I grew up in the foster care system. Gave ten years of service to my country. Wandered the country finding work, until I found an awesome job with great opportunities. I finally found a place to grow roots. But then tragedy struck.
I grew up in a home full of love, where my sister was my best friend. I received a college education and landed my dream job upon graduation. I was on the verge of house hunting. But then tragedy struck.
Over eleven hundred miles separated us when tragedy found us. Is it possible for us to each find the healing that we need?
April lives in Indiana and is a mother to two, extraordinary daughters and their husbands. She has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her family means everything to her.
When not with family, reading, or writing, April enjoys walking, hiking, loves to travel and is most happy with her toes at water’s edge of a beach. She also looks forward to attending worship with her church family each week.
April Decton never aspired to be a writer. After fighting her first story for nearly five years, she gave in. She appreciates those that have encouraged her since the writing journey began and is in love with each story she's writes. April loves attending author events and meeting new readers at her table.
Decton picks up with characters from her debut novel. In "Tragedy Found Us," we spend time with Dane and Shelby's sister Ashley. I am a big fan of caregiver stories and April Decton did not disappoint.
Dane and Ashley are brought together after their lives take a wrong turn. They both need a companion and find solace in each other's company. A romance blossoms on their journey to health. The reader will discover Dane's backstory which will tug at your heart.
I feel like this is more of a family saga with a romance thread as we spend time with the growing family that Decton has created in her series. Love abounds and you will find yourself smiling at the end. Another heartfelt story from April.
I received a complimentary copy from the author, but all opinions are my own. I even bought a copy to own. Go Dane!
After finishing This is Us, I couldn't wait to dive into the second in this series, Tragedy Found Us. This second novel updates us on the lives of the Cade and Shelby in the first book, while bringing us along as we learn more about Shelby's beloved sistre, Ashley, and Dane, a dear friend of Cade's who has a torrid secret past with Shelby. I was actually shocked to read the actions Cade took to help take care of his family in the best way he knew how. I couldn't put the book down and read all night. It's that good! Another winner by April Decton!
Tragedy Found Us is the second book by this wonderful author and so good. I couldn't put the book down. Dane is involved in a work accident and Ashley faces a tragic moment leaving her job. Both these events change the characters in ways they would have never foreseen. This story proves life is unpredictable, but good things can happen if you allow yourself to trust in God and have faith.
I enjoyed reading this story immensely. A wonderful story of love and family. The story pulls you into the lives of the characters, as if you are part of the story. Definitely worth reading.
We continue the series following Ashley which is Shelby’s sister and Dean who we met in Book 1. This story was completely different from Book 1. This book does deal with faith amongst many other touching topics. I would say more depth into the characters and I could see the growth in Aprils writing as an author!
Ashley is a busy nurse, pretty much married to her job. There’s an incident that occurs when Ashley is leaving work that scars her and causes her to take a leave from work as she battles with nightmares nightly.
Cade had reached out to Dean after a conversation they had but it had been days no reply…. Which isn’t like Dean. Cade feels something is off and gets a call that Dean was injured on the job and is in a coma. Cade ask the nurse even though it’s not allowed to just let Dean her him and allow Cade to speak to him. She’s reluctant but does and sure enough it helps! But, Dean cannot be released from the hospital unless he’s got a live in nurse with him cue Cades idea of Ashley!
There are insight sparks between Dean and Ashley the moment they meet at the hospital. As, Ashley is staying with Dean. They both begin helping each other and of course living together only draws them together more. Dean opens up to Ashley and she’s his upbringing with her. Which allows us to understand Dean more as well. Dean hasn’t had an easy life.
If you’ve read Book 1 then you know about Shelby and Deans situation. How will Shelby react to this news? Could this work? This is a story of tragedy bringing two people together who help better each other! I highly suggest reading Book 1 before this one.
Holy Moly! April does it again! Watch out this new author is coming in full force! If you enjoyed book 1 you definitely need to read Tragedy Found Us. With already knowing the story of Cade and Shelby, you know anything is possible with love and faith. Tragedy struck, new love was found; with faith and love a family grew. Wow is all i can say! Can not wait to see where these stories go.
