Lumiere by Belinda Stott had an interesting premise that caught my attention, but the pacing really didn’t work for me. Some parts dragged so much that I actually put it down about 25% of the way through and didn’t pick it up again for two months.
I’m also a bit unsure how I feel about the way God was depicted. I haven’t read much Christian fantasy where He speaks directly to the characters, and I don't really know if that's something I'm into or not.
Overall, it was a creative idea, but the uneven pacing made it hard to stay invested.
