This episode is Book 2 of the Protecting his Highlander: A Time-Travel Romance (Reunited in the Highlands Series Two), written most excellently by Laura Wells. This episode continues where the first one ended. Because of his job as a bodyguard in the 21st Century, Harvey pushed Isabel out if the way and was shot by an arrow that was meant for Isabel. He is injured, but the old healer woman pulls the arrow out, sees up his wound, and puts a thick salve on the wound, then bandages. He realizes that he does not have access to sterile medical procedures because they were nonexistent in the 15th Century. The next day, he meets Isabel's father, the Laird of the clan, and the Laird thanks Harvey for saving his daughter's life. Since Jamie, A friend of the clan is away on a hunting trip, Isabel's father has Isabel train Harvey on how go use a sword. Most of this episode was about Isabel training Harvey, as well as her innocent feelings for him. After their training sessions, he was alone, thinking about his little girl in 2022, and that he needed to get back to her. He decides that he will tell Isabel about him coming from the future. Will he? You really have to read this series. The characters are so lifelike and their personalities jump right off the pages. I gave this episode 5 big fat stars, just like I did with the first book of this series.
Book Two of the Reunited In the Highlands Series, this can be read as either a standalone novel or part of the series. If read as part of the series there are a few little gems that the reader can pick up on. Once again the well is up to its unique tricks. This time it takes an unsuspecting single father and dumps him back with Clan McEwan. A bodyguard who is needing a bit of time to heal, Harvey, has to make some quick adjustments to adapt to the world he is plunged into. Isabel, is our head strong, warrior that is the lords daughter and is suffering from the confinement of the time period she is born into. Wanting to be recognized as just more that a pretty piece, she defies her father at every turn. The two are thrown together and new revelations await them both. As do new feelings that do not want to be denied. The story unfolds organically as these two find their way. In an attempt not to cause a spoiler alert, I can only say that the reason I love this particular book in the series is because of it's unexpected turn of events. It is truly a unique find in this genre. I received an advance copy of this book and I am leaving my voluntary honest review.
Series 2 Book 2 Isabel’s father finally gives her some responsibility in allowing her to take on Harvey’s training. These few chapters have Isabel teaching Harvey to sword fight so that he can also help her clan from further attacks. Harvey being a quick learner is very impressed with Isabel. Seeing her as a respected warrior AND a very beautiful woman. Isabel also let’s down her guard and realises she has growing feelings for this man who took an arrow for her. Will Harvey find his way back to his daughter in the future? How will he leave Isabel behind knowing he is starting to care for her? Another great few chapters of a novel I’m thoroughly enjoying. I received a copy of this novel for my fair and honest review.
What seems unrealistic becomes a sweet story of two people searching for fulfilment. It is easy to just accept that Harvey fell into an enchanted well in 2022 and found himself in 1452. The healer in Clan McEwan's castle gives a bit more to the legends and how the well works, when she advises Isobel that going forward is a non-return trip. The relationships in the story are poignant, but I was a little shocked that Isobel did not say goodbye to her family, especially her father, and perhaps her brother. Finding Ewan was a tad too convenient, but magic was involved, so it's plausible. Skylar is delightful! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
He saved her life, and she saved his right back A story about time travel is tricky business, but this book has enthralled me. If you love Scotland and Highlanders, you will love this book. Scotland’s rich heritage of legends and stories is fascinating and serves as basis for a love story across the centuries and cultures.
Two people from across the years will be united in this wonderful time travel love story. Life is never going to be the same again. Will they be torn apart? How will they cope in the past or the future? Will they have a happy ending? Sit and see if they will have a happy ending
In this book Isabels father lets her handle Harveys training and her father says shes a good swordsman. Lucky for everyone Harvey is a quick learner and will hopefully get a chance to help protect them against the enemy clans.
Harvey took the arrow that was meant for Isabel. He came through a well that was bewitched and into another time. Thank you Laura Wells for a wonderful time travel. I wish I could time travel but not in a well.
Much soul searching continues in this second instalment of Protecting His Highlander. And the cliff hanger from the previous novella is resolved with a sigh of relief from the reader!!
Harvey is brought to meet an important clan person and to Isabel’s astonishment, she is given permission to train Harvey in sword work.
But how is Harvey going find his way back from 1453 to his daughter Skylar in 2022?
Harvey determines to do something the next time he speaks with Isabel but will he carry it through? The next instalment will reveal the answer…and in my opinion…I HATE cliffhangers!!!
The writing is good as it makes the reader long to find out what happens next and the romantic sparks are also slowly igniting to make the reader wish for more.
Received this as Advanced Reader Copy and this is my own opinion.
