Victory is sweet. Victory is hard fought. Victory is mine. And once I claim her, I’m never letting go.
I met Tori when she was there to support my twin. Seeing how much she cared started my headlong fall into love. And I started my campaign.
Women have always come easily to me. But sex and love are two different things, and while Tori’s willing to indulge in the former, she’s fighting against our building love. And she’s got a knockout punch in her arsenal.
Good thing the gridiron taught me to work hard for Victory. And even better, my shadowy life gave me a few extra tricks. Because when someone tries to steal my Victory, it’s all-out war, and I refuse to lose.
This book is not for the faint of heart. It will tear your heart out and stomp on it before putting it back together. The characters are not perfect and the heroes are flawed. If you’re looking for sunshine and rainbows, I suggest you try another book. But if you want real emotion with a happily ever after, then you’ve found your book.
human trafficking, sexual assault, violence, kidnapping, talks of rape, abuse
Louisiana-born and raised Nola Marie loves spicy crawfish, rock music, high drama, and all the glitter, despite being extremely introverted with a severe case of anxiety. As a child, she preferred her imaginary friends to real ones and fiction to reality, a condition that has lingered and grown, and in 2019, she decided to share the voices in her head with the world.
When she's not writing, she can be found with her nose in some other fictional world or having conversations with people no one else can see, but it's okay. She's a writer ;-)
Feel free to find her and yell about her dramatic character through Instagram or Facebook. She loves to hear from you.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
Since I read Jax and Zoey’s story in book 1 of this series, I’ve been waiting for Zane to find love. From the first moment I met Zane, I had a place in my heart for him. Easy to Diane’a shallow player, but he has such depth once you looked closer. And this book, his story showed that perfectly.
The story line was complex enough to remain interesting, and both Zane and Tori had enough flaws to make them believable as well as enough good aspects to make them lovable. This was a brilliant story overall.
While there were a few typos, they weren’t enough to distract from the story, or subtract a star from my rating. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author!
This is the 4th book in the Men of River City books, and for me the best one so far. Tori and Zane are drawn to each other, but even though Tori fights it, they do fall in love. Of course the Mafia have to start their nonsense, with illegal fighting, gambling and the slave trade; Rory, Bastian, Jax and Zane will protect with everything that they have to keep the women they love safe. We got to see marriages and births rounding up these wonderful four books; a feeling of series end? I so hope not, as there are a few characters that need their stories telling, Maddox needs his told first as he so the deserves his happy ending. I do recommend the series as whole, something to enjoy in these miserable days.
This story is passionate, powerful, sexy, hot...I loved it! I was transported to a world I know nothing about but the characters were believable and I trusted in them immediately. It is ultimately a beautiful love story about two people who are undeniably drawn to each other but have to overcome personal battles as well as major life battles. I got a little bit lost with some of the names at the start but that’s my fault as I stupidly didn’t read the novels in order! So all I can say is, go read the whole series! This writer sweeps you along on a journey that will make you fall in love, make you cry, and make you fear for the characters. At times it’s thrilling, at times it’s pure romance (with some serious chemistry!) Loved it!
Violent Victory is the final book in the River City Series by Nola Marie. It is the story of Zane Valen and Tori Reese. Zane is a professional football player with deep roots in the mafia. Tori is an up and coming tattoo artist. These characters were introduced in book one of this series. Zane is Zoey's twin. Zoey is Tori's best friend. These two were brought together after a horrible incident involving Zoey. Zane has decided Tori is the one and will do anything to get her to take a chance on love. Tori "doesn't do relationships". After months of back and forth Tori's walls begin to crumble and she gives into Zane. The end right, WRONG. Tori gets caught up in a world she is not familiar with to protect her sister who was taken. Zane must now lean on his ties to the underworld to save the woman he loves.
