His Notes

Rate this book
Jenny is not the most social person in the world. Her social life revolves around her cat Nina and her self-appointed best friend, Amanda, who, against her will, she only learned to like after putting up with her in school and then university.

As an adult, Jenny is untouchable and unachievable with her constant scowls and brilliant mind. But her self-made castle is about to fall to ruin when she receives a love letter. No, it’s not exactly a love letter, but rather some strange note proclaiming love to her.

Despite how romantic it may sound, her past and the constant feeling of being watched, leads Jenny to think this secret admirer is not someone she wants pining for her, especially when things start to get creepy.

*This gripping, dark tale explores the depths of human-inspired cruelty, vividly portraying a world where everyday people can commit unspeakable acts. There are graphic, detailed scenes that might haunt your imagination, so please read the trigger warning before starting.*

What a thrilling roller coaster ride

This book will leave you wondering about the reveal till the very end. And about the reasons for why such an evil could harbor within normal looking people.

Jenny is the main FMC and around her is a slew of friends that appear to be wishing well. But are they? It is a story with a taut plotline and ample spice to keep you engaged and entertained.

The thriller elements are full of twisted surprises. I was left with my mouth hanging at how the story ended. It was not a true cliffhanger but a promise of continuation of this book with an even darker theme. Can you handle it?

I can't wait for the next one from this series!

This one is highly recommended for people that draw pleasure from bent reality and beyond normal themes.

What a wicked and dark read! Forewarning: if you are triggered easily, this may not be the book for you. This is a tale of twisted romance, betrayal, and torture, but in that all, a beautiful friendship.

Wolff spared no expense with this story and the elements that can make a man both appealing and downright wicked, perhaps even evil. Her execution of the relationships is alluring, and her lead up to the plot twists insanely unexpected.

There's a lot to unpack in this story and it's certainly not for the faint of heart. It's a fun one with the true meaning of dark romance. If you looked up the definition of such a genre, this book would be right there.

If you are a lover of the wicked, twisted, and romantical appeal of a man who knows no boundaries, this story is for you 😏

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story is dark. How dark? Well, I’m not a fan of trigger warnings. I actually make a point of skipping them because I find they act as spoilers to my reading experience. I like to go in blind. However, when I hit some areas of His Notes that would clearly have warranted trigger warnings, I went straight to the front of the story to check what exactly author Wolff wrote in regards to triggers a reader might come across in her story, because… Whew! And I’m not referencing the kink readers encounter at the onset of the story. No. lol This story drags the reader down a dark alley, and all sorts of crazy stuff happens there. I don’t mean paranormal, or fantastical science fiction stuff, either. I mean dark, gritty, violent, human-inspired cruelty with descriptive language and detailed scenes that evoke images, and even revolting smells, in the reader’s imagination. There’s no comfort in Caspar the Friendly Ghost committing these crimes. There’s no invented science fiction as the cause for suffering here. This horror feels real because the perpetrators feel real. Here’s a quote from His Notes that explains what I mean:

“Monsters are everywhere in the world, they are not even hiding because they look like
you and me. They live on our street and work next to us in the office. They sit next to
us on public transportation and pay their supermarket bills like everyone else. They
stalk us on our social media, like our comments and photos, and they spy on us from
cameras we never knew were there. They look inside our houses from the outside and
sometimes they are even our relatives, people we grow up with, never knowing the
little dirty things they do when no one is looking. Because that’s the thing about real-
life monsters, they don’t necessarily really look scary to the eye, or have something so
clear on their faces that tell us they are there to make us suffer. Oh no, real monsters
hide in plain sight, they are also those degenerate mothers and fathers, abusive
brothers and sisters, and people who you would never expect to be the ones
responsible for the suffering to come. Real monsters look like everyday people. That’s
why they are so scary.”

Did author Wolff go too far in writing her story? No. She just went. She told her dark story and she showed no sympathy for the reader who turned a page in her book and entered into a nightmare of violence. And why should she, anyway? She’s an artist who uses words to create her art. She’s self-publishing her art and writing and editing it in her second language. (Keep that in mind when you encounter a minor error or two.) Can’t all be ‘beach reads’ or ‘holiday reads’ or have romance tropes to make you swoon. This is something different. This is something with anger.

