Murder All the Way #2

Twitch Upon a Star: A Christmas Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
Oh Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches, and…a dead body?

Chloe was basking in the glow of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and the satisfaction of solving the murder of Santa. Her thoughts turned to the arrival of her sisters the following day and getting on with the purpose of this family trip. However, the gift someone left under the tree was worse than a bag of coal.

Another murder mystery in the midst of this Bavarian-style village threatened to throw the entire small-town into mayhem. No sooner had her sisters arrived, than one of them threatened to leave, blowing up the entire family business plan. Playing the tourist, and shopping for answers, Chloe quickly generates a list of several suspects, topped by the star-studded mayor herself.

Can Chloe and her savvy spaniel sleuth out this mystery? Or will they be forced to forgo the family legacy?

Twitch Upon a Star is the heartwarming second book in the Murder All the Way Christmas cozy mystery series. If you like colorful characters, pensive pooches, and tinsel-covered fun, then you’ll love Sue Hollowell’s holiday whodunit.

Sue Hollowell is a wife and empty nester with a lot of mom left over. Finding a lot of time on her hands, and as a lover of mystery novels, she began telling the story of a character who appeared in her head.

The Chemical Bond is a book about Meredith Markette, a young woman who reluctantly enters into the field of law enforcement when her police officer father is killed in the line of duty. Her quest is to discover his murderer and in the meantime come to terms with a tragedy of her youth.

Will this book ever see the light of day? Maybe. Sue really likes the story and character. And writing that book taught her a ton about the publishing industry. Through this experience she has discovered a love of writing stories, and especially mysteries. She hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoys writing them.

She and her husband are on the search to adopt a dog, really missing her spaniels that passed a couple of years ago.

I really enjoyed this book. Chloe's mother and Maude are hoots! I want to be just like them when I am in my eighties. This book was the best of the two books in this series so far. I like how the who-dun-it was wrapped up by the end of the book. BTW, I didn't guess who the murderer was, can you? Read this book to find out.

I was given an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntarily honest review.

Fresh on the heels of solving the murder in the first book, Chloe and Max find another person murdered so once again they along with Mabel and Maude find themselves with another mystery to solve. But things get complicated when Chloe, Mabel and Max return from that crime scene to their hotel room only to discover that someone has taken the gnomes Mabel had packed in a small suitcase. To add to this mix Chloe’s two sisters, Joey and Zoe have arrived so the clock is ticking on whether or not the mysteries can be solved while her sisters are here and before their brother arrives in a couple of days.

I liked this book! It has an abundance of suspects who could have done the deed so the only question is which one did it!

I recommend this book to all those who love cozy mysteries! The read isn’t a long one- you’ll find you
can finish it in a day. I’m looking forward to the next book because I have a feeling someone else is going to turn up dead and our sleuths will once again find themselves with a mystery to solve as well as entertaining Chloe’s sisters but also her brother as well!

Join the fun as Mabel and Maude prove just because you’re a senior citizen, you can still figure out murders and put the evil doers behind bars!

The second book in the Murder All the Way series keeps you totally entertained, loving the characters, especially Chloe and her clever spaniel Max! All Chloe wants to do is enjoy the town's tree lighting ceremony with Max at her side while waiting for her sisters to come to town so they can continue to plan for their new family venture. However, it was not to be. Max gets away and runs to the Christmas tree where he finds one of Chloe's mother's gnomes and the dead body of a promising young snowboarder. Chloe's mother, Mabel, and her new BFF, Maude talked about opening a PI business and so they set out to help solve the murder. And why are Mabel's gnomes missing? And what will happen when Chloe's sisters come to town. Can Chloe, Mabel and Maude along with the very clever and smart Max find a murderer. This is a fantastic series so far and I can't wait for more! The characters are so well developed and are real. I love the feisty seniors and the closeness of Chloe and her family. This series will have you turning pages and reading in one sitting and smiling, chuckling and trying to wade through the twists and turns with our sleuths! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

The story continues as Chloe, Mabel and Max are waiting for the rest of the family to join them in Hollywerth. After glowing from solving the murder of Santa, they decide to attend the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. However, during the ceremony, Max gets away and heads for the tree. Unbeknownst to Chloe, Max comes across a gnome and a dead body. Chloe can’t believe this is happening again. So, while Mabel and her new friend, Maude become gumshoes, plan a new business venture, and retrieve gnomes from around town, they are in an adventure of a life time. Following them as they traverse the adventure and identify the murderer.

