The Practical MBA on Economics What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School- A Focus on Inflation!
A Plethora of Wealth - Knowledge - Insights, that will help you take over the World and Beyond!
Government and the Central Banks have been managing the economic business cycle for over 100 years, creating the biggest Ponzi scheme of money printing ever invented in the history of civilization, as we now find ourselves living in a precarious house of cards. By hallowing out our manufacturing, have we diminished our inventiveness? What role did China really play in this, and what role did our own selfish desire affect the outcome, and what was the trade-off? Is this the beginning of the end of US monetary global dominance, and how long can we print fiat money to support the vestiges of a declining Empire? Is the cost of living going up, or is it because currency is rapidly depreciating? What is the true source of effective inflation, and why is the wealth divide becoming greater? The pages of this book bring to light the roots of our economic order of today, and help explain the world around us, how we arrived here, and what might lie ahead. The Practical MBA on Economics is comprehensive, fast-paced, making for magnificent theatre, full of spills and chills, from stock market crashes to sovereign debt default, to the 1944 Bretton Woods reset, the IMF, the WTO, U.S. Dollar reserve, and mercantilism. We come to meet the economic thinkers that shape our world today from Adam Smith, Richard Cantillon, John Maynard Keynes, David Ricardo, Murray Rothbard, and Milton Friedman. With intellectual clarity, insights, wit and humour, Gulesserian challenges the narrative, simplifies complex economic ideas, and draws from historical events, to explain how we came to the current financial world order, its perils, and the future of tomorrow! With compelling anecdotes that entertain, filled with relevance and a library of knowledge that leaves the reader feeling full, and liberated to unlock the future. So, butter your popcorn, do fasten your seatbelts, and enjoy the ride.
I was literally sitting in my microeconomics class back in 2011 once again when I took a look at Joseph Gulessarian’s work. I’ve always stated that August/September 2011 was more of my red pill year, where my views on economics changed from those of collectivism/socialism to more of an anarcho-capitalist/libertarian/classical liberal mindset.
My teacher/professor at the time talked about the likes of Mises, Rothbard, Hayek, Sowell, Friedman, and so many others I am most definitely forgetting. Long story short, the first question I asked myself was, “Why did we never learn about these guys in school?”
And my question while reading The Practical MBA on Economics preached an identical question: “Why are schools still not teaching us this? I could honestly write my own book on the subject, but instead of answering that question, Gulesserian gives you a far more sound economics lesson in one, easy-to-read 500-page book that you would never learn in 13-18 years sitting in a classroom.
I am one of those writers/authors that encourages broad mindsets. So if you sat through economics classes whether it was in high school or at the university level, check out Joseph Gulesserian’s work for a simple alternative, and a far more economically sound piece of literature than you would get anywhere else. And it might cost you a few-thousand dollars less!
I found Joseph Gulessarian’s The Practical MBA on Economics: What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School to be a must read for me to have a better understanding about the economy, economics, money managing, and financial issues. As I am getting older, I realize that I need to look more into the future and for when I retire. I have no idea about what inflation, rising interest rates, and all that stuff means. I like how the book breaks it down to where it makes more sense to me and learning about the economic history was a plus. There are graphs and charts all throughout the book that I found to be helpful to get a grasp with what the author was trying to convey.
I am giving The Practical MBA on Economics: What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are interested in economics and for those who need to understand finances better. I believe it is a perfect tool to place on my keeper shelf and have on hand for years to come. I would be interested in reading more books like this by Joseph Gulessarian in the future.
I received a paperback copy of The Practical MBA on Economics: What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Having a better understanding of economics, money management, and financial issues is enhanced by reading Joseph Gulessarian's The Practical MBA on Economics: What They Do & Don't Teach You At Business School. I realize that as I grow older, I need to take a closer look at the future and at when I'll retire. My understanding of inflation, interest rates, and everything else is limited. As well as learning about economic history, I appreciated how the book breaks down complex topics so that I can understand them. It was helpful for me to get a sense of what the author was trying to convey by using graphs and charts throughout the book. In my opinion, The Practical MBA on Economics: What They Do and Don't Teach You At Business School deserves a five-star rating. For those interested in economics and wanting to better understand finances, I highly recommend it. On my keeper shelf, I will keep it for years to come because I regard it as a perfect tool. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to read more books written by Joseph Gulessarian in the future.