While reading some of the more shocking scenes in His Notes, I remembered watching Season 2 of American Horror Story. Yeah, remember that season? That was intense! Here’s something else about His Notes, I didn’t guess the ending. I was all over the map about what was going on. The breadcrumbs were there, but my mind kept living in the moments I was reading, hardly having time to ponder what the ending would reveal. If you’re looking for very dark story written by an author who isn’t overly concerned about dragging you through hell, definitely pick up a copy His Notes.

This book delves deep into the realms of dark romance, weaving a twisted narrative that demands caution. I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings as this novel is not for the faint of heart.

As someone new to this genre, I found His Notes to be a confronting read. But that’s the point. Thaise Wolff demonstrates bravery in tackling difficult subject matter head-on.

For those who revel in the complexities of dark romance and are looking for their next read, I encourage you to support the work of this talented and emerging author and give His Notes a go.

Thank you, Thaise, for sending me a copy of your novel in exchange for this review.

Whoa, talk about a dark and twisted ride! Heads up: if you're sensitive, this one might not be your jam. It's all about messed-up love, backstabbing, and some seriously messed-up stuff, but somehow, there's this beautiful friendship in there too.

Wolff goes all out with this story, showing how a guy can be hot and also a total jerk, maybe even evil. The way she handles the relationships is so darn captivating, and you won't see the plot twists coming at all.

This story's a lot to take in, not gonna lie. It's like the ultimate dark romance package. If you're into that kind of messed-up, twisted romance stuff, then this book is totally up your alley.

Loved the narration from Stephanie Arnold

Jenny a unsocial person her life revolves around her cat Nina and her friend, Amanda. The person who she had to put up at school and then university.

Jenny has self-made castle, which are about to be dented she receives a love letter. A letter from someone proclaiming love to her.

It may sound romantic but Jenny has a feeling of being watched.
This thriller will keep your toes, with the suspense, mixed with steamy tension, angst and drama. The end questioning everything you thought you knew!.

I'll start off by saying to remember to check the trigger warnings before diving in. ❤️

I went in blind to this one and I feel as though that had added to the emotions that I felt while listening to it. There were plenty of times I found my jaw on the floor in shock from the things that happened in this one. The whole story in general had me on the edge of my seat, desperately wanting to know how it ended. Just when I thought I had figured things out, the twists definitely threw some of my thoughts out the window. It was an interesting one for sure!

This is a dark read that delves into some dark subject matter. There are triggers for some in this read. It is very interesting and intriguing with twists and turns I did not see coming. It is twisted as monsters hide in plain sight and those you would never suspect to be one.

Enjoyed this book! This truly isn’t just a romance—it’s a psychological puzzle told through Jenny’s fractured lens. Isolated but brilliant, Jenny finds her world disrupted by anonymous notes that blur the line between intimacy and intrusion. The fragmented narrative style cleverly mirrors her unraveling mind, forcing the reader to piece together the truth alongside her. While I wished for deeper dives into her past, the ambiguity adds to the tension, leaving you with a lingering sense of unease that makes this story unforgettable.

This book had me biting my nails through and through.

I got this early copy of the book for an honest review. The author wasn't on my radar, and she's not too well-known online, but man, this feels like one of those hidden gems just waiting to be uncovered.

The storytelling is straightforward, with a few hiccups here and there, but overall, the book really had me hooked. I thought I had the stalker figured out at some points, but the ending totally threw me for a loop.

Some parts hit me hard, and I'm not kidding when I say you've got to be ready for some dark and gritty stuff if you're diving into this one. But it's worth it in the end.

What a wicked and dark read! This book is full of twisted romance, betrayal, and torture.
There's a lot to unpack in this story and it's certainly not for everyone, but if your trop is stalker, suspense, erotica, murder and crime, that's the kind of book you.
