A pretty basic, but thoroughly enjoyable disaster novel.
The entire thing reads like the first act of a zombie movie (which I very much mean as a compliment). An unknown and extremely deadly disease crops up all over the country and starts wrecking havoc. The disaster starts only a few pages in, and continues to unfold at exactly the right pace. Chapters are written to have a mini-cliffhanger which I found kept me turning the page to find out what happens next (though thankfully the book does not end this way).
The viewpoint characters are a dad and his son, the son of a wealthy businessman and his wife, and two teenagers (one of whom is the daughter of said businessman). All are very likable. Most importantly for this genre, they are decently intelligent too. Some of the side characters are a lot of fun as well. My favorite was the ditzy HOA member, Candice.
Book 1 ends well,
All in all, it was a fun read which I finished in two days. 5/5 stars for just being a good disaster story.
A supremely believable scenario intensely unravels in The No Tomorrow Series opener Decimation, by B.K.Boes and Master of The Post-Apocalyptic Survival-Thriller Mike Kraus.
A deadly infection spread worldwide by unsuspecting environmental activists, a corrupt CEO who's not all he seems, innocent families and whole communities ripped apart by needless death - and maybe two people who can make all the difference, before the end of the world as we know it arrives? Will they be too late?

Highly recommended to fans of Justin Bell, Stephanie Mylchreest and Marcus Richardson's excellent collaborations with Mike Kraus.
Great characters, you really root for them right from the beginning. They’re realistic too, they make mistakes and you kinda want to slap them, but it makes sense. Nobody is truly ready for the apocalypse, right?
The story is absolutely interesting and it never stops, sometimes it’s action, sometimes it’s drama, but there’s always something happening. Some humour too.
The virus is creative. I definitely want to know more.
A few scenarios were a bit cliché, as soon as something happened I could see where it was going to end, but it didn’t distract me and it certainly didn’t ruin the story.
If you like TEOTWAWKI and SHTF stuff plus real characters, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU.
Wow this is book one of a new serirs. Mike Krause, I have many series that his has written with other authors. BK Boes this is my first book by him. The two have created a series that has way more question than answers, no one really know what is going on. what is happening to people from everywhere. Some are dying from some mysterious sickness. Others are dying due to the worst that humanity has to offer. Life and death go hand in hand. When someone has created this deadly sickness, it is up to only a very small hand full of people to figure every thing out. Can't wait to start book two in this very intense series. Take the journey with us and read "The No Tomorrow series". It is a journey worth taking.
This book is fantastic. The pace is perfect and the story is the best. I was so into this story that I wanted to shoot a person that when you read it you’ll know who it is and why. When I started reading i literally couldn’t put it down it is such a compelling story and so well written that it was easy to keep reading. The main characters Zara and Liz who we follow from the beginning are like chalk and cheese but best friends. There are other characters who are introduced down the line but it’s telling when i dislike or love a character so much that the book has done its job by keeping me engrossed. It’s a great read and a book to lose yourself in.
Highly contagious diseases with very short incubation periods and high fatality rates are much less likely to lead to a pandemic than those with a long incubation period and low fatality rate because they burn themselves out quickly: there’s less opportunity to spread the infection before patients die, and they’re easier to isolate. Mosquito vectoring would not cause so many nearly simultaneous cases. And it’s “Centers for Disease Control,” not “Center.”
This had a action-packed start with a mysterious illness, cause unknown. There are some good characters in different locations and includes the rather odious Mr Peters, who seems to have some knowledge about what happened but not why. It was a little bit of a puzzle as to why Frank the pseudo-mob guy would drop Timothy safely at home and just issue a threat to return. The writing was good with very few editing issues and it set up nicely for the next book. Good start to a series.
This book is scary as hell especially for those who live in tropical climates of the southeast, where mosquitoes are prevalent. Pesky mosquitoes are irritating to some like me, they buzz around but don’t bite. They cause allergic reactions for some. But they can carry debilitating and/or deadly disease. The authors have taken an ordinary pest and created a monster to scare the holy hell out of the reader.
Mike Kraus, you found a great author whe you found BK Boes! I've been finding the PostApoc stories getting more and more formulaic. I think I've read so many of them they all seem to be the same. This one escaped that fate until the fight at the gated community near the end. I swear I've read it somewhere else (!). So..., BK & Mike, beware the formulae.
What a fantastic story. I love apocalyptic books, this one was different from the others I have read. I really enjoyed every chapter and did not want to stop reading, I was holding my eyeballs open at 3 30am so I could finish it. I can not wait for book 2.
Wow! Think…Covid, riots multiplied by a million. An unknown disease causing painful, brutal, gross dying. People going crazy. It is a cliffhanger, but I can get the rest on kindle unlimited, so I’m not too mad about it. The characters are well defined and all but one is likable. Can’t wait to read what happens next.
It caught me from the beginning with the likeable family and the two friend girls. However it got a little corny. Some of the storyline doesn't seem plausible but that doesn't make it a bad read. The characters are likeable and i finished the book. Which means its okay.
decimation is a real page turner and a series I've been looking forward to reading. I'm rapidly finding that no matter who Mike Kraus is collaborating with he is the author to read. Very strong characters , interesting and thrilling stories and not a zombie in sight. Brilliant.
Decimation is a high-tension, emotional Farris wheel ride (you’ll understand why I used this when you read the book)! The characters are realistic and most are easy to like-a few, easy to be disgusted by. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to reading book 2 of this series.
This adventure had me laughing and crying and falling in love with characters. I love the layers of personalities that are slowly being unraveled. The complexity of the story is brilliantly woven into manageable parts and every chapter makes me want more. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Beginning of a great series by BK Boss and Mike Kraus.
Humanity enjoying themselves until they can't. Who and what is killing people all over the world? What is spreading it and who unleashed it on the world? Twists and turns unfold and is there a cure?
Starts out with a bang at the beginning of the first chapter and the tension doesn't let up through out the whole story. Stayed up until 3am to read and finished it 12 hours later. Loved it!
A perfect plot, scary and Erie. Danger all around , so well written that the words make you feel the emotions going on. Will everyone survive this disaster. Great beginning to a new series.
Imagine being at a fair ground and suddenly people are dying violently gruesome deaths. People are scared and panicking. Read how some survive and others not
The story kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. Definitely recommend the book to anyone. It is horror, drama and a thriller all rolled up into one Book.
Enjoyed the characters and the entertained stories. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. A different twist on an apocalyptic thriller.
Plethora of characters to provide curiosity about their circumstances and how they react to each situation they find themselves in as the world becomes a nightmare.
