What do you do when your husband of so many years does not ever remember meeting you, falling in love with you, marrying you, and planning a family with you?
I love this book, I love this book!! I have never fallen in love with a female character as I did with Karissa. This woman understands the meaning of unconditional love. Karissa understood the assignment. She understands what it means to stay with someone through thick and thin.

This had the potential of being a really beautiful & emotional book but it just fell short in so many ways. The authors insistence on telling us about their relationship before the accident rather than showing us their relationship really bugged me. One thing about me is I hate a book that tells instead of shows. And this carries on throughout the book.
I also felt like the female lead really didnt fight for their relationship when he first had his accident and lost his memories. So okay they get a divorce. Then when they finally meet up again a few years later & he’s ready to give them a try she wants to play this back and forth running away game. Its exhausting.

I have no doubt that the relationship they had before the book started was really beautiful, I felt it through her memories and her pain during their divorce. The first thing I thought once he woke up was omg he is a selfish dick and he was still a selfish dick two years later. And poor her was the weakest softest person to everything related to him, it was kinda sad and annoying because he wasn’t nice to her not until he realizes he wants her two years later. I felt like they had a business relationship not a romantic one, once they got together again everything in the story was drier including the epilogue.

Those missing years were hell.
Karissa was mad as he'll when she realized that Nicco, her husband, lost six years of his life to retrograde amnesia. He did not remember her at all, and he had the nerve to ask her for an annulment as if their marriage did not exist. She had a hard time accepting the fact that the man she loved more than anything did not remember her. Over the course of his recovery and trying to live his life and move on after their divorce, he found himself understanding why he'd married Karissa. Their many talks of his trying to understand them as a couple slowly developed into lovers. Karissa was very hesitant as she didn't want another heartbreak. But when he realized that Karissa had moved on too, with her arrangement, he found himself actively courting her.
Nicco, reading his deceased father's journal, he knew he'd been given the gift of a second chance with the woman he loved. He may not remember the past six years, but he was determined to never disappoint or hurt Karissa again. To Karissa, he was a much better man. She loved this new Nicco and was willing to make a go of their relationship and make new memories.
This is my first time reading this author's work. I enjoyed the plot, and I felt empathy for what Nicco was going through. I see why this book made Facebook's BWSL's 2022 list.

Such an amazing book!! Niccoyan Zheng's writing is awesome!! This book was gripping, mesmerizing, deep, a heartfelt second chance at love story.
This story was absolutely thrilling to read. The author, Niccoyan Zheng, put her all into this book. Nicco and Karissa's story was so gripping and so emotional I had to take a breath a few times. Their love story had so many highs and lows, good times and bad times. From a horrific event that shattered the love and the lives of this couple the author took you on a journey of loss, anger, acceptance. Just like the steps of grieving. And in time the couple found their way back to each other. One line from the book says it all. 'What is meant to be, always finds a way'. I loved how Niccoyan Zheng talked about Toronto and Montreal Canada. The attention to detail made me feel like I was right there with Karissa and Nicco. This book is DEFINITELY a must read! Niccoyan Zheng is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The love, drama, the angst and rebuilding of a broken union between these two people was such a pleasure to read and witness. I loved the term "The lost years" they came up with. It was beautiful and spoke of makes memories forgotten.

Second time around😍💞😍
I loved Karissa and Nicco, against all odd they get a second chance at love and it turns out it’s better than the first time❤️❤️❤️.
I loved the concept of this story. The saying “If you love someone set them free and if they return it’s meant to be” describes their relationship but with much more depth. Nicco’s unfortunate accident leaves him with a retrograde memory loss in the one area of his life that Karissa mattered most😔. The love Karissa has for him is unlike any other, and although she wanted to fight for their relationship Nicco’s disregard of her left no choice but to end their marriage🥲. I was really pissed at Nicco for how he'd treated Karissa, talk about ghosting someone right in front of you like damn😤. I mean I get that he didn’t remember her but he could have dealt with it better🤪😑. When Nicco finally comes around asking about their past to help get his memory back Karissa obliges even while she is still mending a broken heart❤️🩹. I understood the turmoil Karissa was going through spending time with Nicco reliving memories of their past. When she finally comes to term and realize the remarkable gift of a second chance everything shifts for her😊. The one area that didn’t seem to have much issues is their physical attraction and the way they loved on each other is hot as hell🥵🔥🥵.
I loved the friends that were their supporting both Nicco and Karissa. Aaron, Maksim and Stephanie are all great friends and I'm looking forward to reading about them. This is another great book by Ms. Zhang. If you love relatable characters, strong storyline that emotionally tug on your heartstrings and are happy when love prevails this book is for you, you won’t regret it💕💕💕.