Nola Marie has done it again! Just when you think there will be a HEA she throws in a twist before the HEA. If you like romance with a dark twist this is for you. 5 stars
The perfect ending to the series...except I still want more. This was Zane's story and I must say I've been waiting for his story since book one. While initially Zane seemed like a shallow player (even his sister thought so) we discover through the books he's not. He helps all of his friends accept love and go after what they want. All the while we never realized he was doing exactly the same. At least not until now. Now we can see what Zane was really doing all this time. He was following his own advice, chasing after love. Taking love. The story was fitting for the character and I couldn't put it down. I really hope the author gives us more of these characters in the future.
Talk about full circle. Zane and Tori start from book one and we see where Zane was or what he was thinking throughout the entire series. Surprise - it was Tori. He set his sights on her and that was the end of it. Tori tries hard to fight what she's feeling but Zane is relentless and persistent. He doesn't so much chase her, as he makes certain she knows he there and not going away. Not very often do we see the guys giving the ultimatums but when Zane does. Its a doozy. This book could not have been a more perfect end. Nola Marie hints at the end of the book that Maddox's band is coming soon, and I can't wait. Maddox has been on my mind since book one and Zane's book gives just enough to make you want more. Guess I can't wait for Sons of Sin.
The conclusion of this series was spectactular. Zane whose character has slowly shown a bit more depth with each book is finally reveal and he is not disappointing. He is probably the most straight forward of the men and easily the most thoughtful. Tori is a spitfire and a impressively independent and fierce female lead. She is headstrong and stubborn but just as loyal as her male counterpart. This book took us back to the first and we see how Tori and Zane's relationship evolves and how Zane relentlessly pursues the girl he know is the one. I really hope more books are to come. I want to know Maddox's story. Does he ever get over Zoey? I also wouldn't mind finding out a bit about Christian and Hunter's dynamic. Great job Nola Marie
“Go get her... go get your girl. Get that F**ker’s hands off of her.”
Wow, book 4 of the Men of City River is a swirl of emotions. Zane is the silly, fun loving, but also tough as steel when it comes to protecting his family and the ones he loves. I wanted to give him a hug through this whole story.
Tori was a “fighter” and she rocked! She was strong and fearless. But her only weakness was Zane. Gah, these two had such a chemistry!
I watch as he crosses the room with fierce determination. Fire fills his eyes. Lust radiates from him. And possessiveness I didn’t know he was capable of...
Book 4 was packed with hot moments, action, and just overall enjoyment. Highly recommend this whole series 💫
The Men of River City series is one of the best written about mafia influence and family ties. Difficult scenarios about the dredges of evil and harm that can be inflicted will have you on the edge of your seat until the story plays out . Nola Marie has turned out outstanding reads one after another. Each are fresh, flirty, and steamy! Yet, she weaves in heartfelt stories of how a woman vacancy be hurt, yet find ways to overcome and become better a stronger woman regardless all while falling in love with a really hot guy! Nola Marie’s books are synonymous with being the best romance reads found on any book platform! Always one can count on a HEA and you will want to read her books cover to cover !
This was a gritty love story, there were So many ups and downs and twists and turns. I really enjoyed it and finished it in a day. It’s part of an interwoven series so initially I was confused but quickly caught on. Essentially this about two characters who fall for each other but take a while to get together. It’s also where the guy falls first and does everything he can to earn the trust and respect of the woman he loves. I’ll definitely have to Read the authors other books to read all the other characters.

So Zane gets his HEA. Nola Marie’s couple sure go through Hades to get there, especially the women. These can be seen as dark. Mafia. Trafficking. Rape. Beatings. Entitled “men” who think they can take what they want. And the River City family who put them to ground to get the girl.
Very bad grammar and editing. We all learned in grade school it is never “we have went”. Cringe worthy. But the stories are good. And this is a great lead in to the Sons of Sin, which I started first and hope to continue as they are published.
Heartstopping brilliance, this is not your typical sports or mafia romance. This is so so much more... The twists and turns are beautifully put together and the story all encompassing... I struggled to put this book down, I was so sucked into Tori and Zane's story.
It doesn't really matter which order you read these books in as they're all Stand-alones, I've picked a different couple that drew me to them each time... I will say it does give you spoilers to do it that way but I don't mind that if you do go back to the beginning you will not be disappointed...
