Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this ARC! ❤️ Stumble and Fall by Amy Rivers will be released on September 20th.

A very well-written thriller, that, for me, really scored with the great character development. I really grew fond of Kate and Tilly because of how the author portrayed and described them. Even though I didn’t read part one of this series, “Complicit”, I was able to get into this book with much ease.

A very nice read with some heavy topics (check TW’s before reading!). That being said, I really got into this story and wanted to know what was happening throughout it. I’ll definitely pick up the next part, if there’s going to be one!

Stumble & Fall is the second book in A Legacy of Silence series by Amy Rivers. It is an intense and gripping story- a suspenseful psychological thriller with crime and investigation, tension, danger, dramatic developments, action, mystery, tragedy, a quest for justice, challenges, family dynamics, and emotion.
This book follows up Complicit (Book #1), which I hadn’t read going into this story, but luckily this was able to be read as a standalone. But I would like to know more about the backstory of Kate and Tilly, and the events that occurred in Book One, so I will be going back to read that book asap to discover what happened there.
The story pulled me in right from the beginning and held me in its grip the whole way through to the end. I thought the author did a fantastic job of building the tension and suspense, while weaving lots of dramatic and intriguing elements, cleverly, throughout the plot.
These characters were really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were both damaged from past events, but still had the strength to start over and face new challenges, and dangers, head on. I quickly found myself investing in them and the outcome of the story.
The ending leaves a couple of threads that will lead us into Book Three. Can’t wait!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Amy Rivers.

I met sisters Kate and Tilly in book one, COMPLICIT, and was instantly drawn to their stories. Book two finds the sisters initially more settled. Kate has finished renovations on the hacienda that was always intended as a safe place for sexual assault victims. She has opened a practice in town and is having success with clients. However, the ugly threat of human trafficking and personal tragedies remain a part of the sisters' lives.

I am so invested in this story of corruption that I will NOT be ok if the story ends here. I am desperately hoping for a long-running series as I have to see these monsters brought to justice. Kudos to the author for writing so eloquently about such an ugly subject matter. This book is available now.

I’m kind of disappointed I read this book before reading the first in the series. I do feel like I missed a lot of Kate and Tilly’s life and events that took place prior to this book. I’m looking forward the what’s to come, the book ends very abruptly without really coming full circle, so I’m anticipating a third 🤞

Stumble & Fall is the riveting second installment in the A Legacy of Silence series by Amy Rivers. It masterfully delves into the heartrending complexities of shared trauma. Through the dual perspectives of sisters Tilly and Kate, readers are immersed in the harrowing journey of two women who have recently reconnected and bonded over their experiences as victims of sexual assault. Yet, as they unravel the chilling revelation that their suffering may be linked to a broader sexual trafficking ring operating in their seemingly idyllic town, the sisters—Kate, a psychiatrist, and Tilly, a sexual assault nurse examiner—vow to bring the nefarious operation to its knees.

From the outset, Stumble & Fall captivates readers with its emotionally charged narrative and multidimensional characters. Rivers skillfully differentiates Tilly and Kate's inner struggles and aspirations, crafting a poignant portrayal of their individual approaches to coping with trauma. In doing so, she presents two female protagonists who embody strength and vulnerability equally, making it easy for readers to empathize with their experiences. The novel further delves into the sobering reality of how victims of sexual assault are often inadequately protected by societal institutions.

Tilly and Kate's professional roles as a nurse and psychiatrists offer potent insights into such violence's immediate and lasting consequences. Rivers' candid exploration of these topics and other issues, such as grief and relationship challenges, lends the narrative an air of authenticity and sincerity and champions the cause of victims through her evocative prose. Exploring additional themes, such as grief and relationship tribulations, further enriches the narrative, ensuring a well-rounded and compelling reading experience. Among the numerous captivating elements of the story, the most striking is the tender and supportive relationship between the sisters. Tilly and Kate forge a remarkable bond as they navigate their challenges, creating a nurturing environment that fosters resilience and healing. In addition, the portrayal of Kate's compassionate demeanor, even amid the violence that permeates their lives, serves as a poignant counterpoint, further highlighting the strength of their connection.

