Because of Me

Rate this book
She aspires to be the girl he deserves.

Becca Mills is desperate to give her son a better life. To do that, she heads to a new town where nobody knows her, except her mother and her mother’s dealer. When Becca meets Dereck, a tatted mechanic who enjoys making her blush and earning her smile, things get complicated. Who does she trust? The man who knows all her secrets? Or the man who looks at her like she’s his everything?

He’s determined to prove she’s worthy of love.

Dereck Pemberley knows what it’s like to live with regrets. He’s had to carry the guilt of his brother’s death for the past three years. However, when he meets Becca, there’s something about her blushing face and hard-earned smile that makes his guilt and sobriety bearable. She may believe they’re too different, but Dereck knows better. He’ll stop at nothing to keep the girl he loves safe when harm has it’s hands wrapped around her throat.

Trigger Warning: This book is intended for a mature audience. Some may find the contents triggering. If things such as violence, strong language, drug abuse, sexual content, sexual assault, and rape bother you, this novel may not be for you.

Check you content warnings this book has some very heavy triggers!

Now that that is out of the way. This is a slow burn romance our FMC and MC are both dealing with some pretty rough past and present Trauma. As someone who has experienced trauma that was relatable to our characters it was so nice to see them come together and learn to trust, open up and love each other regardless of the scarred pasts. Even with all the sadness in this book I still managed to laugh and smile during the happy moments and I and still try to figure out what the heck Derecks nickname for Becca is!

Katie Pearson managed to write an emotional and painful book in such a beautiful way. It felt like Katie was reaching out and saying I see you, your not alone. I experienced trauma much like some scenes in this book I felt Heard when reading this book.

Before I get into this review please make sure that you check the TRIGGER WARNINGS before you read this book.

Now to get into this review. I read this book within a few days. I honest found that I kept picking it up because I wanted to know what was going to happen with Becca and Dereck. I love this book so much. Everything that Katie wrote in this book is so relatable, real and even traumatic. Thank you Katie for writing this book so beautifully and your characters are amazing. I love Becca and Dereck's love story.

I feel in love with Becca as a character because I can relate to her. She goes through the book trying to figure out the right way of getting Nate while being screwed over by the people that should be helping her. And yes Becca makes some decisions that in the grand scheme of things don't pan out the way she is hoping. But she keeps trying to do the best with what she has and how she was raised. I also really enjoyed seeing Becca's inner struggle with herself when it comes to pretty much everything in her life.

Then we have Dereck. He is such an interesting character. In spite of his personal short comings with his past with Logan. He always puts Becca first and does his best to follow her lead when it comes to her situations. Even though he struggles because he really wants her to make different decisions especially when they first started dating. At the end of the day he finally steps back and just helps give Becca the support that she has never had but desperately needs. Dereck is the guy that we all hope we find in our significant others in real life.

Becca and Dereck as a couple struggle just like we all do. They both of course have a difference in opinions when it comes to some situations. And they eventually figure out how to talk to each other about their trauma's, their goals, and helping each other through their feelings. It is so beautiful when they finally are able to have those moments. I love when they are at Steph's house after the first event with Randy. And Becca is freaking out and in her head. And Dereck stops and focuses on Becca and just sings to her to calm her down. Then when she meets Dereck's parents for the first time and are looking at Logan's work and Dereck has a melt down. She lets him cool off and when he comes back she talks to him and comforts him. These two are amazing for each other and really do their best to support each other.

Of course there are some major plot points that I don't want to put into this review. Those moments and situations really need to be read and enjoyed the way Katie has written them. As before mentioned please check your trigger warnings. There are some heavy topics around abuse, addiction, neglect and loss. So please be prepared before reading this.

Thank you again Katie for writing this amazing book. It was such a roller coaster ride of emotions. But I loved every word of it. And am truly excited to read the next book in this series.

This was one of those books that is exceptionally hard to read because the characters are going through very dark lives but the story hooks you so much you have to take your time reading it. BG is one of the toughest cookies I have ever meet. She can go through so much and yes she does not come out unscathed but she survives and still worries more about others. I don’t want to give away to much, yes this is a extremely dark slow burn romance but to me it is more a incredible story about overcoming the odds with a romance in it. I can not wait to read the next book and hope we find out more.

