Ellen lives in a small town in New England, between the Atlantic Ocean and the White Mountains. She lives with her husband, two sons, and one very spoiled puppy princess.

Ellen writes in the early morning hours before her family wakes up. When she's not writing, you can find her spending time with her family, gardening with her puppy and chickens, or headed to the beach. She loves summer and flip-flops, running on a dirt country road, and a sweet love song.

All of her stories are clean romances where families are close, neighbors are nosy, and the couples are destined for each other.

Olivia's returned to Prairie Valley just in time to spend Christmas with her Nana and her family. She has a shiny new boyfriend and a shiny new career. When her old flame Jesse returns, things get complicated. Olivia suddenly feels conflicted over her feelings for Jesse and the new boyfriend Scott. When she learns that her law firm is representing corrupt politicians and dirty businessmen, her feelings about her career also become conflicted. Does she want to stay in Washington DC or return to Prairie Valley? Does she want her new love or the one she left behind? A great story of second chances and figuring out what's important in life.

When I received this book I was immediately drawn to the cover which I really liked. The book mad me feel like I was catching up with long, lost friends since I have read the other books in the series.. I have always liked Jesse and Olivia with their on and off relationship while pursuing their dreams. I like that this book was fun to read, had a lot of excitement, and had the perfect, romantic ending. I really enjoyed the storyline and all of the characters, especially Olivia's Nana. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Another great story in the series

Olivia and Jesse have loved each other from almost the moment they met but different things always got in the way. Jesse wanted to marry Olivia after they graduated high school but Olivia wanted to become a lawyer, so they went separate ways. Now Olivia has come home to the ranch with her boyfriend, not expecting Jesse to be there. Old feelings ignite but neither is sure what to do. Then Olivia's job gets in the way and she goes back to DC. Both are trying to figure things out but will it lead to them reconnecting or finally saying good by forever? Can some meddling from Olivia's grandmother help? This book keeps you hoping they come together in the end

I absolutely loved "Her Fresh Start Cowboy" by Ellen Joy. This series has been the perfect companion for a long cold Minnesota winter. The writing is excellent, the characters are engaging and the storyline hooks you from the first page until the last. The fact that it takes place in Minnesota was the cherry on top for this superfan. I can't wait until the next series comes out from this author. If it's anything like this one, it will sure to be entertaining and worth the read.
In the meantime, grab this book and the others in the series. It's a great addition to your book collection.

A lovely series set in Minnesota in Prairie Valley, a big farming community. The series is about 2 families who grew up on neighbouring farms. All the books are based around friendships and romance and are easy to read.

This book centers around Olivia, the only daughter of Georgie who the first book was about, set a few years into the future after finishing college.

I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading the rest of the series. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

Her Fresh Start Cowboy was an enjoyable romance. With Jesse and Olivia's on and off again romance, years after the previous stories, this is a fun way to see the whole family again. Olivia and Jesse both have their hang-ups and issues that get in the way of their romance but they both also have their growth through the story. The reconciliation to marriage happened a little fast in my opinion but overall it was a nice read.

Finally the couple’s story we’ve been waiting for!
I love how Joy writes her HEA with enough intrigue to make you wonder if it will actually happen in the end! A Young love that goes their separate ways but eventually finds each other again. A story that will stir emotions and make you want to scream “didn’t your learn from your parents mistakes!” Don’t miss out on this great read!

Just when Olivia thinks she has everything she wanted out of life she realizes maybe she was wrong. She has to make so many changes, some to feel better about herself and some to do the right thing for others. This sweet second chance romance is special because of how close she is with her family.