Stumble & Fall is a superb follow-up to an already captivating series. As the A Legacy of Silence series continues establishing its presence in the literary world, readers eagerly anticipate delving deeper into the exciting world Amy Rivers has skillfully crafted.

The story follows Kate, a counselor, and her sister Tilly, a nurse. Both girls have a traumatic and complicated background of their own. They have been through a lot and want to move forward with their lives while helping others in their own ways. The characters and their stories are deep and emotional. Synopsis: As a high school psychologist, Kate has been through an awful lot in her time. When Kate purchases a new home in the desert with the idea of turning it into a safe haven for abused women she takes on way more than she anticipated. Tilly, Kate’s sister, a SANE nurse has also had her fair share of awful events within her lifetime. The two sisters are attempting to repair their relationship following a year of not speaking to one another. Will the two of them repair their relationship, put their own tragedies aside, and focus on saving women from rapists?

Reader’s Thoughts: Stumble & Fall is the second installment in the Legacy of Silence series. Although I did not read the first novel in this series, I was able to follow along with the storyline fairly well. I may have missed some minor background information but didn’t feel that it took away from the storyline in any way. I plan to go back and read the first novel.
This psychological thriller had me sitting on the edge of my seat, heart racing, while quickly flipping pages for more. The tragic events that Kate and Tilly endured during their lifetime broke my heart. Their strong will and desire to do everything in their power to help these victims made my heart full. As a nurse, I could 100% relate with their instinct to put their own needs aside and care for others. I love that the characters within this novel are flawed, full of fear and self-doubt, but show us readers how to fight for what is right. There were many tough social topics discussed in this novel. Rivers thought these topics out thoroughly and did an amazing job accurately executing these topics into the storyline making every part believable.

Trigger Warnings: Rape, Sex Trafficking, Sexual Assault

Available now in paperback and eBook.

Stumble and Fall was interesting. Definitely a lot of themes but they all weave together beautifully. Some very dark themes that could be trigger warnings for some, so be warned. I thoroughly enjoyed it. A story about two sisters who go through so many obstacles in their lives that most people would struggle with. Their lives intersect in a way that they never expected.
Tilly went through extreme trauma as a teen, and it’s followed her in life. Becoming a victim of DV when with her high school boyfriend she realizes now that it was bigger than her. It’s the way they recruit for the trafficking ring, and is heavily involved in what her sister and her boyfriend are currently going up against. Kate is out to take the ring down. Not only to avenge her sister but also the teenage girl she lost at the high school who got mixed up with the wrong crowd. Kate and Roman were involved deeply in trying to take down the trafficking ring recently. Kate as the high school counselor and Roman local law enforcement. Unfortunately for them it wasn’t before they could save a teenager's life.
What happens when they get too close again?
Will they succeed this time?
I liked the story the author put on the page. Even with the darker themes I enjoyed. I look forward to digging deeper into this author’s other books. don’t let the dark themes stop you. Me, I’m going back to read book 1, since I definitely started book 2.

This is book 2 in A Legacy of Silence series. I haven't read the first book but I was still able to enjoy this book and follow the story easily enough. However I will be going back to read the first book as I want to completely know these characters stories. This is a very intense read and is gripping right from the beginning I couldn't put it down once I started.
The two female characters have gone through a lot but they continue to fight everyday to save women like them and help stop anymore from suffering. However they are getting involved in some dangerous situations and uncovering things that people don't want uncovered.
This once again puts Katie and Tilly in danger but also endangers the people they are trying to help and save.
Katie is trying to rebuild her life by doing what she loves which is helping women who have been through the trauma she has. However while she is helping these people she also starts to uncover things she is not supposed to know which then puts her in danger.
Tilly on the other hand is moving forward with her life until tragedy strikes and sends her on a downward spiral that could end up costing her her life.