I loved this emotional, slow burn romance between two characters who have dealt with and are still dealing with rough trauma. This book was beautifully written with relatable characters who came together and not only learned to trust one another and open up, but also love each other and accept each other with their pasts.

I devoured this book like it was water/ I was absolutely captivated with the story and the characters. This was a really emotional book that deals with heavy and sensitive topics. It was a difficult book to read at times and I love it despite all of that. I can’t wait for the sequel and more of Derek and Becca!

Check trigger warnings before you read this book!!!

Wow. . . .

Just wow. . . .

Because of Me is one of those rare books that immediately draws you into the story with the characters and the plot. It is told from dual perspectives: Becca and Dereck. Both have their own secrets and baggage they carry with them. But does their baggage prevent them from ending up together. You will have to read to find out.

I was absolutely engrossed by this story. I loved Becca and Dereck and thought they were both well written. Becca and Dereck's relationship was everything and so worth the slow burn. Did I mention the story is a slow burn? I normally not a fan of a character driven story being a slow burn. But man DOES it work. Not to mention their relationship felt realistic. We as readers are force to ruminate in all the emotions and struggles of of this relationship.

Speaking about emotional damage. Because of Me deals with very heavy and sensitive topics throughout the book. You want to hug both Becca and Dereck, but they appear to move forward, especially in the spice department. You begin to think nothing will go wrong. FALSE. It turns out us readers were lured into a false sense of security. I really cared about Becca and Dereck and thought as characters and readers we were put through enough emotional damage. Do not get me wrong the ending was beautifully done. I just was not expecting that ending.

As mentioned above the story is character driven. There is a lot of dialouge, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. Additonally I cannot stress this enough Because of Me is a very emotional, dark, and heavy read. Please look at content warnings before picking this book up. Again this book isn't for everyone. With that in mind I loved this book and highly recommend it, IF this is your cup of tea. In the mean time I will be impatientally waiting for the sequel.

I think the author was trying to make this story feel mysterious with “who’s Randy?” “Why is she living with Randy?” When all of it was confusing and dragged.
Good luck. Not for me. It would have been a good story, maybe, if the story gave more in the beginning.
You may love it.
DNF for me. It was exhausting.

This book was such a roller-coaster of emotions...but I LOVED every minute of it, every second that Katie's words were able to change what I felt withing a paragraph was amazing. I felt what her characters felt, the happiness, the sadness, the anger, and all the struggles. It was a great read and if I hadn't been sick I would have devoured this in just a few days because when I felt well enough to get some reading done I did not want to put it down, Katie wrote this book in a way that sucked you into the story and the dual POV added so much more depth.

Becca and Dereck were just adorable together and after reading and finding out more about the main characters life I couldn't help but be so happy that she met Dereck and they had each other. I loved them as a couple and I loved them on their own. They both struggled with so many heavy topics like assault, abuse, neglect, addiction, death, and loss [among others] but they made it out stronger in so many ways. In a way that was probably my favorite part of the story, [even though some parts were hard to read] I loved the way Becca was able to start finding her voice and realizing what she was allowing wasn't ok. The chemistry was also SOOO good, not to mention SPICY and that just made this book *chefs kiss*. Katie not only gave you two characters to love but she wrote their friends and family in such a way that made them incredibly relatable and likable - which I really enjoyed.

Definitely recommend! Katies writing was PHENOMINAL and I can't wait until book two comes out! [please check trigger warnings as I did not list all of them in my review.]

Damn, this book is a heavy one. The dark themes of addiction, grief, abuse, neglect, and assault make this book not for the faint of heart. However, this story is a powerful one! The main characters growth was astounding to witness. There was so much utter strength & resilience shown. I truly enjoyed this book, even with the torment my emotions went through. Love is exceptional.
I have to say I was ready to jump right into the continuation of this story but found the book that was supposed to be published in 2023 was never released.

