This series was SOOOOO GOOD!! 💕Action Packed, swoon worthy MC’s and bad ass FMC’s. I loved every second of this series. You root for them , you cry with them, you laugh with them. The story line is not hard to follow at all it’s a pretty easy and quick read (because you won’t want to put it down) and the character development was just *chef’s kiss* My favorite book out of the whole series has to be Charm because I just loooovvveee a certain couple I cannot say because *SPOILER* 😂 but do yourself a favor and pick up this series. It unputdownable (yes I’m making this a word) and unforgettably fun!
The concept and characters were good. But it felt like there were world building issues. For example, is the invitation somewhere no longer necessary after book 2? Did Flint kick a door down after he lost his leg in battle?

(Apart from it being "clearly" inspired by some of the biggest vampire book series uhm uhm twilight ) The first book had its moments, and I initially enjoyed the premise—but it quickly became clear that it was written during the COVID era by someone who doesn’t seem to fully understand how real teenagers speak or behave. If I have to read the phrase “kick-ass” one more time, I might scream. It felt forced and outdated, like someone trying a bit too hard to sound cool and relevant.
As the series went on, the dynamic between Jaxon and Grace became increasingly confusing. It was as if their previous connection never happened. After spending two entire books building their romance, their sudden lack of chemistry and emotional depth felt jarring and out of character. It made their relationship seem hollow and inconsistent with everything we had seen before.
As a queer reader, I also found Flint’s coming out scene deeply disappointing. It was so abrupt, with zero build-up or emotional groundwork, that it almost came off as mocking. Instead of feeling authentic, it felt like an afterthought— a checkbox to tick off for representation. And mating him with Jaxon? That choice was baffling. While I’m all for queer representation and even the idea of Jaxon and Flint being mates in theory, it just didn’t make sense in the context of what we were shown. Flint had spent two books being clearly in love with Grace, and suddenly that’s all erased without any meaningful exploration?
It honestly felt like the author was trying to be “relatable” and inclusive without putting in the necessary narrative effort to make those choices feel earned or believable.
____________ That said, I do have to give credit where it’s due: the series did get better as it went on. Particularly once we started to explore the four months Grace and Hudson were trapped together. That storyline brought much-needed emotional complexity and character development. Hudson, especially, grew into a much more layered and compelling character, and their bond felt far more authentic than anything we saw with Jaxon. Those moments finally brought some depth and nuance that earlier books lacked.
I have got to say, I really enjoyed these. It’s definitely YA, lots of teen angst and drama, however it was also a great paranormal read. It had a little of everything but I think what I specifically liked about it the most was the central romantic relationship was highly focused on communication and empowering one another. I think it’s a great example for young readers on building an equal partnership based off your own strengths and what you can bring to the table. It was about built trust and relying on your friends and opening your mind to the fact that you wont always have the best ideas, but that the people you love are there to help you out. I also enjoyed how the writer approached forgiveness in romantic relationships, and meeting your partner where they’re at, not where you want them to be. Overall, definitely would read again and will recommend to anyone over the age of spicy-reading tolerance.
Crave is the first book in the Crave series and this was just a fantastic way to start off a new series. I was just completely drawn into this world with all of its amazing characters. There was just so much going on with this story you were just constantly learning new things about this world. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this series.
Crush
Crush is the second book in the Crave series and it picks up months after the ending of Crave, the first book in the series. I just loved getting to reenter this world and see what is currently going on. I am just absolutely loving this world. The characters are just so great and I just love that we got to meet some new ones and that a family was formed. There is just so much going on in this story and the ending. Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Very captivating, beautiful story. A super fun one to read, a rollercoaster of emotions for sure! This series helped me get out of my awful reading slump. Only complaint is a lil confusion within the storyline at maybe the beginning/middle. Besides that, wonderful writing and def a rereader once I get through my TBR.
this is a series i would’ve frothed at the mouth for in middle school. def more ya (i appreciate that these books are more age appropriate, i’ve seen too many middle schoolers reading icebreaker) overall not bad!
These books are on my shelf now. I enjoyed the banter the characters formed. The worlds that collided and the love that formed for all, including little shadow 🥹
Good storytelling. Not 5 stars just because sometimes she carries on a little too long and it gets a bit boring but mostly very good and entertaining story. Enjoy the characters very much.
Love these books but felt Charm is out of place. I think Charm should be read earlier. Reading it before the last book is tedious and kind of feels like a drag. I loved learning what happened between our two lovers during those missing months but by the time I got to that story I just wanted to know how things ended.
Couldn't put these books down. Each book was action packed and kept me turning pages at every free moment I had. By the fourth book, I did feel it began to get a little repetitive.