This story is very intense and an amazing read. You can't help but get dragged into their life's and you feel like you are fighting along side them. There is elements of danger and twists and turns which keeps the reader gripped and turning the pages. I can't wait to read more.

Stumble & Fall
By: Amy Rivers

SUCH A GOOD STORY! Let me just start with that.
This is the second book in the Legacy of Silence. But I have not read the first book (yet, going to order it right now!) and it read perfectly fine. You may be missing just a little bit of background information regarding Tilly and Kate, but nothing that can’t be figured out through context clues.
This story is heavy, dealing with rape and sex trafficking. It may be triggering to some so a warning might be appreciated.
Tilly and Kate are sisters. They have lived very traumatic and tumultuous lives. However they have not taken this as a hardship they cannot overcome. Rather, it is something that they apply to help others. Kate is a psychologist whose whole practice is helping young people in need. She discovers a potential human trafficking ring that involves the people in power in her town. Tilly is a nurse who has helped one too many women after an attack. Together they work to solve this case.
As hard as the topic is. I love the way that this story handled it. Tilly and Kate are great examples of overcoming adversity. I love the bond they have as sisters and how they are willing to help others in need.
I think Tilly and Kate are greatly developed characters who I was rooting for. I definitely cannot wait to read more about the two of them as the series continues!

I don’t know where to start with this book. The suspense, the drama, the characters, the family dynamics all are fantastic. Add in the brutal subject matter, the powerful tension of this book rockets up.

Kate and Tilly are sisters that grew up in a small New Mexican town with an evil overcast. Powerful men in the city have been trafficking the young girls for years. Kate discovered this when a student of hers at the local high school was murdered. The revelation led to many more, including Tilly’s history with the trafficking ring. Now, after the ring was exposed and Kate and her boyfriend were nearly killed to keep what they knew quiet, Kate and Tilly are attempting to rebuild their lives and their relationship.

Kate has opened her own therapy practice. Tilly and her boyfriend have moved closer. Tilly is starting a new job. Steven is off achieving a dream. Things are settled and seem to be moving towards domestic bliss. But it is never that easy. Tragedy strikes for Tilly. Kate makes some startling revelations regarding her parents. The twist, the questions all leading to more.

I jumped in this series here. I was blown away. Take my advice, it doesn’t matter where you start this series, just start it. I don’t know how much more these sisters can take but I hope they get the justice they deserve in the end. Ruth must go down!!! I will be going back and picking up the first one! I am hooked until the end! You will be, too!!!

Just wow. This series continues to draw me in. The author does a wonderful job crafting together this crime thriller and creating a believable world. She deals with extremely difficult subject matter in a very real way (TW sexual assault).

While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book as it sets the stage and helps with the continued character development in the second book. We get the opportunity to know Tilly better through this story with the book alternating between her and Kate’s points of view. We also get to see Kate continue to both grow and struggle with her new world as a result of everything she learned and experienced in the first book.

The author has an extremely engaging writing style. I finished each book in just a couple of days. I also appreciate the realness and believability of the story. The author doesn’t force happy endings or tie things up neatly, but rather let’s the reader and the characters sit in the emotionality and traumas experienced by these characters. The author also does a wonderful job using multiple character’ experiences and giving the reader a true picture of how sexual assault can affect survivors. The author is clearly well researched on the subject matter.

I’m looking forward to the 3rd book to see how this story continues to develop and conclude.

This book held me right to the very end. I will be going back to read the previous book for sure, but I was able to follow and understand this 2nd book perfectly well! I was captivated the entire time I read!

Something I appreciated about this book, is how the author shows that when things go unexpected or bad, it does not define who you are or the life that is ahead of you. The two girls, Tilly and Kate, had faced things that they should not have had to go through, but yet they did. Where they are now, is because they worked thru the stuff, and they lived the lift they wanted. It wasn't easy for them, but they did it. To me that was really empowering. The book had its own power, I was hoping for the best for the two of them. How could I not? The author took a hard subject to talk about, and completely nailed it. This was a really strong read, and I felt my emotions, yes, I could not put it down. I loved the author's writing! Loved this book!

