Fascinating look at the history of placebos, what science has been done to better understand them, and what remains to figure out. I didn’t realize how robust placebo response can be in alleviating pain, or causing it in a nocebo response, and how much truly depends on the marketing of drugs and the confidence and warmth of physicians. Fascinating.
