The first two decades of the 21st century brought more change than any other period in history. The rise of digital technology dominated this transformation. The Tech Giants created compelling and seductive new social environments in the form of online communities. Adding to the disorder was the unexpected mayhem of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Great Recession, the 9/11 attacks, and many natural disasters.

Almost without our knowing, twenty years flew past. We were committed to the daily grind while attempting to drink from the firehose of change. Over 95 million U.S. adults ages 55 and older are confronting another significant aging through the once romanticized “Golden Years.”

The pace of change, already incredible, will accelerate over the next twenty years. The things that once grounded us have given way, replaced not by better footing but by more uncertainty. No part of the population can ignore it. It will require adaptability from all, especially seniors for whom flexing with the times becomes more challenging.

The Change Factor explores the facts, meaning, and consequences of some of the significant bigger picture factors driving the changes around us. This exploration is an invitation to better understand some of the major influences in our daily lives that affect our lifestyles and our choices. Population growth, longer life expectancies, technological innovation, the rapid rate-of-change, and the degrading ecological environment, are among them.

We must no longer accept the lie that declining relevance due to aging is inevitable. Untethered Aging – Successful Aging in the New Normal explores how seniors can find value in longer lives, lived better, and how to effectively deal with the perpetual challenges of financial sufficiency and physical well-being. It provides a roadmap for reaching psychological freedom through creating the rest of your life.
