Song of Shadow and Light

“We all break our rules for someone…”

Emelia, a seemingly human girl just at the peak of twenty was content with living her human life, despite the Mythika parents and friends she had around her. Emelia enjoyed the bliss that her hospital job brought her and even appreciated the occasional days her friends dragged her to the endless parties in Eros. She hadn’t realized that it all would change with a prick of her finger at the bloodline ceremony or that she would have a goddess talking to her in her head.

After finding out that everything in her life had been a lie, a series of attacks lay out in Eros, directed towards the royal families. With her new found responsibility, Emelia seeks out to investigate and find out who is behind these attacks with the help of Kaius Demontae and her other close comrades.
When Emelia gets close to uncovering the truth, she is wrapped into more confusion and lies.

Emelia discovers herself, her mind, her body, and her power. Her strength grows and the weight of the world seems to press heavier on her shoulders. With the changes in her life, and the constant stream of deception, Emelia decides to take control of her own destiny.

This book is so easy to binge on. I could not put it down. I’m so thankful I got a chance to be an ARC reader. I can’t wait for this to hit the shelves so everyone can pick it up!
Woods blended all aspects of the urban fantasy and paranormal romance beautifully! I also loved the concepts of Greek mythology that were portrayed in the book. The main female character grows and develops as the book progresses and the development of her character is magnificent. I love the angst, the desire, the friendship, the family, and the internal strength that is portrayed by Woods in this book.
I can not wait for the next book!!

Wow. I'm still reeling. This is an amazing start to a new series. If you love Cresent City, Greek Mythology and mortal instruments series, then this is for you.

The author does an amazing job with the world and character building. She gives you a list and description in the beginning of the book to help set up the type of characters you'll meet. Some things in the book I was able to predict, but let me tell you, she threw so many twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat and could not put it down.

I can support and cheer on the strong female MC and the crew she surrounds herself with. I loved the steamy/spicy scenes along with the heartfelt scenes in this novel. Team Kai 100% from me.

Happy reading!!

I had the absolute pleasure to be an ARC reader for this book and I loved it!
This book was definitely a 5 star read for me! The first thing I loved about this book is how fast we get thrown into the story, you don’t have to read 5 chapters of world building and character descriptions we are told these things as the story progresses which I loved!
The world building was incredible! Kylie did an amazing job of creating such a magical world. I did get confused sometimes when they were talking about places in the world but that’s on me because I’m always confused when it comes to places and I have to check the map 300 times!
The characters were amazing! Emelia is such a badass and I love her development throughout the book! Also can we talk about the TENSION! I loved the romantic tension its one of those books that’s has you screaming at the characters to just kiss already!
And the magic system? So so so well done I loved the way magic was described and used throughout the story!
This book is diverse with LGBTQ+, POC which I absolutely adored as it added dimension to the characters and story!
I was absolutely hooked from the very start and this book was a roller coaster but the best kind!
I would HIGHLY recommend this book and suggest you go preorder it right now!!

Wow. Seriously wow. This was my first ever ARC opportunity and I’m honestly not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad because this was so amazing that all the rest may just be a let down from here on out. This was an absolutely wonderful fantasy romance that has so many elements that make me swoon.

This book was incredibly fast paced in such a great way, world building is so important but can get slow or sometimes downright boring and Woods somehow moves the world building along in a fast paced way that still manages to be detailed and thorough. This book reminded me of everything I love about Crescent City (but more fast paced) mixed with These Hollow Vows and Cinder along with a generous helping of Greek Mythology (Hercules movie vibes honestly). The more I think about it I get MAJOR Cinder vibes which is one of my favorite Sci-fi/Fantasy series.

A strong female lead trying to figure out who she really is and where she belongs in the world is a journey I can always get behind. Add in the drama and betrayal, the fated mates trope and romance. And did I mention spice?! There is Spice!! I also really admire the unconventional family representation throughout the book as well.

I can not recommend this book enough and I will be eagerly awaiting what comes next.

Move over fantasy writers, theres a new Queen in town and she is bringing the heat with this debut novel. Holy crappers! I had no idea what i was getting into when i agreed to ARC read- AND I AM SO GLAD FOR IT!!! This fantasy world has some of the best world building i have read this year, the FMC is strong, independent, beautifully built ( like real women) and has an opinion for everything. ( she is never wrong either) I love her! Lets talk the multiple love interests too, ( brothers, maybe ) One good one bad and you wont know who is who. BUT I AM HERE FOR IT! We have Gods & Goddess involved and they are messing with the lives of others hard core. AGAIN I am here for it! The plot is thick- and it will keep you guessing. AND THERES SPICE TOO, did I tell you that? UGh I dont want to wait for the next one. I know I will be blown out of the water again. Highly recommend and is definitely on my favorites list for the year!

Let me first start by saying that K.M. Woods had written a fantastic book. I had originally gotten a physical copy a couple years back, and through some reading slumps never got through it. Recently I decided to read it fully, and let me say, wow. From the characters to the world building, it is very obvious that this story is a passion project, and a fantastic one at that. I am excited to see how the story develops in book two and I can’t wait to see what else K.M. Woods will write in the future.

I would recommend this book to those who love fantasy with modern aspects mixed with Greek mythology.

This book was fantastic!! It contains one of the absolute best non romantic soul bonds I have ever read!! This book contains fated mates, found family, a badass FMC and of course, loveable side characters! Fans of Greek mythology will eat this one up!I devoured the second half of this book in a matter of hours! Fans of Sarah J Maas, Scarlett St. Clair, and other prominent romantasy authors will adore this book! Can’t wait to finish book two!!

I loved this book! The story and the characters were so enticing. I could so easily see the world come alive in my head and to see the setting so vividly described was amazing. The characters and the growth through out the story were so so so good, I can’t wait for the next to see where this world leads them!!!

I binge read this when it was first released and I am obsessed with the main characters and their development throughout the book. This book has all of the aspects I love. Strong female characters, obsessed lovers, fantasy. It’s just perfect. I have read this book twice and I feel like this book could be one I read over and over again and not get tired of.

Such a good book! Has a great plot w/ romance subplot (but doesn’t overwhelm the book). I bought the next one immediately after finishing… scared to start since the third isn’t out. Definitely one of those books that will get you out of a reading slump. Cannot wait to recommend this to others.

I am still speechless after that ending and epilogue but one word to sum this book up is WOW! I instantly fell in love with the characters and world that K.M. has built. Emelia is an utter badass! Watching her grow and fully embrace who she is and everything that is thrown her way was beautiful to watch.

The found family aspect of this book truly warmed my heart as it reminded me of my own found family especially with the line "The point is, sometimes the family you choose is the best one"

K.M. is an absolute genius when it comes to putting pieces together to create the whole picture. I can't count the number of times I was blown away with the hints left along the way that crescendo to an epic ending and epic epilogue. I can't wait to do a re-read to see what other little hints I can incorporate into my theories for book 2!

10/10 recommend!

I had the amazing opportunity to be a beta reader for SOSAL. My personal taste is paranormal romance and spice. This book hit two of the three of my preferences. The author did an amazing job of world and character building. It is very easy to fall in love with the characters. I’ve been in a little bit of a reading slump and this book helped me get out of it. I loved the different worlds the author introduced in this book along with how the different species interact with each other (the birth and then the ceremony). There is lots of twists and turns. I have read lots of paranormal romance and adventure and I was in for a few surprises. 5/5 ⭐️ 2/5 🌶