What a delightful read! There are heart-felt moments between Chloe and Mabel showing a close-knit family and friendly characters who support each other. Max is a hoot! The plot and characters were well-written, making you were friends. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you completely engaged. I highly recommend the series.

As the second part of their family reunion got underway, Max sniffed out another dead body which had Mabel and Maude teaming up again to crack the case. I think I've lost track of how many new ventures Mabel wanted to open, but I know a detective agency was one of them. That'd be a hoot and something I'd love to see happen. Maybe the author's thinking of a spin-off from Treehouse? Guess we'll find out eventually lol.

Chloe was investigating mainly to keep her mom safe while juggling entertaining her sisters who'd shown up for the reunion and to discuss the new family business. Zoe definitely didn't hit me as someone you could sleuth with. She's a bit like me and probably preferred reading about sleuthing lol. With everyone helping Thomas on the case, and Max being especially helpful in the takedown, they got their killer. There's one more book coming in this trilogy, but this one ended on a calmer note with no one finding another body...yet. Can't wait to be able to grab the next one on KU!

Chloe wants to enjoy the lighting of the Christmas tree with her dog, Max. That's not an unreasonable expectation. Unfortunately she's not going to get her wish! What she and Max find is a murder victim stabbed with an expensive Holliday ornament. I enjoyed Twitch Upon A Star. This book is a fast paced read filled with mystery. I loved the characters especially Mabel and Maude. They are senior citizens but they haven't slowed down. They are so full of life and have such great plans. They keep everyone on their toes. I can't forget Max. He's a super sleuth. No criminal can escape this wonder dog. . Poor Chloe. She has her hands full. The festive setting is a great backdrop for murder. Sue Hollowell wrote an enjoyable Christmas cozy. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Who knows what will happen next.

It’s time for the tree lighting in Hollywerth. Chloe, her mom Mabel & Max her dog, have come here to get some ideas for the Treehouse Hotel which they run. Chloe has big ideas to turn their hotel into a conference center along with other amenities to bring in more visitors. At the tree lighting, Chloe & Max find a new body behind a tree. Chloe, Mabel, Max & Mabel’s new friend Maude start to investigate. Back at their hotel rooms they discover there’s been a theft which upsets Mabel. Chloe’s sisters arrive which she hopes will sidetrack their mother. At breakfast in the diner Chloe lets her sisters in on the plan her mom & her have come up with to make Cedarbrook, along with the Treetop Hotel a must visit location for visitors to come to. As suspects grow Chloe’s quest gets harder. While on a walk Max takes off & when they get to the snowshoe rental Chloe realizes who the killer is.

Not your average holiday

Picking up at the tree lighting after the murderer has been apprehended. During the ceremony Max takes off and Chloe rushes after trying to quietly rein him in. He finds two things another gnome and a body. A young snowboarder with connections to the married mayor, the town’s ornament designer/seller and a man with some shady dealings going on. Mabel her new bff Maude and a somewhat reluctant Chloe are on the case to find the responsible party. At the same time also trying to get some quality family time with Chloe’s sisters Zoe and Joey.n
A quick whimsical mystery with a backdrop of a Christmas vacation destination town. In such a small place it’s hard to believe so much bad could happen in such a short amount of time. Enjoyable mystery and perfect setting for the season.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

This is the second book in the Murder All the Way series. Chloe and her mom are having quite an adventure in Hollywerth, a Bavarian village, where they are meeting family to discuss their upcoming restaurant venture. Mom and her new friend Maude are up to all kind of shenanigans, and Max keeps retrieving her gnomes from all over town. When Chloe discovers a dead body right after the tree lighting, things take a crazy turn! Mabel and Maude are calling themselves the gumshoe grannies and are convinced they can solve the murder! I totally enjoy all of the books with these wonderful characters! I received a free copy of this book from the author and write this review voluntarily.

