Fresh off their escape from the doomed Yarasi outpost, Major Kal Zeris and the girls—Ash the fiery bounty huntress and Miranda the loyal fleet officer—limp to the rendezvous with Captain Ellis and the Stormrider. While the Dowd plot to sabotage the peace may have been exposed, an even deadlier threat lurks within the very heart of the Dominion.
And the key to understanding it—and perhaps thwarting it altogether—now lies with the beautiful Yarasi warrior slowly dying in Kal’s sickbay. Without her help, there may be no hope of unraveling the truth…or stopping a deadly insurrection that threatens to shatter the Dominion and plunge the entire Tartarus Cluster into war.
Insurrection is the second installment in The Lost Fleet series, an action-packed male power fantasy harem in the spirit of Battlestar Galactica, Mass Effect, and Star Trek (the good version).
Content Warning: This book contains numerous explicit male-female adult scenes and features unconventional relationships.
Sarah Hawke is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy in multiple genres, including erotica, harem, and bondage. Her books are known for their intricate world-building, twisting plots, and fleshed-out characters—and of course their many intense, steamy sex scenes.
If you are interested in "pure" traditional harem stories, The Lost Fleet is the perfect place to start! Wings of the Seraph is a shorter, older series but also hits most of the traditional harem notes. Shadow of the Seraph features a rotating male and female pov with some F-F scenes involving temporary futanari, so avoid that unless it is your jam!
Her fantasy universe features many types of erotica stories involving bondage (Elf Slave, all the Spider Queen books) and non-traditional harems (The Amazon's Pledge, The Amazon's Vengeance). She also has two ongoing fantasy erotica series with intense action and multiple points of view, War of the White Throne and The Blade of Highwind.
Another fun installment of the Lost Fleet series. Sarah Hawke does a fantastic job of combining world-building, plot, characterization, and sexy times. The heroes are doing their best to prevent a war between the Dominion and the other alien powers, triggered by accelerationists wanting to wipe out all of the aliens in the region. We have a lot more focus on Ash (the blonde girl) this time and I just don't care for her as much as Miranda. The new alien member of Kal's harem is interesting and is kind of a female Worf or Tealc. Fun book.
Meh. (slightly better than book 1, also slightly worse) This is just like book 1, except now with flashbacks. ...also the sex scenes seem to fit in with the narrative flow better than before, instead of the story coming to a halt, then the sex, the the story resumes. The overall writing is a shade better, but the plot got screwy. Dramatic plot twists do not thrill if they make no sense. Once again I lost interest about half way through. In this book you realize that some of the "Aliens" are just fantasy races in spaceships. Booooo!
Should probably be 2 stars but then I'd feel compelled to explain why and I just don't feel invested enough to make that level of effort for this.
The Lost Fleet: Insurrection By Sarah Hawke, is a erotic harem sci-fi novel set within her original sci-fi “Seraph” universe, and the second novel in her “The Lost Fleet trilogy.”
The story continues to focus on Dominion Spec Ops soldier Major Kal Zeris and his female companions bounty huntress Ash and fleet officer Miranda. After exposing the alien Dowd plot against the Dominion government. The trio find themselves on the run from a mysterious insurgent group. Their only hope lies in the hands of an alien female warrior slowly dying in their ships sickbay.
This series continues to be fantastic! This book paints a sci-fi universe you won't find anywhere else. Once you enter it, you won't want to leave, and the story will keep you enraptured from the first page to the last. This galaxy feels every bit as deep, vivid, and relevant as anyone could want, and the author Sarah Hawke nails the difficult task of describing it without bogging down the story.
And the story is epic. What amazed me most is that it didn't need to rely on the sex to hold my interest, though the sex was certainly a bonus! The love scenes are sizzling without feeling gratuitous, and they absolutely furthered the story, but it's the characters and their struggles that will grab you from the first page. This book has it all. Fierce protagonists, impossible choices, battles against terrifying alien enemies, you name it! You will care about these characters. And by the end of what can only be the second of many installments, you'll be ravenous to see what comes next. I certainly am!
Author Sarah Kawke continues to write a tense, steamy, action-packed sci-fi world told in a voice that flows smoothly from the first page to the last. Despite the less than full-novel length, it feels packed. It keeps its covenant with the reader by resolving a central arc, and it definitely leaves you wanting a sequel.
All in all, This story is definitely worth your time. Everything just worked. It's totally worth the credit if you're a fan of space opera genre. The story is full of action, intrigue and steamy romance. That I would most definitely recommend !
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.
Genre: Scifi spacefleet harem Power dynamics in harem: Girls are attracted to or love MC. MC is assertive. In this book the relationship takes on a more Harem-y vibe. Explicit/adult material: Explicit and very well done.
Summary: After the Attack Kal and his 2 girls are fleeing for their life, when their wounded guest suddenly wakes up and has her own ideas about what should happen next. Together Kal and his girls have to fight to figure out just what happened and who they can trust.
Narration Voice diversity: Good. Pacing and intonation: The story is expertly told. Sex scenes: Well done. Overall Narration: 4.5/5 stars.
