are absolutely fine with that for some reason.
I had lots of fun reading this book. Plenty of action, new characters and a good story. The monsters are pretty innovative and tough, with few pushovers. On to the next book!
I really enjoyed it. I'm very glad the mc is not into romance and is so smart. Excellent twist at the end there, but he's gonna do it right? Eventually?