Holy Shiznit!!! This book was freaking amazing!!!
I read this book on kindle unlimited because the advanced reader copy would not send to my email even after the author sent it to me multiple times, but I was determined to read it either way and lucky for me I was able to. I am really glad I gave this book a chance because I absolutely LOVED it!!!
This book is about Becca and Dereck and basically their love story. Becca has had a really crappy up bringing and thinks she doesn't deserve any love. She is still dealing with a crappy mom and is in a crappy situation when she meets Dereck who himself is dealing with the loss of his brother and the guilt that comes along with it.
Becca and Dereck and learning to be with each other and all the walls and baggage that come along with it. Dereck is there for Becca and letting her know that she is worthy of love even if her home life is crappy and her mom is a druggie and Becca is there for Dereck and lets him know that it is not his fault for the death of his brother Logan.
I loved the main characters of this book but also loved the side characters as well. I am really hoping Stephanie and Mitchell get their own book because I would be down to read that story as well! I did add this book to my Amazon Wishlist because I HAVE to have the physical copy of this book so I can go back and read and annotate everything I liked, disliked, loved etc...
I cannot wait for the second book to come out and really bummed I have to wait until the summer of next year!

POV: Dual

I am obsessed with this book! Katie is a literary wizard. I was unprepared to fall so hard for Derek and Becca. Derek is literally top tier book boyfriend. I swear he was cut from the sweetest, sexiest cloth in the world.

Becca grew up with a POS mother and an even worse step parent. She had to endure some of the most horrific things I’ve ever read in a book. She believes because of what she went though she is undeserving of love.

Derek has his own demons he’s fighting while still being the best thing that’s ever happened to Becca.

oh my heart!

I don’t know where to start with this book! I loved it! I saw a video on the silly clock app about this book and had to download it. I’m married to a mechanic (like Dereck!) and I live in TN where the story takes place! I’m so glad I did! The story is well written and captured me from the start. I will say, check your trigger warnings, but definitely download it! I’m hoping for more to come because I have so many questions! Please tell me when find out what happens with Nathan!!

It has multiple POVs (which is done extremely well!)
Slow burn but worth it! Do you ever just find a book where you couldn’t put the book down? I’m pretty sure I neglected my family for the last 2 days. This book was it!! Go read it!

A beautiful masterpiece!

Katie is going places if she continues to write with this kind of passion. This book took me a minute to read because its definitely a roller coaster of emotions. Some scenes are difficult to read so please read trigger warnings. I'm dying to find out what comes next for Becca and Dereck. I have so many questions Katie so hurry up lol. Thank you for this absolute masterpiece of a book.

I really think this book would have been better but it seemed to drag on and on and I lost interest in the characters. I hated how Becca seemed to be a doormat for everyone. I dont see how others find her strong except she is a survivor of abuse. Instead of taking control of her life she let a rapist, a drug addict and a drug dealer control it. I give it a meh. To each their own. I dnf'd at over halfway.

The slow-burn romance of our FMC and MC is soo good in this book. They both are dealing with some pretty rough past and present Trauma in the book. The trauma was relatable. It was amazing to see them come together through the book. There is sadness in this book but I still managed to smile during the happy moments they shared.

This book is a solid 10/10 would recommend. READ IT NOW!!!

Such an amazing read!!

Don’t let the size of BoM fool you! This book has it all! Fantastic plot, plot twists, angst, spice, a cinnamon roll MMC that’s willing to do anything for the grumpy, overly emotional-yet emotionally closed off FMC. It’s 700 pages of amazingness!

Seeing Becca’s growth as she learns to shut out the negative voice in her head, and even to trust Dereck is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I cried so much reading Becca’s history. But I loved every single moment of it! I’m so excited for book two!

after so many disappointing romances i've recently read this was such a refreshing surprise. the characters are fleshed out, they feel real and are so so so good to each other and for each other. definitely check trigger warnings because it doesn't shy away from talking about many hard topics in a very explicit way. however, it was handled well and obviously written with care - the conflict and the drama felt unfortunately real. knowing that the author speaks from personal experience makes certain parts of the book exceptionally hard to get through, especially those last few chapters. everything hurts and i'm not well. maybe i missed things, maybe it wasn't written perfectly but it worked for me. i need the sequel like right now.

