Stolen Summer

Rate this book

I should be traveling around Europe this summer.

Instead I’m held captive by a hot doctor.

My father has always been a controlling jerk, but shutting me away in some institute for ‘behavioral issues’? That’s a new low.

I don’t care if the head doctor is the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen. No, I don’t care that his stern, clipped words make me shiver deep inside.

I’m not crazy, and I’m blowing this joint—letting it all burn as I go.

My father? Dead to me.
My future? Up in smoke.
The doctor? Well, he’s in on this sham. Isn’t he?

Except his gaze is so steady. His voice is so warm.

And maybe I’m not all alone.

Stolen Summer is a short and steamy instalove story, starring a feisty heiress and the only man she can trust.

**2.3/5 stars**

Poppy is the daughter of the governor and has always longed for her freedom. When she finally decides to she'll go and travel to Europe, her father sends her to an Institution that treats people with behavioral or emotional issues, falsifying her medical/behavioral notes and making sure she can't leave. There, she meets Whit, a doctor who can't seem to like her and who believes the notes to be true.

Meh.

Honestly, I don't have much to say about this novella. I didn't really like it. It was very underwhelming compared to other Cassie Mint books. It just fell flat and didn't hold my attention all that much.

“Beautiful. Not that it matters. Pretty places can still be rotten underneath.”-Poppy

Whit was serious and uptight while Poppy was feisty. They didn't have any chemistry in my eyes, and what could've been interesting was told, not showed. Apparently they spent a lot of time together, according to that one fleeting paragraph, and I was supposed to believe they were very attracted to each other. Right...

There was also no real conclusion to the problem with Poppy's father. It felt very rushed and incomplete. I think it had potential to be so much better. Bummer.

Would I recommend this novella? It wasn't bad but it was terribly lacking in passion. I couldn't connect with the story or the characters. I think some people might appreciate this novella but I personally couldn't get into it.

Doctor's Orders

3.5 stars - Whit and Poppy... Oh, what to say about them?

I’ve won the jackpot, alright. Had a taste of heaven. But I don’t get to keep him, do I?
-- Poppy Lennox

OK, so Poppy is dealt a bad hand with her controlling father. It starts with her planning the demise of her relationship with him. While that comes to a conclusion, it felt incomplete. That aside, the chemistry with Whit is nice and dirty but I didn't feel it. I just didn't like this as much as other books from Cassie. I'm not giving up.

What’s up Doc?

I liked this little Doc/patient read. Though I have to be honest, Poppy’s storyline stressed. Me. Out. I was almost as mad at her family and the staff as she was. I liked Whit a lot. He had an immediate connection to poppy even just through a picture. A good quick read.

What an entertaining, steamy, forbidden instalove novella! It starts off with Poppy being sent to an institution by her father. Whit is one of the doctors there. While figuring out a way to get her out, they fall for each other.

"I’ve sunk halfway to my knees before I realize: I’ve never kissed her mouth. I’m about to push my tongue inside her, and I’ve never kissed her lips. Fucking hell."

As always with Cassie Mint books, there's spice! I enjoyed it. Four stars!

A nicely written, very short, insta-love romance novella with a couple steamy scenes near the end. This author only ever writes novellas, and I often wish her books were longer with more detail, as she has very interesting plots and great characters. Blink your eye and the book's ended.

Could not finish.

It’s just too unresearched.

If the girl is checking into rehab .. the head doctor receiving her and showing her her cottage is sort of unthought of.

Secondly. I can’t stand the thought of a man or woman having an affair with a patient. It’s just too wrong.

It is in short written by the gen next for the gen next.

And probably needs one brain cell to be appreciated.

I didn’t take to the narrator’s voice. All wrong for my way of thinking.

So all in all. Nope 👎🏽

Poppy has an exciting summer planned, she has been looking forward to it. But her dad has other plans for her, and she does not have an option to say no. Her father deems her unstable and has her committed. But her wonderful doctor Whit is not fooled by her diagnosis and questions everything.

Cassie Mint does it again; this was a funny, steamy, quick little read.

Poppy is sent away to The Honey Cove Institute by her dad; he is a real piece of work.
Poppy hates life, and she's not in the mood for anything or anyone until she sees Whit, one of the doctors at the Institute. Things quickly heat up between them as they plan to take down her dad.

Stolen Summer
This is a Short Novella story

This book follows Whit and Poppy's story.. It was a good romance with a wee bit of steam near the end, Age Gap, sweet, Doctor/Patient Romance, Virgin Trope and fast read..

