Daddy's Little Deviant: Military Romance, Espionage, Psychological Drama, Action, Thriller

Rate this book
Jared Blackwood is not a nice man, well not by his standards of nice. For years he’s enjoyed playing cat and mouse with some of this country’s most despicable men. However, even the Devil must learn to dance the Polka when angels are shooting at his feet. His day of reckoning has arrived.

Amanda Thorne loves her man, she loves everything about him and she absolutely loves to push the boundaries. She tests his patience, she doesn’t listen, and this time it might get them both killed. Only destiny can get them out of this one.

AMANDA
Jared found me when I was still a model and somehow the day I met him I knew my life would never be the same.
He’s exciting, dangerous, strong and reckless. I trust him to get me out of every hole I dig, but this time he can’t. Tonight when I finally become Cinderella my Prince Charming vanishes into the darkest night of my soul.

JARED
I rip off wealthy clients for fun. I pose as security to get to know the ins and outs of their lives and then I take what they treasure and sell it on the Darknet.
This should have been a regular mission, just a sedate in and out while I take down the darkest man on United States soil. It’s not brain surgery.
It was all going great until the biggest heist of my career is interrupted with two people who shouldn’t be here. It’s all going to hell in a hand-basket now.

Daddy’s Little Deviant is a short and intense Age Play featuring two consenting adults who are the perfect match for each other. It includes some Daddy Dom DDLG elements, danger, exhilaration, espionage and crime, keeping you on the edge of your seat right up to the moment of their Happy Ever After.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Only the s**y cover gets a point.

Everything was a mess.

Where do I begin?

Sigh.

I did not know anything about the main characters. Absolutely no background/context. They were like strangers on a street I would see.

I couldn't tell how their relationship began either. I didn't feel the chemistry, though the steam could be seen. I didn't understand their behaviours, either, specially the girl.

But then again this is a relationship with BDSM elements. So maybe one behaves that way - I don't know.

I didn't understand why he turned to a life of crime either. Yes, everyone complains about the elite, but one needs more valid reasons than that. Otherwise everyone would end up looting the elites.

The side characters were also hard to understand - Ken Doll mainly? What a joke of a nickname honestly. But maybe this sort of thing is common amongst thieves.

Also the heist? What even was that about? I understood the action. But were they there for the money or for secrets? Plus the FMC was really dumb- I lost a lot of marbles, today for this.

Anyway, overall what a disappointment. I expected a bit more from this short story, considering it had all sorts of elements promised - military romance, espionage, psychological drama and others.

But no those were missing. Badly so.

So yeah here's to a loss of a book that promised much.

Sigh. Until the next read (hopefully better than this),

Solid 3.5 stars (simply due to editing issues) out of 5

This short story packs some punch. It’s action-packed and had me turning the pages to see what happened next. There was a moment when my heart dropped, with me saying aloud, “Oh, no! That can’t happen.”

That being said, I think what the title, or category, implies, is a little misleading. Although there is a reference to Amanda (Mandy) being Jared’s (Daddy Dom) little, there isn’t much of that DD/lg dynamic in the story, or much backstory about how they came together, and why they do what they do.

I feel this book could have been much longer, stronger, and more enjoyable if those elements had been included. I did enjoy the story and read this book in one sitting. I did find spelling errors, missing words, and punctuation was a little lacking, but it didn’t really detract from the story. If these sorts of things don’t bother you, I recommend giving it a read.

I was intrigued by the idea of a daddy/little duo who liked to take part in heists. They were going to play hide and seek in the abandoned house during the theft, with the little in her cat woman costume. I enjoyed the introductory scene of this short story, with the little brat testing her daddy's patience in hopes of a punishment. The fade to black aspect surprised me but was fine. Then they were on to the heist scenes right away and this is where it fell apart for me. I had trouble following some of the logic jumps in how this fake security company/theft ring worked. Then we were into several solid pages of exactly how bad the super rich owner of the house was, and what evil he'd been involved in on a world politics level, which pulled me out of the flow of the story and further strengthened my incredulity that one guy, his two brothers, and a former model (who was mostly just there to play and find shiny gifts for herself) could pull off.

This was a short story with some promise. Several story elements could use further polishing, though.

Jared is running a scam as a security company and Mandy is his accomplice. Their latest target is a shady politician and things go haywire in the middle of the heist. This is more of a thriller than romance and/or erotica - there is a brat/Dom, DDlg element to the story but there is no steam until the very end. I didn't care for the characters much, bratty women don't hold my interest, and this story just didn't work for me.

This story had a little bit of everything in it. It was interesting but all over the place. There is a DDlg relationship between the two main characters. They are also involved in robbing a home for not only the goods in the home but information contained on computers and servers. But things go horribly wrong and there is drama involved afterwards.

The characters are interesting but I feel like there wasn't enough to establish who and what they were in this short of a story. The story was good, but it was over too quickly.

Jared poses as a security guy so he can scam wealthy people. Amanda is his woman and ends up involved. Everything changes when their latest job goes wrong. Will they get caught? What will happen between them?

This book wasn't what I expected but I did try to like it. Its not really something I could get into. This is a well written book and just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean it wrong for others. This is just my opinion.

Very good fast paced novella. There’s mercenaries, espionage, danger and exciting episodes. The book may be short but it keeps you turning pages. I received a complimentary copy of the book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Duke.

fast paced

Loved this fast paced book. I enjoyed the whole plot . How these two almost get caught then separated and then the fmc just shows up out of the blue with her daddy’s cargo in tow . This is an excellent quick read.

I found this to be an interesting story to read with plenty of drama, interesting characters, action and many twists and turns. There are a few editing issues but a great story overall. This is my honest opinion.