I am actually writing this review cor the whole series. I have had so many emotions with all four of these books in this series.
From the love of three best friends, two of the three are brother and sister and all of the extended brothers there is so much love, danger, protectiveness, and possessiveness from ALL of the men. They know what they want and they go for it.
I love the fact that Zane is a country boy. Ha! ‘darlin’ Oh Zane...you’re almost too smooth. This was also very sweet but Tori...and her emotionally detached self needed to get a grip. Let the man in for heaven sakes! Loved this story.
I loved reading this story. I loved the characters, plot and storyline I loved all the ups and downs, all the twists. It will keep you turning those pages.
Loved how four strong mafia / football players men can be brought to their knees by four very strong women and each have the own story to tell and how the each stand by one and other
I really didn’t want to like you Zane. By the end I liked you. Beautifully written a great pace to read. Also if you like Maddox he appears in this book quite a bit. The ending was a great wrap up to this series. Seriously just read all of Nola Marie’s books they are so good.
He's always the one telling his friends when they are all in with a woman. He watches, hiding behind his playboy persona, and he sees everything, even what you are most trying to hide.
She is a fighter and fiercely independent, rebelling against anyone who tries to tell her what to do or how to feel, even if they are right. Especially if they are right.
So if you love watching the cocky playboy MMC meet his match in a feisty holds no punches (literally and figuratively) FMC, this book will give you just that. Throw in some underworld drama and an overprotective brother to make it even better.
Love this story! Such a wonderful ending and all characters happy with the loves of their lives. All the feels of angst, tragedy, mafia and loves! Great series!
Zane and Tori are instantly drawn to one another but whilst Zane puts his all in Tori is rather hesitant and pushes him away. they have both been through a lot but can they find happiness together if there only willing to try? well written a great addition to the series thats held my attention through out.

Zane - I've been (not so) patiently waiting to hear your story...and it was totally worth the wait. From the previous books in the series, I knew it would be Tori.
I really didn't like Tori much, initially. Zane was available (as much as possible), respectful, treating her as she deserved and open with this feelings. Yet Tori continued to push him away as she didn't "do" relationships. She was so defensive and always pushing (most) people away. It makes some sense from her background, but I did want to pop her once or twice. A big turn with major suspense made her see the light, barely, before she lost him.
You get tattoos, rock bands, super hot chemistry, a bit of MMA fighting, Maddox (um, what?), babies, family & soul deep love.
The whole series is worth it. Hit you in the heart, rip it out and put it back together. Go read it now!.

Prepare yourself before you open this gritty, realistic novel showing the worst and the very best of that condition called being human. Gird your loins and prepare yourself for the read of a lifetime! This story felt epic in the scope of emotions I experienced as I read through Nola Marie’s latest novel, Violent Victory. The novel centers around two people destined to be together amidst the violence of rape, human trafficking, underground fighting, the Mafia, drugs, alcohol and excesses of every kind. Tori, the child abandoned and put into foster care until she is rescued by a man with nothing but kindness and wisdom in his soul. Tori has recently discovered she has an older brother and a younger sister and develops a fiercely protective bond with both as she goes about her days creating amazingly beautiful tattoos that are noticed and admired by artists as far away as California. Tori also did a lot of fighting and won trophies, accolades and serious recognition as a respected fighter. And, Zane, a renowned football player who happens to be one half of a set of twins (his sister Zoey is the other half, who has been through trauma and illness, and just come out of that as the story opens). The way Zane goes through women is legendary! Yet the moment he sets eyes on Tori for the first time, he is knocked off his feet! And Tori cannot keep her eyes from staring at Zane. Their attraction is instantaneous, both physically beautiful people who have experienced the best and worst life has to offer. And there are secrets kept between both of them as Tori hopes to get into and out of bed with Zane to get him out of her system, while Zane resists his and Tori’s urges because he knows deep down inside that Tori is someone he has never and will never find again, so he wants to make sure they are in this for the long haul. I won’t give away all the adventures and situations that they encounter, but I will warn the reader to buckle their seat belt because Ms. Marie will toss and turn you throughout the entirety of their journey! The reader will experience frailty and emotion that will ring out every bit of joy, fear, angst, love, hate, and every kind, type, and manner of feelings in between. This is a great story, hot beyond measure and so emotional and frightening in parts you will not know how to handle all the feelings that will whack you in the head! Get this book and hold onto it with two hands!!