The book’s strengths. - The introduction of a new girl again feels natural and the relationship developments feel real rather than "speed of plot". - Space fleet politics and possible war between interesting species. The world building is engaging and interesting. - The girls are very different both in personality and physicality, they have their own goals and flaws and feel like real people - The narration
The book’s weaknesses. - I can't think of anything I would like different.
I was on the fence to give this 3 or 4 stars. There was a fair bit of good, and sit that could use work.
We got some more character depth on other characters, and some flashback chapters to give some context for Ash and Kal, and how the current set up came to be.
Also, there was some good setting up some foreshadowing and payoff.
The rivalry he had, I was half expecting it to turn out different. In that regards it was an interesting change of pace.
The problems, well the end felt a touch deus ex machina. That does irritate me some. Also, kinda cliffhanger again.
Smut was pretty solid, not sure if it'll ramp up in the next book. Hopefully it does, though the pacing of relationships is... decent?
I'll give the next one a try, I'm on board of anything because I'm curious who the moles are in the dominion.
I like this book vastly better than the other two Seraph series. The protagonists are far more likeable and the story is more interesting and less cringey. It is overly-dramatic/extra/contrived/ridiculous at times and the sex is more violent/angry than loving but I skim/eye roll through some parts. The seemingly overwhelming opposition often requires deus ex machina to resolve in the protagonists' favour.
The story continues a strong action-thriller movie type plot, steadily introducing new characters and building this corner of the galaxy. The current characters do not get a lot of development, but it’s still breezily entertaining as brave warriors face mysterious enemies across space, while doing an excellent job of creating tension as well as vulnerability in the overpowered MC. The porn is still in there (maybe 20% this time), but if that is not your thing, you can skip those parts and still have a coherent experience.
Yet another incredible story by an amazing author!!!!! A truly enjoyable science fiction adventure that you will not want to put down!!!! Dynamic and engaging characters, action that is inspiring intense and the perfect mix of adult activities to enjoy!!!! You can not go wrong reading any of this authors works but this series really shines!!!!!
Love the series. It is well flesh out And exciting. Of the characters are still unique and of course adding. The problems in this particular universe are compounding and Of course we have an MC caught in the middle. Though technically a harem novel it fits comfortably in the space opera niche. So much so that the harem and sex portions are miner and almost irrelevant. I enjoy the series and the universe. The author has a winner here.. Keep up the good work.
The second book of this series is another great entry for this sci-fi/harem series.
The MC and his girls continue to be interesting and the inclusion of the Yasari girl was great as well. The plot is still going strong and catches my attention. The cliffhanger ending was also great.
And like before, due to this book being good, I decided to preorder the third book now.
This series is exciting with excellent character development. I didn’t want to stop reading since the plot shifted continually. I really enjoyed the diverse characters and the imaginative scenarios. The erotic scenes did not dominate the storyline but were a real benefit to bond with the characters. 5* definitely. The scenes were so well described it was like watching a film.
This is the first scifi book I have read in a LOT of years. Perhaps if I had continued reading them all those years ago thisnun to book would have been a five. As it is, there was a vast amount of terminology and weaponry in the book that was lost on me. This is not to say the author failed to portray the characters and sittings that even my uninformed mind could grasp. In the future I will read more si-fi.
Sarah Hawke has constructed a galaxy torn by war, deceit, and corruption, and then populated every planet, every ship with scoundrels, femme fatales, heroes, and heroines. And in one case, a cat. Strap in, you'll need to keep all appendages inside and secured until the book comes to a complete stop.
I'm glad I stuck with this after book 1. This one got way better, more interesting and more action! The spicy scenes are still a little weird but better than book 1 was. I enjoyed the flash backs to the past but I feel like they could have been situated into the story a different way. All in all, im really enjoying this series! I've already started book 3!
Second in a series and what a bit of intrigue as well as a few twists. This is a strong MC, well defined supporting cast and a very compelling story. I look forward to reading the next chapter of this story.
This is an excellent book that has it all. There is plenty of action, intrigue, suspense and enough sexual activity to keep you occupied. I highly recommend this book!
The author has done a great job in presenting an ongoing gut-wrenching mystery in space with a manly hero and beautiful women trying to solve the mystery and stop an interstellar war.
Miranda and Ash are two different love interests for Kal Zeris. He is an super soldier in the Dominion. Together with the two lovely ladies, he uncovers a conspiracy about the Lost Fleet. Both women appeal to different sides of Kal, and end up in his bed. With her space missions, space politics, space sex, alien races, Sarah Hawke built a solid world combining elements from Mass Effect and Star Trek. All elements are set for a harem great series. Great stuff!
This series is extremely well developed and continues not build at a wonderful pace and with excellent plot development. The characters are brilliant! Bring on Book 3!
Kal, and his women Miranda and Ash are joined by Valrys a Kirashi and dig deeper into who is trying to start a war. A long dead race, the doud, have been brought back to life, and it appears that someone in the dominion is helping them. But why?
What a masterpiece, the ending was something else. I absolutely can’t wait for book 3. If you enjoyed book 1 this one is even better absolutely can’t get enough of this series.
Wow, such a good story, interesting characters that we genuinely care for, a sinister plot, suspenseful action and smoldering sexy times, highly recommended