I should've known good and goddamn well when I realize it was a second chance romance I was going to be mad. Especially since I've been reading books from this particular author who never not have me in my feels.
Nico is a CEO of his families company and Married to Karissa who has a Phd and her own wealth. They have the perfect relationship and marriage until Nicco doesn't have the memories of the last five years after a tragic incident. And now the only people in the marriage is the ghost of the man Kariisa was married to and herself. Man oh man this was so good and frustrating all at the same time. Nicco could've gotten these hands through half of this book I swear. And the tables turned then I wanted to throw hands at Karissa because they both made me want to scream. This book was so damn good and even though this was a frustrating emotional story these characters worked hard for the HEA. The emotional damage in this book ...plus I love how the author connected Azul and Amber story from consumed in the mix. I'm ready for Book 2 in the Elite Series.

Niccoyan delivered another great read. From the start this story pulled us into our emotions following the characters trials and tribulations. The ups and downs both Karissa and Nicco went through really made you feel for them from both perspectives. The strength of both Karissa and Nicco, was really great to experience. It was great seeing Aaron again and seeing more of him from a different point of view. I really liked Maksim, he’s a whole other character in itself with all his ways, both him and Aaron are a riot😂🤣. I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing what happens next with Maksim and Stephanie and Aaron and Sherbrooke. It was great seeing Amber and Azul again. Highly recommend this story!!!

Tragic events changed the course of the future for Nicco and Karissa Carisi. This is the story of their second chance. From the outside, the couple seem to have an amazing life and even greater love story but everything is not as it seems. As the story unfolds, the reader is able to experience Nicco as a husband, friend and son before & after tragedy. Nicco learns how to love Karissa for who she is as a person and not as an extension of him. Karissa learns she is worthy of being loved & cherished. The additional characters provided support to Nicco and Karissa as they learn to cope with life's unexpected challenges. I am looking forward to Maksim and Aaron's story. The love of Nicco and Karissa Carisi was a phoenix rising from the ashes of tragedy. I would recommend this story.

This story and characters intrigued me from the moment I opened it up. I was captivated and waited to see how the relationship between Karissa and Nico would developed. Karissa was a sweetheart and very forgiving. This is my second book by this author and she’s becoming a fave! This story was very well written, had a captivating storyline and very well developed characters. Nico and Karissa chemistry was off the charts but it was their emotional connection to each other that did it for me. I love happy endings, I mean why else would you read a romance book if not for the love, romance, sex, sometimes intrigue, storyline and the happily ever after ending?! Awesome read! Would highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed this story Line! It was a romance and one of true love and The friendship of characters in the story! so looking forward to the series, because I am trying to see if by some miracle Kiddo gets his memory back! I was at first hoping Karissa would move on with her life after the accident and Kiddo was a cocky rich man and wanted out of the marriage, because he thought she married him for his money! But of course Karrisa had her own money, and very independent and smart as hell! But I eventually wanted them back together! Suspense also and now waiting to read the second book in the series! This book will keep you reading and hate to put the book down! You will definitely not be disappointed!

Good Book
This is my first time reading anything from this author. The synopsis drew me in however, purchased this book solely based on the reviews. While I understand how hard it for someone to lose their memory I do not understand not wanted to retrieve ALL that was lost. That is the only question for me that was not answered from Nicco….Why? Karissa was strong and did what was best for her heartache although I disagree with her decision with the penthouse.
This book was engaging and well written. It had you thinking…what if? Not everyone reacts to a traumatic experience the same way or how you would expect them too. If it is meant to be then it will come full circle. Well done Ms. Zheng.

