When Sophia Segarra, the owner of Time After Time Antiques in Havenport, finds a packet of love letters from the 1920s in her shop, she can’t help but fantasize about what it would be like to find a love like the one described in those letters. But even though she’s told the pearl necklace from her Halloween costume will bring the wearer to true love, she never imagined they’d transport her back in time to the Roaring Twenties. In 1928, Liam O’Connell is writing an article on the Main Street Bandits for the Havenport Herald while investigating the disappearance of his brother. He’s not having much luck with either and a trip to Tilly’s speakeasy on Halloween is about to make life more interesting.Liam’s reporter instincts tell him Sophia’s hiding something, and he’s determined to find out what. Will her secret keep them apart, or will they come to realize that time after time, love overcomes all obstacles?
A lonely antique seller is given a chain of pearls for her Flapper costume and told that they are magic and will take her to true love. Little did she know that on Halloween night, this would come true and take her all the way back to Havenport of 1928 with Prohibition, Speak Easies, bandits, and a handsome reporter. I love time travel stories and the Roaring Twenties to this was an easy choice to pick this one up and try a new to me author and series.
Time After Time is part of a multi-author multi-genre Havenport universe, but is also the sixth entry in this individual series, Witches of Havenport. As far I could tell from jumping in with this book, it is the companion story to the one immediately preceding it, Tricking the Beast. I could sense who had been former couples in the series, but only the couple from Tricking the Beast had immediate bearing on the story. I suspect it would have been best to have read it first, but that didn't forestall me from appreciating this one quite easily.
Time After Time is the name of Sophia Segarra's antique shop on Main Street in Havenport. She loves her shop and living in the small town where she has her friends that help with the loss of family since her parents' died. One day, she accepts a string of faux pearls for a trade and enjoys the little story of the pearls being magic and taking her to true love. At the very least, they will complete her authentic Flapper outfit for the Halloween party. Then events get fantastical as she lands in the past and must figure out how to cope while fighting an attraction with a man who wants her secrets.
In Havenport of 1928, Liam O'Connell is a crime reporter for the Havenport Herald and is hot on the trail of the Main Street Bandits though the trail is getting as cold as his search for his missing brother who disappeared a few years back. He doesn't believe Keenan ran off with anyone's wife or any of the other fantastic tales explaining his disappearance, but he knows Keenan was different when he came back from the war and was never happy or settled. But now, he rescues a beautiful woman from a mugging on the beach. Sophia is disoriented and confused- and he is pretty sure the lovely dame is lying, but about what? Not that this stops him from falling for her.
Time After Time is magical and heartwarming. I felt the romance of the story over and above all else between Sophia and Liam. She struggles with lying to this man who is everything she could have ever wanted and he senses there is a lot behind her lies and wants her trust. Back in the present, Keenan, Liam's missing brother and Reina the witch he has fallen for along with their whole extended family know that a lot is riding on Sophia and Liam finding a way to be together and Sophia staying in the past.
This is a story that doesn't agonize a lot over the time travel aspect other than Sophia not knowing if and how to tell Liam and how he will react. The conflict is there, but it's mild compared to other events unfolding in the story that gets quite suspenseful.
I loved the focus on the characters even the secondary ones and just enough detail so I could imagine the settings. It was an easy and quick read that was utterly satisfying as a result.
All in all, I was captivated and finished this one swiftly with a smile on my face even as I added the series and world of Havenport to my reading list to get all the backlist. Those who love uncomplicated and low-angst time travel stories should definitely give this one a look.

I have read another book in this series, even though I hadn't remembered that when I downloaded this book from a book review site. But as soon as I opened the ebook, I recognized the familiar front format. Namely, the book starts with an introduction from a woman with the supposed name of Candy Apples, This is followed by a fake front section of the Havensport News, the paper for the little town where this book takes place. The quirky “newsy” section is followed by the book blurb. All of this takes place before Chapter One. Frankly, I find this setup in general to be a little contrived. I also think that, while unique, it is still just an information dump (just prettied up); I would prefer to see this information rolled out slowly throughout the book rather than just having it thrown in these odd little sections.
That said, after you get past these parts, the book is actually very well written. The prose is engaging. The characters are well drawn. The plot is tight and well done. In general, I am a fan of time-travel romance, and I like the setup of this one: an old packet of letters, a pearl necklace, and a flapper dress—what’s not to like? How fun to go back to the Roaring Twenties. I have to say the cover is gorgeous. Our modern-day heroine transported to the past embodies the spirit of a flapper girl on that cover for sure. If you don't mind that kind of odd beginning as this book has, you will actually enjoy the book once you get into it.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I absolutely loved this story, the characters, the details, Georgie the cat, etc. I have to admit I’m generally a sucker for time travel adventures, but this one really touched my heart and even brought a few happy tears to my eyes at the end. Love was obviously a major theme, but so was trust, friendship, acceptance, forgiveness, family ties, and hope. I suppose it might have been nice had Heather been included at the final party so she would know what had happened to her bestie, but aside from that it was a brilliant tale of life and love in a small town across multiple generations.

A Halloween to remember. I have not read many tales set in the 1920s and not one time-travel one but I must say I enjoyed this one a great deal. An antique dealer, a set of pearls and, a Flapper costume sets the stage for our tale. Sophia loves what she does yet yearns for love little did she know that she may have to travel to find it. Liam a crime reporter in 1928 Havenport is in search of a story. The characters were great and that includes Keenan and Reina and the intrigue and suspense were so well done. I enjoyed reading this piece I hope you take a chance on it I am sure you will like it too. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Time After Time is the sixth book in the Witches of Havenport series and is a wonderful time travel romance.
The magic of love brings Sophia Segarra back in time to 1928 where she meets Liam O’Connell. I loved this beautiful story of a love that transcends time. There is wonder, secrets, and happiness to enjoy in this well-written and engaging story.
Magic, time-travel, true love and a bit of mystery are the main tropes of this book, and I have to say I'm a sucker for all of them. The author has done a wonderful job combining these elements and delivered a captivating story, set on Halloween. Well written, with great characters and an amazing plotline, fans of time travel romance will love this book.
