Really enjoyed this frontier adventure. Effortless reading, most chapters were 20 or so pages, and I found it pretty easy to rip off several chapters per sitting. Clay, the main character, returns to his family farm after taking part in the Lewis and Clark expedition only to find that an old feud with a rival family has not died in his absence. Things escalate, blood is spilled and Clay, along with his younger brother, are forced to flee to the frontier in order to avoid further bloodshed. Two-fisted, manly adventures ensue for the balance of the book, but this is only the first entry in a trilogy of novels. James Reasoner is a seasoned author, and he writes this historical yarn with obvious knowledge of the era and plenty of enthusiasm. I will definitely be reading the additional books in the trilogy.
