“I… yes, I love you. But not in that way, I’m sorry, Squirt.”
With these words, Declan Mills broke Bree’s heart, and his own. By trying to save their friendship, Declan did something he’d never done before: he lied to Bree.
Bree picked herself up and tried hard to move on from her infatuation that had lasted nearly two decades. About time, right? Wrong. One night, the former best friends gravitate together, binding their lives forever.
Declan made a mistake by choosing friendship over love. But can he win over Bree’s heart again?
Declan is book four in the Lucky Irish series about the ups and downs of several Irish families in Austin, Texas. Each book is an interconnected standalone. As we read a new sexy romance, we can also catch up with favorite characters throughout the series.
Hi there! Click the FOLLOW button if you'd like to be in the loop about Anna's new releases!
Author of the Iron Vikings MC series, Moore Family series, Blazing Islands series, Lucky Irish series and the Winter Peaks series. Anna loves to write strong heroines and dominant alpha males 🥵 in heartfelt and steamy romance series. She has a soft spot for motorcycle romance series and big family romance series.
Declan and Bree have been best friends since they were kids. They have both dated other people over the last few years, Declan more so than Bree. The main reason for this is because Bree has been in love with Dec for years. She has been trying to find the courage to tell him but she is worried he will reject her and it will forever change their easy going friendship.
When Bree does get the courage to tell Declan the truth, things do not go the way she thought they would. Declan was surprised when Bree opened up to him about how she felt but quickly shut it down, declaring he didn’t feel for her in that way. Fecking liar.
Bree tries to move on, nursing her broken heart, she even begins dating again. Dec is having none of that though. The thought of her with anyone else does not sit right with him. I got annoyed with his jealous behaviour, it’s like Bree is his backup plan for the future while he does what he wants,
However, one night will change everything for them and hopefully now Declan will man up about how he feels about Bree, not just with actions, she needs all the words too.
This is the 4th story in the Lucky Irish series but the first one I have read. This can be read as a stand alone story though :) A really easy to read story with lots of side characters from the previous books. Low angst but there were a few different storylines going on to keep things interesting.
Bree has loved Declan since they were little kids, while Declan has always seen Bree as a friend. Eventually Bree shared her feelings with Declan and things didn't go over well. It took a fair bit of work for them to reconnect and find their way back to each other.
I loved how Declan showed his feelings, how he reassured Bree when needed and all the surprises they had along the way. I loved seeing how both of them relied on their family and eventually each other.
I loved this book, and really this whole series. I enjoyed this book so much I had a hard time putting it down.
We finally get Declan and Bree’s story and it’s really pretty good. there is a shocker in here about the girls mother...wow! I liked the book and look forward to Keenan’s story next.
This book was not what I expected. It in a good way. We got all the drama but so much quirky fun. The siblings made this book as much as Bree and Dec did. It was a fun great book.
Declan is the fourth book in the Lucky Irish series and is the story of Declan Mills and Bree Ryan. Bree and her family moved next door to the Mills’ when she was six and Declan was eight and have been inseparable since. Now that they are adults, Bree wants to be more than buddies and tells Declan that she is in love with him. Of course, he rejects her (men are stupid). All of this happened before this book starts. This story focuses on Dec and Bree trying to rebuild their relationship and take it to the next level. There is also a lot of drama and unresolved issues in the Ryan family and they are also addressed.
While each book can be read separately, I would recommend reading them in order. The characters are in all of the stories and there is plenty of foreshadowing as well as expanding on the couples from earlier stories. With all these big Irish families, this series could go on for a long time.
Favorite line from six year old Bree: “She’d wanted to make the sad boy next door smile”. Too cute.
This trope is my very favorite, and I so wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't. First off, it starts out well, and I'm interested. But it dragged on for me after that, and it felt boring. I'm also super annoyed at the FMC. Yeah, he hurt you; we get it, but that doesn't give her a licence to be a wack a doo and treat Dec so poorly. SPoiler Alert**********
When she finds out she's pregnant and runs away from him, not answering his calls, that annoyed me. But when everyone found out about the pregnancy before Dec, that super annoyed me. Then all of her sisters yelled at him for his reaction to Bree telling him, she's pregnant. When I felt like it was her who needed a slap upside the head. And then he goes on and on to apologize to her. Over and over.
No, just no. I just couldn't do this book anymore. I wanted to love Bree, to feel sympathetic towards her, but I got nothing. Honestly, it wasn't a terrible book, but it wasn't one I'll pick up and finish or read again.
This story is a whirlwind ride where Bree & Declan are trying to figure out their feelings for each other that they both have been suppressing since they were little kids. Bree has loved her best friend since she discovered the meaning of the word. But Declan’s rejection of her true feelings has her an emotional wreck and she doesn’t know if she can recover. Declan has been an Irish arseho*e and doesn’t realize what’s right in front of him until he almost loses her. This book is an epic love story and has a lot of bumps in the road but it’s so worth the wait. Happy Reading!!
Loving huge Irish families grew up together best friends they were. In love since childhood but afraid to act Declan finally is ready to move out out friend zone, but is it too late? Bree had a double shocking surprise for Declan. Fast paced, part of a series can be read as stand alone.
I really love this series! The characters are so likeable,(well apart from bree mum!) I think my favourite so far as got to be good old pops! The family’s are really close and take care of each other! It’s a really easy read to take yourself out of the real world for a bit! Can’t wait to see Keenan & Tommy story! Sexy fun Friends to lover HEA
Finally Declan got his head outta his @$$! I'm glad Bree made Declan work to earn her trust! Loved all the OF in this book as well as some new characters. Love, Irish family, friends, heat! Continued characters so read in order for optimal reading enjoyment! Free with K.U.
Mizz Anna created a tale of an Irish cop with a deadly case of OPEN-MOUTH-INSERT-FOOT Disease when it comes to his female BFF kindergarten teacher. Mizz Anna gets my top score of 5 fingers up &10 toes for this HILARIOUSNESS filled romance.
This is the 4th book in the Lucky Irish series. It is the story of Declan Mills and Bree Walker. Best friends since early childhood, they struggle with true romance.
Declan and Bree were both frustrating at times but glad they finally opened up to each other. I was surprised by the twists and turns. Can’t wait for Keenan now but back to Donovan’s book I go.