This book is by far a must read in my opinion! I could not have asked for more! I will be for sure reading the first book in the series! Do not pass up this must read author or book/series! Highly recommend!

I didn't realize this was part of a series, but it read well as a standalone. It was a very intense novel dealing with a heavy topic. There is a TW for rape and sexual assault, so heed that before you start reading. That said, this is a very important topic to read stories about. The details are stunning and you can really feel the anxiety and despair come off the page. The main characters, Kate and Tilly, have been through more than their fair share of trauma and loss, yet are still able to help each other navigate the hard times. I also like that the series tackles abuse from people in positions of power. I know that many victims have a hard time coming forward about abuse and more still are either not believed or not taken seriously. There are perpetrators at all levels and it is good to read a very realistic depiction.

I lived in Cruces when I was younger, so I know a lot of the references to southern New Mexico. I felt like I was there while reading the book, particularly in the details of Kate's gated haven. It felt a little nostalgic and definitely had some heart racing moments throughout the book. I will be on the lookout for the next book in the series!

🦋I remember reading Complicit and really really had a good time with the book and the moment I got to know that it’s sequel is out, I just couldn’t keep calm and I finally read it, this book hands down is the best sequel I ever read knowing the circumstances of the first one Stumble and Fall makes a dashing mark in the series!

The storyline tells us the tale of Tilly and Kate, both of these characters are unique in themselves and are different a well as similar in a lot of ways, having their own mental traumas and dark past, struggling through life and suddenly one incident changes their lives for ever!

The themes are so well used in the story, the author is s good at storytelling that it’s such an immersive read because not just Kate but also Tilly felt so real and I couldn’t even feel like I was reading a book, I just thought I knew this characters!

It also well explores themes like women safety, injustice, mental health and so much more in quite an apt way, to me it was a stunning tale that was undownputable and something I will surely recommend if you want a thrilling as well a bit darker read! Go for it!

Sisters Kate and Tilly have dedicated their lives and careers to helping people, especially young women, deal with and recover from traumatic sexual assault and psychological abuse. As a follow-up novel, this book continues K and T's journey to providing protection to girls in their New Mexico communities and uncovering the web of corruption that is endangering them all.

I received this book as a giveaway prize from StoryGraph and the author/publisher, so I will start off by saying I am grateful for that. I think that this book worked well as a standalone and I didn't feel like I missed anything by not reading book #1. It did a good job of summarizing book #1 and it would've been something I'm interested in reading.

HOWEVER, this book was absolutely littered with spelling, grammar, and spacing typos, name changes (Sam to Stan), and place-holder names for already named characters (Bryn to PSYCHOTHERAPIST), to the point that I cannot in good faith recommend this. It was not mentioned in the contest listing that this was an ARC, or an unedited copy since this book was released in 2022. These mistakes were so frequent and by the end of the book, there was (at least) one on almost every page. It's a shame because I think the plot was so important and I liked the two MCs, but the problems were so distracting. The purpose of giving away books (I would imagine) is to create hype and give readers a positive experience so they will recommend the book to other people, and this was not the case for me. I understand human error and that ARCs will occasionally have 1 or 2 mistakes but it was out of control in this book and completely ruined the reading experience for me.

Aside from all of that, nothing much really happened in the book that would categorize it as a thriller, except towards the ending. I think that if a third book is in the works, it would be interesting to find out how the series ends, but I will not be finding out.