Whit is a doctor, He is sweet, kind, caring and knows what he wants, When he meets Poppy he does not know what she will be like because he read her records and they do not sound good but once he meets her then he starts to wonder why she is even here because she does not look like she is mad and need help, When he works out that her father done this to poppy over nothing then he helps her get her live back and also helps her to get back at her father which i though was sweet, He falls hard for Poppy

Poppy she was smart, sassy, swee6, kind and caring, She was never aloud to do anything that her father did not like because he had rules and she had to go along with them, She was always nice when she was with her father and his friends and done everything to make him happy, she wanted one thing for herself and once her father found out he sent her away, She falls hard for Whit

I felt sorry for Poppy because of the way she was being treated by her father because all he cares about is his job.. I liked when she could trust Whit to help her get back at her dad and i also liked how he looked out for her and made sure she was doing ok..

This book is packed full of:
⦁ Awesome characters
⦁ Doctor/Patient Romance
⦁ Hero takes care of his woman
⦁ Age Gap
⦁ Virgin Trope
⦁ A bit of Steam
⦁ Possessive Hero
⦁ Forced Proximity
⦁ Summer Theme
⦁ Sweet Strong Hero
⦁ Fast Read

I really liked the relationship between Whit and Poppy because the romance was sweet and Its nice to see that everything worked out and they got a happy ending..

Our parents often times shape who we are Poppy’s father is the Governor extremely strict a tab bit controlling so when she come home for the summer she tells him she would like to spend her summer traveling and of course he is deadest against it so much that he pays a doc. to write a medical reports all lies then had her committed to a Health Institution with no form of communication or no money to leave and she is to stay there for the summer to say she is hurt, upset is all an understatement. Whit sexy as all get out doc. assigned to her case from day one he can see there is nothing wrong with her just a controlling father creating medical cases that can be used against her later on or can be used to control her so they decide to work together to bring revenge to her father but neither of them planned the instant, intense attraction or the magnetic pull that have him crossing all ethical lines and the more time they are with one another the stronger the pull between them grows and putting a plan together is their goal but will they get their revenge on her father, will she get to travel as she planned, and can they find happiness with her father controlling her?.

Behavioral issues

Stolen Summer is a story this is different from what I thought it was going to be, but in a good way for me. The story is about Poppy Lennox, the twenty-two years old and has just graduated with her degree. But instead of going on the European adventure she has planned she is about to be taken to The Honey Cove Institute, all arranged by her rich and powerful father because of her "behavioral issues". The thing is that Poppy doesn't actually have any issues but she cannot fight back, at least not without the perfect plan to burn it all down. At the Institute Poppy meets Dr. "Whit" Whitaker. After reading her notes he is all set for a young woman who is out of control and a danger to herself. But what he meets is someone different than he expected. He is still wary of believing the story that Poppy tells him but after a week or so he realizes just what is happening. What happens next is some fireworks and growing love, but of course nothing happens until after Poppy is his patient and he has finally given up trying to exercise her out of his mind and heart.

Another fantastic Cassie Mint romance!! I can’t get enough of her books! Her writing is phenomenal with characters you will immediately love and a story that will pull you in from the beginning and hold you right the whole way through. The steam and tension in this book is scorching hot. Even touching her knee, known as “The Knee Incident” is super hot and I couldn’t get enough!

Poppy’s father is sending her to an institution for the summer. Not because she’s done anything wild or crazy but because he needs control. Whit is the resident doctor who’s expecting a spoiled rich girl but discovers she’s completely different. He fights his feelings but destiny can’t be denied. What will happen when he discovers the truth? What will Poppy do about her controlling and influential father? This book is a must read!! Get this book today and read their steamy story.

In this book Cassie Mint really made me feel for our heroine Poppy who has a controlling/abusive father and a miserable home life and all she wants is a little freedom. She wants to go to Europe on a trip she paid for herself instead she's going to spend her summer in a medical retreat that her father has her committed to. She jokes that she hopes that there will be a hot doctor there for her to get involved with and when she gets there and sees doctor Whit she can't believe that he believes the lies about her she wants her freedom. Whit can't believe the things that he read about Poppy are true after he meets her in person he'll do his own evaluation. You need to read this to see what happens with Whit and Poppy and to see what happens to her controlling father. I would recommend reading this book.

Poppy, daughter of a governor who wants to keep a tight leash on her. Im assuming shes is a bit of a party girl and dad is trying to keep her out of the public eye incase she ruins his career. She plans a summer trip to Europe but gets taken to a rehab like intuitional place instead that has full amenities like a pool. She meets a doctor Whit and swears shes doesnt have behavior issues that her father tossed her here to hide her from the world and he even went as far as to falsify her medical history. When Whit decides to looking what Poppy is saying the previous doctors are not around for comment on Poppy's file. Whit decides Poppy is right and calls a journalist to break the story open. As this happens Whit crushes on Poppy and finally commits to her "virgin" self and they live happily ever after.

