When Det travels home looking for peace, he doesn’t expect to find Hell.
“At that moment, in those seconds between seconds, when each pause is an eternity with its own history and beginnings and endings, I feel that the world is on a precipice. It is the pause before the disaster, the silence before the storm, the stillness before the crash. I look…and I wonder...is this the last day of my life?”
He must battle the insidious demons that have taken over his head, but he soon realizes that they aren’t just figments of his embattled imagination. They are real.
A. L. Masters lives in rural America. She studied business and enjoys cooking, hiking, and photography. When she's not dealing with more mundane matters, she can be found hidden away with her laptop and a mug of coffee. She writes apocalyptic stories to satisfy her craving for adventure and disaster (without the risk of death).
This book is actually scary, and I really enjoyed the read. Its definitely a page turner. I am a huge zombie lore fan and Thought I would switch it up, and this was a great read. If you haven't checked out A.L.s other books Invictus is awesome. Not a huge fan of her love stories, but that's just me. I would have given this book 5 starts if it weren't for the creepy, inappropriate age difference between the main character and his interest.... It was giving me Epstein vibes. He is 41 and she is barley18. We don't even know for sure if she is18..... Why? The book is so good it didn't need that. I really Joke the book, so I will read the series. I just hate I have to side step that. Could have made her 21.
Fun book, a little bit different type of apocalypse and an interesting cast of characters. I like her writing style and am working my way through her books. I like the balance of danger to hope, evil to good. Sometimes everyone in these sort of books is a murderous psycho. Like only the evil people survived. Evil or cowardly.