Stumble & Fall (A Legacy of Silence Book 2) by Amy Rivers. I LOVED this book. It's the second in the series but can be read as a standalone although I highly recommend reading them in order. Its the story of Kate Medina who is a psychologist who has returned home to New Mexico following her father and her rape at a prison where she worked. Her sister Tilly has also decided to head back home with her current boyfriend. Tilly had gotten mixed up in a sex trafficking ring in this same town. Luckily she got out but so many others have not. Kate wants to find out what happened to her dad along with exposing the secrets of this town. She also wants to open up a home for these lost girls. Tilly has overcome all the past and become a trauma nurse so she gets a job in town to try to help these girls that were so much like her. When Tilly and Kate start digging and stirring things up their lives become endangered. Will they be able to solve these horrible secrets in this town or will it be the death of them. Read this fast paced thriller to find out!

I thoroughly enjoyed this page turner of a novel, which had me hooked from page one. As a sequel to the first book in the series I would personally recommend reading book one first. Having lost her father, Kate is now working on renovating her desert home and working in her psychological counselling practice. Working from the inside means she can also find out who she can trust, but by searching for answers it puts her in danger. Her sister Tilly has moved back to New Mexico, and when a family tragedy occurs it causes Tilly to go into a cycle of self-sabotage, which nearly gets her killed. Both Kate and Tilly struggle with fear and self-doubt in this sequel, and the lives of the victims they are helping also hang in the balance. However, Kate's determination to save them may actually put more young women in danger, and Tilly may not survive her reckless pursuit for justice. A fast paced and gripping novel which I couldn’t put down. The characters were so well defined I felt like I knew them, making me feel engaged with them and immersed in the storyline.

This is the second part of the series and I wanted to review both in a sequel after reading it together. It’s an amazing read with a lot of twists and turns. It’s a story in continuation to the first book !

In this part, Kate and Tilly are trying to find a new house to justice and are making their lives better way after a huge loss. Tilly became a victim of DV, Roman and Kate were investigating the case. What will happen then ? Will they be able to succeed ? Or will they give up ? What if they got too close to each other ? It’s an interesting investigating story with lot of twists and turns.

It’s an wholesome interesting story, I like the characterisation, it was perfect. With not too short nor too lengthy read, it can be read by anyone and everyone. It was better than the first part, I was already excited to know what will happen next in the first part itself. The language is simple and easy to understand. The writing style is beautiful with a classy cover. Go and order your copy now !

In this follow up to Complicit (which, in full disclosure, I have not yet read), Kate and Tilly are even more determined to do right for their communities. Tilly has found a new position as a SANE nurse and she and Jim have found a new place to live. Kate is working on a her fortress to house girls who are needing a place to escape the evilness they are being lured into.

This book is very fast paced, edge-of-your-seat kinda read. Just what I enjoy!! There are questions yet to be answered and I can't wait to read more of this story! I look forward to finding out answers to some of these burning questions in my mind and I will also be reading the first book to get more context for this one. I don't feel that it's necessary to grasp this story....this is a great stand-alone if needed. I'm just curious as to how some things came together.

Is your stumble and fall going to lead you to great places???

This is by far the most captivating psychological thriller that I have read in a long time! I did not read the first book in this series, but I will be reading it now! Though Stumble and Fall does have connections to its predecessor, it can be read as a stand alone, which I appreciate. There is enough information to not feel lost so readers can jump right in and enjoy! Every page left me chewing fingernails anxiously awaiting what was coming next.

The story follows Kate, a counselor, and her sister Tilly, a nurse. Both girls have a traumatic and complicated background of their own. They have been through a lot and want to move forward with their lives while helping others in their own ways. The characters and their stories are deep and emotional. They each have their own unique background and story, but their lives intertwine beautifully. Kate reeled me in from page one, and I found myself invested in her success and happiness. I can not wait to get to know Kate and Tilly more.

Stumble & Fall is a psychological crime thriller and the second book in A Legacy of Silence trilogy. I read this book not realising that it is actually the second book. I have already started on the first book and will reread this one going forward as I just love these characters.

What a tangled web Amy has given us in this gripping tale and I was happily ensnared. It is an intense read that is full of mystery and tragedy, danger and suspense, corruption and action. There are some dark and heavy themes throughout so beware.