In his Book, 'The Practical M.B.A. on Economics "What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School', Joseph Gulesserian warns the people of the world, especially those of the U.S. and Canada, of the dire circumstances our countries are in because of greedy, improvident governing leaders and Feds. He goes into detail in an orderly manner, using charts, illustrations, and terms the average person can understand. Even if yo are not interested in detail this is a must read so each person can be a part of the cure and not ignore the problem. By doing so, you can help save lives, including you own. I feel this book's information is imperative for all people to know. Knowledge is power and can save lives!
Joseph Gulesserian brings such a wealth of information. It is spectacular to read the amount of history, the present day figures and what is certain in the near future he covers in this substantial book.
We often hear of the U.S. national debt. He breaks it down by stating it would take every household in the U.S. to pay over $250,000. to pay off the national debt! He also breaks down the debt of other countries. This is just one bit of information in the early part of his book.
Another thing that he really emphasized is how the governments are creating money out of "thin air". The actual substance to back that money is not there!
I have pondered much on what use is protesting, global warming warnings, etc. if the worlds economy crashes and there is no food or resources to survive with. Only a certain few greedy, wealthy individuals will survive. Many who are the ones creating this array of devastating situations. The near future may make the Great Depression seem mild.
I really appreciate this authors "down to earth" approach in writing this very informative, interesting book. It was too shocking to me to enjoy the humor in it. I know the world, particularly the U.S., situation is horrible. I just never realized just how HORRIBLE it is!
I do not believe in a one world government, which I feel this author alludes to, but I do feel this information needs to be more far-reaching and more of the public aware of just how gargantuan the lies and deceit which have been delved out by government and Feds leaders has been and what an enormously precarious position they have put us all in. We all need to evolve out of our passiveness and fantasies and do something before it is too late, if we can.
I offer a Five Stars rating for this volume of literary work.
*This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
The Practical M.B.A. on Economics Offers Value to All Readers. Let me begin by admitting that my husband has a strong background in economics, business, and finance--and has spent the last year suggesting that our two younger daughters explore the possibilities of adding M.B.A.s to their educational goals. Initially, I will also admit that I did not see the need for this if the girls had no interest in careers in business administration. After reading this book, I found a greater understanding of economic applications in our life (past and present)--and a greater appreciation for fostering that understanding in my daughters. This book presents much information to readers. While it looks a bit economic textbook-like--the actual text brings real-world examples, ideas, and analysis to the economic concepts introduced--offering readers a practical understanding of the material.
Short sections introduce loads of information. From home prices to bailouts, inflation to wealth inequality, and economic history through bitcoin--the author packs in many facts, figures, details, and ideas for readers to consider. He does write his pages presenting his own analysis and conclusions--but teaches a lot of practical information open to reader interpretation as well. The book is long but quite well presented, entertaining, informative, and thought-provoking.
Would I Recommend The Practical M.B.A. on Economics by Joseph Gulesserian? The author does an excellent job presenting many technical, economic ideas in a way that is easy to understand and interestingly thought-provoking. Our current world financial situation is one that everyone should seek to understand--and this book offers a wonderful starting point for those interested in understanding. I enjoyed revisiting some of the historical details that I was already a bit familiar with, as well as recent events from the past 20-30 years and the author's thoughts on the path ahead. I would recommend it to everyone seeking a more robust understanding of the economic principles truly at play in the world around us.
I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher. All opinions are my own.
One of my majors in college is Economics so when I saw this book come up for tour I jumped at the chance. I know economics is not the most thrilling topic for most people but it is a very important topic to understand. This book is not a quick read at 527 pages but if you want to read about economic events in everyday terms, it is worth the read. This book includes examples from as recent as fall 2021 so it is very relevant. The author covers general topics as well as specific events such as the Great Depression and the Great Recession. It is broken into clear sections so if you are not interested in a topic, you can easily skip to what does interest you. It is a very interesting book.

💻📖🎧 Book format & quality 💻📖🎧 Softback book, slightly waxy cover with thick front and back covers. Thick pages too, which means this book will survive the rigours of reading, given its size.
🌻SpLD comments (from a dyslexic)🌻 Bright white pages would normally be a challenge for me but the author has selected an excellent font shape and colour, so it's very easy on the eyes. Interdispersed with graphs and sub sections this book is very easy to follow.