Excited about the arrival of her sisters, Chloe is not happy when one of the sisters threatens to leave, dashing the hopes of the rest of the family who are in town to discuss their a new business venture. When another murder mystery hits the Bavarian-style village, the entire town is thrown into chaos. Having recently helped solve the previous murder, Chloe soon begins gathering information on possible suspects. Along with her trusty and clever spaniel, she begins a subtle investigation. This is a wonderful series and enjoyable and engaging book. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Beginning immediately following the conclusion of Deck the Santa, the first book in the Murder All the Way cozy mystery series, Twitch Upon a Star finds Max, Chloe's cocker spaniel, not only discovering a gnome of Chole's mom, Mabel, under the Hollywerth Christmas tree but a dead body as well. With a new crime to investigate, the arrival of her sisters the next day and a family business to discuss, Chloe has a lot on her plate. I absolutely adore Max who is both incredibly smart and overly clever. This is a wonderful holiday mystery with fun and interesting characters set in a winter wonderland.

* I received an ARC from the author but this review is my honest opinion.

Twitch Upon a Star (Murder All the Way Book 2), my ninth enjoyable short (103 page) read from author Sue Hollowell that I finished in about 90-minutes. Picks up seamlessly from the end of the first book in the series. I don't know if it was the dog(Max) or the gnomes (how big is a gnome? I picture them as 2' or 3") but this is Hollowell's best series I've read so far. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Trust Gnome One (Murder All the Way Book 3) next on my TBR list. In this book, once again Max discovers a gnome hidden under the giant Christmas tree that has just had its lights switched on, but, also a dead body.
Chloe isn’t happy with the fact that her mother, Mabel & her mother’s friend, Maude, decide to find out who did the deed. On going back to their room Mabel discovers that she’s been robbed of some of her gnomes! The next day, Zoe & Joey arrive & they are not terribly happy about the murder! They are supposed to be talking about the restaurant back home. Needless to say that Max leads Chloe to the killer. A very enjoyable read.

Before Chloe and her mom can bask in the glory of capturing Santa's killer, another body turns up by the tree at the lighting ceremony. Is nothing sacred in Hollywerth, where Christmas draws visitors from all around for some festive cheer.

Love the energy of her Mom and new friend Mabel, so Granny's Detective Agency may not be far behind the Gnome Museum and the current venture they are trying to get off the ground.

Less focus on the setting, which I miss to help transport me, but still a good solid mystery.

Chloe's dog, Max, discovers a deceased man behind the Hollywerth town Christmas tree during the Christmas tree lighting celebration. Who would want to kill Shawn, an up and coming snow athlete with Olympic ambitions? Chloe, Max, her mother Mable and Mable's friend, Maude, investigate. In the meantime, Chloe's siblings, Zoe and Joey arrive in town to discuss the family business venture with Chloe and Mable. I highly recommend this fun and engaging book to other cozy mystery readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.

Fun Mystery
Another murder mystery in the midst of this Bavarian-style village threatened to throw the entire small-town into mayhem. Chloe, Max, and Mabel decide to attend the Christmas Tree Lighting in the second book in Sue Hollowell’s new series, but all does not go well after Max manages to escape and heads right for the tree just in time to find a dead body underneath. Chloe decides to investigate and it isn’t long before she has suspects, including the mayor.

I really enjoyed reading Twitch Upon a Star and I’m eager to read the next book in this miniseries.

Chloe and her mom are on vacation checking out a new location for their business venture. During the tree lighting ceremony, Chloe's beloved dog, Max, discovers a body. What ensues is a lot of suspects, the arrival of Chloe's two sisters, a potential romance, a theft and a lot of sleuthing. This was a fun read in a great setting with lots of characters and an interesting mystery.

Really enjoyed Twitch Upon a Star. The series is such fun. Love Chloe and Max, and especially the antics of the Grannie Gumshoes, Mabel and Maude. Murder mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing. Had no idea who the killer was. Glad to meet Chloe's sisters Joey and Zoe. Promise of a romance for Joey, too. Hollywerth is the perfect Christmas town. Perfect Christmas story sprinkled with a little murder. Looking forward to the rest in the series.

Who is Shawn? Where do we find him? What has happened? What do we learn about the Mayor from Nick? Who are Zoe and Joey? When Mabel and Chloe are going to their room, what happens in the lobby? What does Mabel realize once they get there? What is truly going on with the murders and the theft in town? What interesting things we learn as the story moves along! I am seriously looking forward to the third book in this series. It has been a fun second read to the series!

Chloe is looking forward to spending Christmas with her family. There’s just one slight problem, a small case of murder. Chloe knows she should be focusing on her family and the reason they’re all together but she just can’t let the murder go. Only one thing to do- solve the murder. An entertaining and easy to read book. Just the right entertainment on a cold wintery day.
