Her biggest dream’s offered on a platter, but the clincher is, she has to marry a perfect stranger.
When her employer offers the no-nonsense Shannon Nadjiwon the position of chauffeuring Séamus Daugherty, she jumps at the chance. To work for one of Toronto’s most powerful families means she can make her biggest dream of owning a fleet of limos come true, something her female relations tooling away at her Ojibway community want badly for her, and she won’t let them down.
His reckless need for speed cost Séamus Daugherty his license. If he doesn’t marry, as demanded by his overbearing father, he will lose not only his lucrative job with the family business—the only positive aspect in Séamus’ gilded cage life—but everything Daugherty.
The unpretentious and gorgeous Shannon will make the perfect bride, and Séamus is ready to strike a deal with her, one that will ensure he keeps everything he holds dear if she puts a wedding ring on her finger. However, they face three big His family, her family, and a marriage neither truly wants, leaving both wondering if the sizzling sexual chemistry and cozy rapport they share is enough to create a happily ever after.
An Ojibway from Northwestern Ontario, Maggie resides in the country with her husband and their fur babies, two beautiful Alaskan Malamutes. When she’s not writing, she can be found pulling weeds in the flower beds, mowing the huge lawn, walking the Mals deep in the bush, teeing up a ball at the golf course, fishing in the boat for walleye, or sitting on the deck at her sister’s house, making more wonderful memories with the people she loves most. https://books2read.com/ap/n0AggA/Magg...
I really liked the fact that Shannon had a job in this story that I don't think I've read about a woman holding before. I love learning about the jobs characters have and the more variety the better. She and Seamus have immediate chemistry which they try to resist despite their fake marriage plans. As Seamus and his family get to know Shannon, they'll be surprised and delighted by her strength and sympathetic understanding of the trials previous generations of this Irish family had to endure based on her family's experiences on the reserve. Another winner from Maggie Blackbird highlighting differences and similarities among cultures and histories.
Seamus... stuck with no driver's license, thanks to his love of speed. Now he has a driver. Shannon is working toward owning her own car and company. He's headed for an arranged marriage, courtesy of his parents. I love the plan he comes up with. His new bride, Shannon, will be able to open her business, and he'll outsmart his family. They discover red hot chemistry, as they begin to wonder if this can be permanent. As always, I enjoy seeing the author's insertion of her culture. It was a great story to read. I don’t usually read contemporary romance but I made an exception for HIS PROPOSITION by Maggie Blackbird partly because of its unusual setting and partly because the blurb hooked me in. The heroine is a member of Canada’s indigenous First Nations community; the hero is rich and perpetually at war with his domineering father. Blackbird’s depiction of relationships and how one can resent, love, and yearn for a family member’s approval at the same is uncommonly perceptive. Five stars for a very satisfying read. Warning: the heat level is high by my standards but it doesn’t involve zombies, dinosaurs or weird stuff.
The main romantic and external plot arc in this book showed nuance and finesse. I enjoyed reading about a culture that I am unfamiliar with, and I enjoyed watching the characters develop. I thought the sex writing, however, was coarser and a little repetitive. I ended up skimming those parts, which I wouldn't normally do. (That's why there is a 3 instead of a 4.) I will try more by this author. I received a copy of this book for judging.

Well written, full of intrigue, a fake marriage, strong characters and some steamy scenes. All this makes for a really great book. Easy reading and not being able to put it down, a real page turner. The author has written a great book.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Shannon and Seamus. The author takes you into their lives with a fake marriage and a sizzling chemistry. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read.

I've read several books written by Maggie Blackbird; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
She has written another good stand-alone book. The story is about Shannon & Seamus; she becomes his chauffeur after he loses his driver’s license. When his father tells him unless he gets married he’s going to lose everything including his job.
Shannon Nadijwon is to be Séamus Daugherty's chauffeur but he asks her to do a fake marriage with him. The story held my interest and I was happy to see them get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