Katie kindly chose me to be an ARC reader for this book (I’m so sorry it took me so long!). I honestly struggled keeping people straight in the beginning part of the book and really got invested about halfway through. I understood that it was necessary for such a solid foundation.

This book will punch you in the throat and heart all at once. Those readers that ask for something to devastate them? This will do that. Becca is a strong FMC and you’ll be rooting for her the whole time. The unfolding of the relationship was a little slow for me but again necessary. I had to take breaks with the intensity sometimes, but I’m glad I finished it. I can’t wait for the next one.

Also- there’s a couple of errors but nothing you can’t piece together.

This book was super HEAVY!! One minute it had me in a puddle of tears breaking my heart, then I’m laughing out loud, then smiling like an absolute idiot.

There was a lot of details put into this book as well as the character build up. The story is very realistic and it breaks my heart thinking about all the people who go through this everyday.

Derek is one of my FAVORITE book boyfriends. He’s perfect in every way. The way he loves and cares for Becca is everything. Even after all he’s been though and the pain he’s been dealing with for the past 4 years. He always puts Becca first.

Becca is a survivor. She’s so strong and resilient. My heart broke for her over and over again. After all she’s been through she still was able to open up, trust, and Love again.

If your looking for an emotional book that will absolutely break your heart but also put it back together. This one if for you… it’s was phenomenal. I can’t wait for the next book.

Emotional Damage

This book wrecked me. The vast expanse of emotions it made me feel is ridiculous. At one point my cheeks hurt from smiling, and then later I was sobbing. I still have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this. So make sure you grab tissues and hunker down before you ride on the emotional rollercoaster that is Becca's life. I am going to have the worst book hang over after this, but I can not wait to find out what the next book has in store for Derek.

CHECK TWs this is for everyone!!!

Okay like always I never read TWs or the blurb. This book is totally fucked up with certain events. If you aren't okay with bad events or dark events this isn't for u.

This was such a great book! I loved every minute of it. The story is in fact true to most ppl. But this book also shows u that regardless of wat ur bad thoughts tell u u will be able to fight through it all. You just need to accept some help sometimes even when u don't want to or don't think u deserve it! This story holds a wonder MMC who is understanding and tries his best to make it comfortable for her in any which way possible.

He does the sweetest dates for them to go on. He doesn't make her feel any type of way around his family. He makes sure to include and pushes her doubts away as best as he can.

The role Becca took on at such a young age, the duties she has performed, the life style she has chosen to help Nate out. Is just amazing!! She is so selfless. That boy deserves Becca so much!! That lil boy is resilient and strong just like her.

I really hated how Becca kept bending backwards for her mother. It was so annoying I get why she was doin it tho. But it was so crippling to her. I hated way she had to do to even get Nate. This fuckin bitch didn't even care about him or anyone else. Just sign the shit over and let her have it. It wasn't doin anyone any good. The fact that she blames her daughter for the shit of the men in her life was utter bullshit. Becca took hit after hit and it was not fair at all for her. Then to top that shit off the ending of the book with her mother. Ugh it just enrages me to no avail!! Like how how can u do that shit to ur daughter. Fuck ur addiction, even when u were gettin clean u were still a bitch and couldn't be a parent. Goin down memory lane doesn't get u anything. U want to be loved or want her to truly be there for u to help then be a parent not the child!

The ending of the book I was expecting far worse then wat I got. I am happy with how it ended and she didn't shut him out completely but leaned on him. She knew he was the one person who she could count on. She didn't shy away. That is the greatest thing in this book. The fact that she finally allowed herself a reprieve, a safe space and someone who she loved. He did all the right things. He truly gave her all the tools she needed to see who she was and get to know herself and love it.

This is a dark romance read and shouldn't be taken lightly. Please read the warnings.

Thank you Katie for a wonderful read. I enjoyed it so much!

Please check trigger warnings before reading!

I have not read a book that gave me this much heartache since A Child Called It. It is exceptionally written and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This will be a book a will remember and will hold a special place in my heart. Because, Because of Me is such a dark emotional read, it may not be for everyone, but if you think it's for you, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it.

