The wily changeling has gotten so deep under my skin that I can’t breathe without feeling her. Her smart mouth is a constant temptation, our salty banter like rough kisses in a darkened room. My thoughts are broken, and I can admit that I’m obsessed. That’s why I’ve been keeping Beth at a distance. I don’t trust myself around her. Not when I can see her wounded soul in her eyes even when she’s laughing. Her flippant words hide a pain that goes so deep I doubt I’ll ever find its bottom.
She has lived her life in chains. How can I begin to understand what she’s been through? I want to so badly that it consumes me. I want to hold her, to promise her she is safe in the winter realm with me. But I shouldn’t. I could get so lost in her that I would forsake my fated mate, one I’ve been waiting on for centuries. So, I create a set of rules and stick by them.
I avoid her and bury myself in preparations for the winter realm’s new queen. It’s working. . . At least it was until I felt the mate bond snap into place.
All my rules splinter when I realize Beth is mine. And when she’s taken from me? I will crush the pillars of Arin to get her back.
When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.

DNF but I have it a good try and made it for the first 2 1/2 books🤷🏼♀️.
This is the spin-off and continuation of the Fae Captive that was Leander and Taylor’s story.
✨Gareth - BFF with Leander the Winter realm King. Both warriors. 💫Beth- human changling recently freed from slavery.
Beth is BFF with a Taylor from the first series. During series one we see some of Garath and Beth journey or the start of it anyways. They have chemistry but Beth is human and Garath is Fae and now that the mating curse is broken he is pushing his feelings for Beth aside to wait for his fates mate that he’s been waiting for his whole life.
Then he realizes that Beth is his Mate and goes after her cause she is in danger.
Ok guys I DNF this one…. And if you know me that’s almost impossible for me. Once I start I HAVE to complete even if it’s just skimming. Well I just couldn’t with this one.
I hate to say it but all the slavery stuff and the fact that they arnt in the winter realm and away from all the original characters didn’t interest me. I tried like 3 times to finish but just couldn’t.
It was boring and I didn’t like Beth or Gareth that much. I wish I liked it more cause I like support No OW drama or cheating and OTT men but I just couldn’t. It just don’t grab me at all which was disappointing cause I LOVED Leanders and Taylor’s story… it was a five star read.
Beth gets on my nerves, I mostly liked her in the first book but now I can't stand her. There's a difference between standing up for what you believe in and being a stubborn fool. She repeatedly shows that she doesn't care what Gareth wants as long as she gets what she wants. She backs him into multiple promises, including one where if one asks a question they both must answer, and she uses it to get out of any situation that makes her uncomfortable instead of talking about it. No, she shouldn't go along with everything Gareth says, but she also shouldn't just decide to go along with whatever whim strikes her while she is completely unprepared. I get that this particular Bazaar sale only comes around once a year, but she doesn't give Gareth any choice other than to agree to a foolhardy scrap of a plan that depends on all the slaves in the city joining the uprising. This all would have gone so much better if Gareth had been allowed to send a message to Leander any of the times he wanted to, but no, Beth decides they will keep forging ahead no matter how dangerous or impossible the path is.
The whole book uses sex as a manipulation tactic and a weapon which I'm not a fan of. The entire book she is using sex/mating with her to get whatever she wants out of Gareth. She says she believes in him but all she does is think about how if she doesn't put off mating and any real conversation then he won't help her rescue Clotty - as if he is only after one thing.
When it comes to freeing the slaves and the mines, Silmarin and Chathain are "we want it now" and get Beth on their bandwagon. Yet AGAIN Gareth wants to get Leander's help and all three force him to go along with their plan, Beth completely ignoring anything Gareth wants. The whole series is Gareth giving in to Beth left and right, Beth continuing to take without giving him anything in return. She can see how much it all upsets him and she's all "Don't be so grumpy" and "It'll be a fun adventure" - yeah, on a crusade you demanded to go on with no military backup that Leander could have provided and against every single protest and valid, rational argument Gareth made. Once they pass a point of no return she allows him to mark her as his mate. Then she uses that bond to make a promise that he will help free all the slaves at the mine KNOWING he did not want to make that promise and had, in fact, refused multiple times. Then, THEN, the one and ONLY thing he asks of her is to stay out of the fight and she throws a tantrum because it was "all her idea". Yes, glad you can acknowledge you are the problem in this situation.
As if I couldn't get more mad at her, Beth then demands Gareth go back to Cranthum to save them again after Cenet took the fighting worthy slaves from the mines and Queen Aurentia is probably on her way to attack the slave city boxing them in. So, instead of going to the Winter Realm like she promised, she tells him they're going back to Cranthum to help. There will always be "just one more thing" and he asks if she wants to take on the Queen too, to which she responds "why not". He reminds her of her promise to return with him and she gets mad he "throws the promise in her face" - you know, like she's done the entire time while forcing him to do one thing after another he never wanted to do. As if he hasn't already risked everything for her. When he is upset about this, Parnon finds him drinking and makes excuses for Beth, as if what she's demanding is reasonable. Of course then Beth and Gareth have sex and all is forgiven.
Spoilers
Beth is taken from the winter realm back to her master Granthos, Gareth follows and kills Granthos and brings his castle crumbling down. Beth makes him agree to help her save Clotty before she will agree to be his mate and let him mark her. In their escape Beth decides she absolutely has to go to the mines in the south to rescue Clotty who was sold for being suspected of helping her escape. Clotty is old and Beth thinks probably dead but still insists on this instead of doing like Gareth says and going back to winter first for reinforcements. Gareth and Beth make it to the main slaver capital and Gareth again wants to call for Leander but Beth is determined to enter the city, steal supplies, and continue on one of the most dangerous paths in Arin to reach the mines.
In the city, Beth is stolen from Gareth by a fellow slave and when he finds her they say they are part of the rebellion and intend to bring down all of the slave trade. He again tries to bring up getting help from Leander and not only Beth but all the others say they're doing this in two days and he can either help them and save lives or allow more people to die. They plan to invade Lord Zatran's private once-a-year Bazaar and assassinate him and the other high ranking fae slavers.

Not what I usually read but paranormal romance is as unreal as it gets and it was just what I needed right now in my life. It’s not award winning writing and there’s way more sex included but the action and adventure is non stop. I would just skip the written porn and go to the rebellion and fighting parts.