🎨 Artwork🎨 I liked the artwork as it is eye catching and font colours means it's key works are clear.
✒️ Style✏️ I really enjoyed the authors writing style, reflective and insightful. I certainly feel like I've learnt a lot in reading this book.
📈 Plot 📉 It felt quite typical to read this at the moment, given the situation in the UK economy at the moment. The author reflects on a number of "case studies" from a number of different countries. It was insightful to see lessons identified and someone's learned over the years. From Stock markets crashing, to the great depression, and I can't go without saying (as it's nearly Halloween) zombie companies.
📖 Read more 📖 Whilst I'm not studying Economics I felt this book has a lot to offer the lay person. It's easy to follow and in language the non expert can understand. So yes, is read more.

Do you remember sitting in class wondering how money worked? And your teacher would go on and on about the diverse ways we can use it without giving real world examples?
Well, then I think you will like Joseph Gulesserian and his new book The Practical M.B.A. on Economics "What They Do & Don’t Teach You At Business School". Joesph Gulesserian took the topic of economics and showed why some of world’s economics work—and why they do not. It was thoroughly researched (right up until mid-May of 2022 I believe), and Joesph Gulesserian included many graphics to emphasize his points (and for those who are visual learners to more easily picture the state of our countries finances), Joesph Gulesserian also presented a plethora of citations to back up his points which I doubly appreciated, when I realized just how many references were in each chapter.
One of my favorite chapters was #6 on Unemployment. Joesph Gulesserian explains the deficits of unemployment, they varying types of unemployment, and how society as a whole has started promoting college as the thing to do; yet millions of college students (myself included) are left wondering what the point was as we came out with virtually no applicable skills.
To say I found this book fascinating would be an understatement.
This book is one I highly recommend that everyone should read to better understand the way economics have evolved over the last several decades. It quite honestly gave me a better understanding of economics than my business degree did (which is a sad situation if you ask me).
I know from now on I will be buying Joesph Gulesserian’s books as reference to satisfy my economical curiosity. As I found him to be forth right, honest, and most importantly— Joesph Gulesserian backed up his findings with REAL facts verses emotional thoughts.
The Practical M.B.A on Economics gets a 5 star rating from me (I would give higher if I could) and it is a book as I said before, that I think EVERYONE should be reading right now.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback.
For someone who knows zilch about economics this absolute mammoth of a book might not seem the most appealing but in the current financial climate there is definitley an appeal to it. Its far too intellectual for me, however there were also laymans explanations peppered throughout and a little humour that I appreciated - " Without boring you with the balance of calculations, ... (dont worry, I did the calculations)." I enjoyed the quotes at the start of each chapter and there are diagrams throughout for those who are a more visual learner. The chapter on unemployment was very interesting to me, the critique on universities really spoke to me seeing as I work in a university, in a Business School no less! I agree with a lot of the points made but do not feel that the blame lies where the fingers are pointed at the end of this chapter. The Chinese Debt Trap section was really fascinating and I enjoy how the writer includes personal anecdotes to help the reader understand. If this is the sort of topic you have any interest in then I am positive you will truly enjoy this book.
Lots of good info interwoven with author preaching gloom and doom from his soapbox
Here is a short summary of the book. Gold standard good, bitcoin good. Deficit spending bad, big government bad, fiat money bad. Modern Economic Theory is herectic. Cabalaucracy will merge the best of capitalism with communism for the benefit of the aristocracy. Commoners will be kept docile with universal basic income and propaganda from government controlled big media.
On the positive side, a lot of sound economic theory is presented in a very understandable way. You don't have to believe all 100 % of the soapbox comments to learn a lot from this book. This book met my goal of learning more about macro economics. Thus I recommend this book.
Great read of information pertaining to the mess we are in and why. The sad part is most of us have helped make this happen. A side-note, there was no talk of facism, which is similar to communism, state control, but allows a level of ownership. I had read an article back in the 80’s that predicted the future would be facism.
Okay I will admit I don’t remember most of what I read and I didn’t read this book word to word. Having done MBA a few years ago this book felt like course work.
The book talks about different concepts of economics from micro to macro. There are way too many chapters about different countries economies.
If you are a student this book can be used as an outside source material to help you write papers I feel. Though I am not sure about the authors own perspective and how much that will affect your study.
So the conclusion is that this is an academic book and no way a light read unless you are Paris from Gilmore Girls