Okay!!
Its a little wordy and overly sappy at times, but its a great tale of two people torn apart but graced with a second chance to battle back to each other. That breakup was the best thing that could have happened for Nicco & Karissa. They wound up with something way better. A clearer understanding of themselves & each other. Karissa learned that some compromises aren't meant to be made; especially when it comes to ones true self and thoughts. Nicco had to shed his arrogance and tendency to take those around him for granted. One can't help but root for them because sometimes fate needs to find its way without us getting in its way.
This is a first for me with this author. A very pleasant surprise.👏

Wow what can I say about Retrograde.
It was such a great ride!!
First off I love Montreal and Toronto so it was wonderful traveling in between both cities.
I had some serious issues with Nicco at first but as I got to know him and his motivations he made my BBB (best book boyfriend) list.
Karissa was someone that I found it easy to relate to. I will always be in her corner. When she was hurt, so was I, when she found happiness my heart soared for her.
This book can be read as a standalone book but it will be part of a larger series. I can’t wait for for Aaron’s book.
I am looking forward to where the Niccoyan Zheng and the Elite series will take me next.

I loved this book! Nicco and Karissa had me in my feelings from the first page. Their journey wasn't conventional, but it had it's own type of beauty. Nicco started out making me wanna have choice words with him, but he won me over. With his fine self! Let's just say he was no slouch in the bedroom. Outside of it, the way he loved Karissa... 😍😍
I related so much to Karissa. I was present for every moment of her healing journey.
The side characters made me want to know their stories as well. I can't wait for the next book!

This book was so good! There was just the right balance of suspense and spice. I look forward to reading the next book by this author!

Nicco and Karissa’s love story, second chance story was beautiful. My heart broke for Karissa as her world fell apart. I was a dry on her behalf and wanted her to lash out more at him. Hurt him they way he hurt her. I felt the reconciliation that created a bond deeper the second time around. Beautifully written. Proper grammar, sentence structure, and consistency. Worth mentioning due to the lack of those things in other BWWM books.

I really tried to like this book but it was so dry. It’s a story of a man who loses his memory in a car accident, divorces his wife and then two years later wants her back. The heroine is really strong and unemotional in the beginning of the book so her character two years later being so open to starting again with her husband makes no sense. I didn’t understand why the husband wanted to try again it seemed like they were both happily living their lives separately. There’s not much background to this story so you don’t know much about their relationship prior to the accident and what you learn doesn’t make it seem like he was that great of a partner or husband. Then the epilogue doesn’t explain if her ever got his memories back. This was a 3 1/2 star read for me.

A great read. And a great couple. The unthinkable happens to Karissa and Nicco where they find themselves in a position to fall in love all over again. Nicco remembers nothing of Karissa and at first disregards her. Oh the emotions this book evoked! I specifically loved Karissa. She was such an elegant woman who truly loved him unconditionally and was willing to do whatever for him. It was such an engaging read too.

TW Stalking.
I was not a fan of this book at all. I found to be very creepy. Karrisa is married to Nicco a successful CEO. When he is in a car crash he loses his memory of his life with Karrisa. Will they eventually fall back in love or will he forgot about their life altogether? I didn't like how Nicco couldn't accept no at all. He stalked her multiple times throughout this book. He had sexual dreams about her and acted on those dreams instead of feelings. I just didn't enjoy it personally. 3 out of 5 stars.

Beautiful story, tear jerker and a must read. I loved the characters. I loved Karissa character and how strong she was with everything that was going on. At times I didn't like Nicco at all because of the way he treated Karissa. I loved the story. I recommend you read this book.

Retrograde: Forget Me Not by Niccoyan Zheng is the first book in her new series, Elite; however, we get to briefly catch up with characters from Consumed as the two books overlap slightly and the action and characters will continue to overlap into the next book as well, Emulsify. Against all odds and even her own inclinations, Karissa has met and married the love of her life, Nicco Carisi; she is fulfilled and totally happy. Her world and her happiness are completely shattered when Nicco is grievously injured. As he begins to heal it is obvious that Nicco is not the same man he was before; a portion of his memory is wiped out along with the memories of meeting and marrying Karissa. Ms. Zheng does not spare us as we are given a front row seat to the pain that Karissa feels and the confusion that plagues Nicco as he awakens to a world he does not recognize. This compelling and heart wrenching story is not neatly wrapped up in the end but has a realistic and satisfying solution. I really enjoyed this emotionally charged yet gritty and entertaining story!