Because of Me is written in a dual perspective following the two main characters, Becca and Derek. Becca, aka BG, is one of the toughest, most amazing FMC I've read. She has gone through way more than her fair share of trauma. At only 21 she has built so many walls that it's hard for her to trust anyone and let them in. Derek sadly lost his brother in a tragic car accident that he blames himself for. He took that guilt to the point where he turned to alcohol for an escape. Now he's finally in an okay space, where he's coming up on one year of sobriety.

Derek comes to visit his sister at work, and this is where he meets Becca. He is instantly drawn to her and comes back every time she is working to talk to her. Now it's months later and he finally worked up the courage to ask her out. She's not ready to date but she agrees to go on a date not date like friends. Derek instantly swoons her, in the sweetest way. This is where their love story blooms with plenty of unexpected obstacles that no one saw coming. But even during these struggles they start to heal each other and learn that what happened to them wasn't their fault.

Your heart breaks for these characters and all you want is for them to get their HEA. Again, please check trigger warnings because Katie does touch some very dark topics that is not easy to read. I will somehow be patiently waiting for the next book. I'm still not over that cliffhanger of an ending and I waited days to write this review to gather my thoughts.

I took this Trigger Warning right from this books Amazon description:

"Trigger Warning: This book is intended for a mature audience. Some may find the contents triggering. If things such as violence, strong language, drug abuse, sexual content, sexual assault, and rape bother you, this novel may not be for you."

This book grips right ahold of you and won't spite you back out again till the end, which end on a cliffhanger fyi. I had so many feels through out this book, I was sad, happy, disgusted, proud and at times wanted to throw this book across the room. But isn't that what a good book should make you want to do?

This story of Becca is heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time. The life she endured just to try to have some semblance of normalcy but just keeps getting knocked down again and again. She had a light at the end of her broken and shattered life and she'd fight for the light with everything she has then some.

Dereck appears to be a knight in shining armor but he had his own trauma he's trying to fight against when he meets BG just trying to win the smile she's buried under a second layer of protection. He's not looking for trouble but when has falling in love ever let you travel the easy road? He will do anything and everything to prove to Becca he's with trusting and letting her walks crumble for one in her life.

Their story will bring tears to your eyes from all they've endured to how happy and sweet they really are together. The little moments that seep into your heart, the burdens others dig up and realizing you may have more people in your corner then you ever thought was possible.

This is a debut novel by Katie Pearson. It is a slow burn romance and told from dual POV.

The blurb does not, in any way prepare you for the rollercoaster ride, this book takes you on.

I went into this book knowing (sort of) what I was getting into. I was going into the story itself blind (did not read any previous reviews). However, I only started reading books with trigger warnings a few months ago, so I made sure I read all of them before starting it. Please read these!!!!

There is a lot of trauma in this book, both past and present for both the MMC and FMC.

Becca has to put up with her mother, who is a drug addict, her ex-stepfather and her mother's drug dealer all making different demands on her. She wants to leave but doesn’t/can't because of her baby brother Nathan.

Derrick was in a car accident. He feels like he was responsible for killing his brother and starts drinking to try and escape how he feels.

Becca's doesn’t expect anything from life, with how much of a mess her life is, but Derrick talks her into giving him a chance.

Becca and Derrick are beautifully written and they have an amazing support group of friends and family.

You can’t help falling in love with these characters while reading about them falling in love with each other and helping each other deal with their baggage.

This does end on a slight cliff-hanger, however I know there is a second book Because of You. I’m really looking forward to this and getting some answers to things left unanswered.

*please check the trigger warnings before reading this book.

Katie Pearson writes a beautiful and heartbreaking story all in one.

All of Becca’s life has been a fight against abuse, a fight to stay whole and unbroken now she is fighting for full custody of her son and she’ll do anything to get him back, safe and sound in her arms. She’ll also do anything to prove to Dereck that she isn’t some trailer park trash who’s broken beyond repair and is worthy of love despite being scared to fall. Little does she know that Dereck doesn’t think that, she’s beautiful and strong in his eyes and all he wants is to prove he’s worthy of her love, he wants to prove to her that she is safe with him.