This story is so good that I am not leaving you with anything about it. It is fast paced and will have you hanging off every word and on the edge. The plot is cleverly woven with many masterful threads to bring it all together.

I am glad I stumbled across this author and I can’t wait to read the third book in this trilogy and uncover any remaining secrets.

I was drawn into Stumble and Fall from the cover art. This book warrents a strong trigger warning. The entire book focuses around sexual assault and rape. It was very intense and had me hooked from start to finish. I have not read the first book, so I may be missing some background information, but I still enjoyed the book independently. The beginning had me a little thrown off, trying to determine how all the characters were connected, but it came together mid book. The chapters alternate focus on two sisters- Tilly and Kate. They have similar jobs, both focused on helping those in need and taking down rapists. They have suffered massive tragedy in life but are strong and powerful women. I am not happy with the ending- Tilly's ending was too abrupt in the epilogue. Kate's story is left hanging, with a lot left to resolve. There better be a sequel to wrap up her case!
Highly recommend this book to those who love crime thrillers and mystery drama, but be cautioned of the content.

Stumble & Fall (A Legacy of Silence Book #2) by Amy Rivers

This is the first book I've read by the author. Stumble and Fall is the second book in A Legacy of Silence Series. This story follows Kate and her sister Tilly. It's a hard book to put down once you get into it.

Tilly is a nurse and is good at her job. She is back in New Mexico and the feelings are back as well. She isn't sure what is going on with her, but she knows that she has to do this. The quote I chose for Tilly is: "Fair enough. It’s a small world after all. We’d better get back to the clinic."

Kate is still living in the town she was born in. She bought a house and will be starting her own business. In her want to help girls she may be putting them and herself in danger. The quote I chose for Kate is: "I feel like I’m running on adrenaline. More likely caffeine. I haven’t been sleeping well, so I may have overcompensated this morning."

Highly recommended for Crime lovers.

In this second novel in the Legacy of Silence series, formerly estranged sisters, Kate and Tilly, have reunited in southern New Mexico. When I finished the first novel, Complicit, I put Stumble and Fall on my “must read” list, compelled to continue following the story of these resilient young women who’d endured a tremendous amount of trauma. Now, Kate, a psychologist, has gone into private practice to counsel girls and women who, like her, have experienced sexual violence. I cheered for the sisters in their quests to heal their relationship, find love, and do fulfilling, difficult jobs. Tilly, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), was a teenage victim of a local human trafficking ring. I applauded Kate’s determination to identify the ring’s leader and get justice for the victims. I recommend this suspense novel, and the first and third in the series, for the memorable characters risking their lives to stop sexual violence hiding in plane sight in an ordinary community.

Stumble and Fall is a great read! It is a second book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone - although it will make you want to read book 1! Tilly and her sister Kate have been through a lot in their lives - and those experiences make them darn good at their jobs. Tilly is a nurse that assists in forensic evidence in rape cases and Kate is a counselor who is building a safe house to help young girls. After surviving their own traumas they have a sense of justice to make things safe and right in their hometown.
I really enjoyed getting to know Tilly and Kate in this book - they were well written characters and kept me reading on to find out how they were going to handle the situations they both found themselves in. I was rooting for healing and justice for them both. I am definitely going to read book 1 and keep my eyes out for book 3.

Let me begin with stating that while Stumble and Fall is the second installment of a series, I did not read the first book. However, I do not feel that I was hindered in any way. This was an outstanding novel by Amy Rivers. Two sisters, Kate & Tilly, have definitely had their share of trauma in their lives. In Stumble and Fall, it reveals a story of how these two sisters are attempting to rebuild their relationship whilst also revealing how each sister has taken their own past trauma and used it for something positive in their adult lives. This book is full of suspense, drama & twists that keep the reader engaged completely. After finishing this story, I’ve decided i absolutely MUST go back and read the first installment as well. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crime and suspense thrillers!
