Well how someone commented on their review about the language and violence.. I can understand not wanting to read a book if it makes you uncomfortable but that's how it was back then, rough and tough.. We're talking about a new frontier not sense and sensibility or biscuits and tea with the queen lol

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm going to read all the novels she has written. I love historical romance during the frontier days.

This one has been kicking around our cottage for ages, finally got it done. I think I have read later books by this author but not sure if they are in this series. If you like to root for the underdog then these books are for you, they are kind of like a more disastrous Louis L'Amour.

Really enjoyed this frontier adventure. Effortless reading, most chapters were 20 or so pages, and I found it pretty easy to rip off several chapters per sitting. Clay, the main character, returns to his family farm after taking part in the Lewis and Clark expedition only to find that an old feud with a rival family has not died in his absence. Things escalate, blood is spilled and Clay, along with his younger brother, are forced to flee to the frontier in order to avoid further bloodshed. Two-fisted, manly adventures ensue for the balance of the book, but this is only the first entry in a trilogy of novels. James Reasoner is a seasoned author, and he writes this historical yarn with obvious knowledge of the era and plenty of enthusiasm. I will definitely be reading the additional books in the trilogy.

Very interesting references to Lewis & Clark's expedition that Clay Holt supposedly went on although I could find no reference to that name in Undaunted Courage.

May sound somewhat repetitive here but I got hooked on the first book and it was like an addiction.
The author shows how the westward movement affected families and individuals while placing them within history itself.

This book was pure pulp and I loved it. It is a love I don't let myself indulge in very often, which makes it more enjoyable when I do. This book was the story of the west from the perspective of a man who went along on the Lewis and Clark discoveries.

There was language, sensuality, and violence. I almost didn't finish this book. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Well written book with a lot of historical detail. Best if whole series (three books) is read sequentially.