Another incredible story and what a way to end the series! Nola Marie is such an amazing writer! She has you feel everything even when you try to prepare, you can’t really. I’ll admit, I’m going to need some lighter reading material for the next day or so, but that’s not hard to find. What is hard to find in a author that can repeatedly rip your heart out, set it on fire, smash it into ash and reform it again by the end of a book, and boy can Ms. Marie do just that! I was glad to get Zane and Tori’s story, and it was a great way to close out the series. I highly recommend not just this book, but the series too, just have your tissues handy.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

What a way to end the series with Zane and Tori. Another 5 star read from Nola Marie. This story wasn't quite as traumatic to read as some of her other stories but Zane and Tori are awesome. From the moment Zane sees Tori in the hospital room, he is instantly attracted to her. Tori is attracted to Zane as well but plays it off. She is not one for relationships. There is a lot of misunderstanding going on between Zane and Tori. Tori is Zane's match, she's tough, smart, and isn't about to just fall for Zane's charm. These two lead a merry chase back and forth across the country. But when danger gets in the way, the gloves come off and their enemies will see exactly what these two are made of.
This series is amazing and I life the characters. Zane meets the one but Tori resists, over and over. Tori finds herself targeted and hides it from everyone. Once Zane discovers what is going on, all the boys get together and rescue Tori and her sister. Did not want to see this end.
WOW!!! What a way to end the series with Zane and Tori. From the moment Zane sees Tori in the hospital room, he is instantly attracted to her. Tori is attracted to Zane as well but plays it off. She is not one for relationships. There is a lot of misunderstanding going on between Zane and Tori. When Tori decides to not tell Zan and Jax some vital information about Zoey, Zane is pissed and basically ghosts her (only after she ghosted him!) Both characters have gone through some hard times dealt with tragedy. Some of their actions, you just want to slap some sense into both! Communication is something both Zane and Tori need to work on – seems like a lot of the misunderstandings could have been avoided!
Be ready for an emotional roller coaster of a ride. You will feel all the emotions while reading this story. Tori might seem like she is broken when she is as much of a bada** as Zane. You will do anything you have to so you can protect your family. There are a few twists, violence, blackmail, but most of all there is a family just waiting to help each other out.
I am a little sad to see this series end ☹ I have loved getting to know each of these characters more in-depth. Nola Marie did a wonderful job throughout all her books with her descriptions. She made me feel like I was right there in the middle of all the action. I felt the pain, heartache, joys, and fear right along with each of the characters. I look forward to reading more from Nola Marie in the future and planning on going back and reading some of her other series. This was a good and fun read... I'm done with the series and now I don't know what to do with myself. I'm so used to having these characters as part of my life every day and I've read sons of sin but now I feel like I have to reread it so I can get a glimpse of these beautiful characters that have warmed their way into my heart.
Zane is such a beautiful man, thoughtful, confident, smart. I love how insightful and self aware he is. He isn't perfect, never claimed to be but he does his best to love the people in his life the best way he could. He's charming and patient and so many other adjectives and I don't even think I'm doing him justice.
Tori is strong, beautiful and confident. I love how she fights fiercely to protect her loved ones. Her life wasn't easy but she doesn't feel sorry for herself. She is fearless.
Together they make the sweetest couple because even though Tori has reservations about their relationship at first, she doesn't deny that there's something there and tries not to hurt Zane intentionally but it happens anyway. And the way Zane just swoops in and charms her pants off is so adorable because even though a lot of things seemed like redflags were Tori was concerned, he gave himself time to honour his feelings while also trying to understand her and gave her the time she needed to realize what she was feeling.
I'm glad a happily ever after was guaranteed and delivered 🥰😊