My heart broke reading Becca’s story, her past is so dark and twisted and nobody should have to go through that, and some of it at the hands of her own Mother, it makes you sick to your stomach. But Becca is so unbelievably strong, she is a true fighter and despite everything she’s still a sweet and loving person.

Dereck, I fell in love with him straight away, he only cares to support Becca, her past doesn’t define her but he’s happy to take it slow and at her pace. He makes some of her dreams come true and will do anything to make her blush or smile. He is the sweetest, especially with little Nate.

I loved Becca and Dereck’s story and I can’t wait to watch it blossom more.

I saw several videos on tiktok about Because of Me and it sounded like a pretty good read so I grabbed it on KU and started reading. To say that it pulls HARD at your emotions is an understatement. I am a reader who normally doesn’t get bothered by any triggers so I read books with heavy topics and don't cry but Because of Me made me cry many times because of what Becca went through. I would recommend reading the triggers and taking caution while reading. This book hit me hard as it brought up my own unwanted memories, but I needed to finish so I can know how the story ends. It was an extremely emotional rollercoaster for me to put it mildy. Katie put me through the wringer, but in the best possible way because I needed the release of crying my eyes out when I didn't even realize it.

Dereck is my #1 cinnamon roll boyfriend as he is exactly what Becca needed and what survivors need in their life. He is extremely patient with Becca and there for her even when she is not making the smartest decisions. How Katie wrote the scene when Becca was ready for the next stage in their relationship was extremely beautiful.

It ends on a cliffhanger in a way and I am looking forward to the Because of You so Becca can get her HEA and Randy/Rebecca get what's coming to them.

becca, who’s hiding her feelings because she think’s she not worthy of love, agrees to go on a date with dereck, who will try his hardest to bring down her walls and prove to her otherwise, embark on their relationship even though being together comes with a heartbreaking cost..

the emotions i went through while reading this book.. one minute i was smiling with all the cute moments these two were having, then the next i wanted to strangle a few side characters.. it was a never ending rollercoaster of emotions until the very end!

i don’t want to say much, but go read this book if you’re looking for an emotional book with two characters who will do anything for their family. it deals with heavy topics, so please look up trigger warnings before reading!

i need book 2 immediately, all i want is for becca and dereck to get their hea 🥹

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.✨

A girl from the wrong side of the tracks. A boy who seemingly has it all. Worlds collide in this amazing debut of a novel. This book utterly consumed me!! But it was so tough to read at times. The traumas both of the main characters went through had me in my serious feels! 😩

Becka was such a tough and resilient FMC. I don’t know how she was able to handle everything she had to endure. I would’ve cracked for sure. But she preserved through all the crap life threw at her and came out stronger. She was also so incredibly loving and forgiving. My heart felt for her so much.

Dereck…. Sigh. He was so perfect. The way he was he always there for her when she needed him. Who doesn’t want a man that would do anything to protect you? He was goofy and just so loveable. But there was also a deep pain underneath that exterior that had my heart aching. The love he had for Becka was just all consuming and he wasn’t afraid to show it to everyone. I mean he says things like this…

“𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵. 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘐 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐’𝘮 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘐’𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺.”

That’s all I’ll say cause this is one you should go into blind and just enjoy the emotional journey of two soul mates. But maybe check the trigger warnings first cause there are definitely some heavy topics. Loved this book!! Can’t wait for this story to continue! 😍

When I came across one of Katie's tik toks about this book. I cannot tell you how fast I ran to my kindle to read it. I normally only read smut or Reverse harems. That's just my thing. But this book made me feel so many emotions. I love how it was written. The story line was exceptional as well. Reading about the struggles of every day life for someone dealing with people that are dealing with addiction in Becca's life was eye opening. The love interest she finds with Dereck was my absolute favorite part. She needs him as much as he needs her. Him dealing with addiction himself, losing someone so close to him, to find that light in himself that Becca brings out. Becca, she has gone through so much in her life. Always thinking about every one else, and what they need. I think finding Dereck for her helped bring out the Becca shes been hiding for a long time. I loved reading it. I don't think I've cried over how a book ended like this one in a long time. I cannot wait until the 2nd book comes out to see how the story continues. I definitely recommend this book. Just make sure to check the trigger warnings because this book definitely has some.