Her dad is in politics, and she has always done what he wanted, but the one time she decides to do something for herself, Poppy's dad spread lies and sends her away. Poppy is a strong woman and is not about to let her father get away with locking her up.

Whit is a doctor at the care facility, most of his patience come because the want to, but Poppy was different. After meeting with her, Whit realized that what he was hearing and seeing with Poppy and what was in the file did not add up.

Whit and Poppy have a wicked chemistry, one that is an instant pull from the moment the see each other. Their story is a wonderful tale of twist and turns that you can't help but get lost in.

When Poppy’s Dad finds out she wants to spend her summer travelling he puts his foot down. As the Governor he is strict anyway but this gets out of hand when medical reports are fabricated and Poppy is sent to a Health Institute with her phone and purse confiscated. Once there she meets Whit, her assigned Doctor. He can quickly see that there is nothing wrong with Poppy. He works with Poppy to get revenge on her father. At the same time you can see their feelings grow towards each other. When they get together it is like nothing else. I loved this book. I was rooting for Poppy from the beginning. When she gets her steamy HEA it is brilliant.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This short love story begins with betrayal and deception. Poppy's father is a true piece of work. She knows it and now Whit is discovering that fact. This should be a taboo relationship but it has characters that make a real connection. I wanted more details to fill in a couple of holes about her being committed but overall it was a good romance. Once they set eyes on each other they both fall hard and fast despite the circumstances.

Poppy was planning on traveling in Europe this summer with money she saved. He father, the governor, has other ideas he is sending her away to an institute for her ‘behavioral issues’. When her father’s driver drops her off, she only has her clothes, her phone and purse are gone.

Whit has a new patient coming in that her father and doctor says she is harmful to herself. When he meets her something does not seem quite right, she does not appear to be a danger to herself. He is not feeling very professional to her either.

This is a steamy read with the patient wanting to play with the doctor.

Poppy (h) finds her plans to travel through Europe cancelled when her father uses his connections to have her sent to a private institution to address her behavioral issues. Luckily for Poppy, her doctor, Whit (H), realizes that the young woman before him doesn't behave in the least like her paperwork indicates and he doubts she should be there as a patient. Poppy and Whit are drawn to one another, and it isn't long before their relationship moves from doctor-patient to something much more. Short instalove age gap romance. A fun quick romantic read with HEA.

Poppy finds herself institutionalized instead of spending her summer traveling Europe thanks to her father who is the Governor and has connections. Dr. Whitt does not think that Poppy should be there because she doesn't display the traits of someone with behavioral issues. Will he work with Poppy to get her out and will it lead them to having a relationship that ends with them finding happiness? I connected with Poppy right from the beginning and was in her corner to get even with her father!

Poppy was institutionalised by her controlling father for booking a solo trip around Europe. He says she is out of control. When Dr Whitaker assesses her he agrees she is not ill or out of control. He helps her to get revenge. There is an instant connection between them but Whit try’s to remain professional. Sweet, steamy romance with absolutely fantastic chemistry and intriguing back story and a beautiful HEA.

I loved Stolen Summer. Poppy was sent on a forced vacation, only it wasn't a real vacation it was an institution to treat her behavioral issues and for her father to take control of Poppy's life. But when he got there, Whit, the doctor in charge, didn't see anything wrong with Poppy, on the contrary, he saw that she was the right woman for him. A delightful story of a steamy relationship between a doctor and his patient.

Not your typical love story

I’m not a fan of doctor stories most of the time but this one was different. The characters were interesting and the story was entertaining. I found it to be an enjoyable read. The trust that built between them was awesome. I would have liked to see what happened with her father and if he ever got what he deserved for everything he did but I guess I will just have to imagine. Their happily ever after made me smile. I recommend reading this book.

I would fall for the hot doctor helping me anytime. Whit is so dreamy and strict, but clearly has a soft spot and Poppy knows just the right ways to stay on his good books. Their start and before they decided to take the fall was filled with so much tension and chemistry, that it felt real. And once all of it exploded... Couldn't stop reading it, so good and catching.

I’d like to say that our MCs are complete opposite but somehow they fit together. She was even perfect for him. I liked the FMC, she is a fighter, even when she’s down, she is still fighting. It she wouldn’t have done it if not for him.

This is n enjoyable read that will definitely go to my “to be re-read” file.

This book was great, not quite what I was expecting but in a good way.

A lovely fast read, where you can really feel the characters connection (as much as you can in a short) and are rooting for them from the get go.

Interesting setting and set of circumstances leading to Whit and Poppy's meeting and a great little story and romance. The ending was perfect too.
