Liam tried redemption … it didn’t stick, so he went back to the thing he knows best - the con. But being the bad guy isn’t as easy as it used to be, and when Liam tries to soothe his conscience by saving innocent lives, he almost loses his own and is forced to face a past he swore he had left behind. Emily's move to the city felt like a dream come true, until a bad day ends in a nightmare, and she throws her future away to hide in the small town she grew up in. Then Liam comes to town and she discovers that she's not as safe as she thought she was, and they both find that secrets don't stay buried. Now, if Emily and Liam can't find a way to trust each other, neither one of them will get the happy ending they are hoping for.

WOW!! This book is a winner! Emily and Liam's story is a sweet romance that is full of action, drama and suspense. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Christian Romantic Suspense. I loved it!

Book 2 better than Book 1

I was not crazy about book one because the characters did not draw me into their lives. Book 2 is much better with interesting plots, twists, and I cared about Liam and Emily.

What are you supposed to do when you’ve been through a horrifying experience you can’t share with anyone. If you gave into the temptation to burden someone else with the knowledge of what really happened, it would not only make you completely relive it again, but would also shock and irreparably damage whomever you told. At least that’s what you’ve been telling yourself.

Shawna Coleing tells a page-turning story of people who are destined to cross one another’s path. They have life lessons to learn that not only stretch them, but open their eyes to different ways to approach life.

Emily has moved back to her hometown after her mother’s passing under the guise of helping her father. Liam arrives in the same small town in upstate NY to search for a family heirloom that holds the key to his niece’s safety.

Liam has lived on the wrong side of the law most of his life and in his recent past has been trying to make up for it. The problem is the past always catches up and the only true way for him to find peace is to realize that he has to let go of his perception of control of his life.

Book Quote: He focused all his energy on speaking the words he never thought he’d be brave enough to say. “Kyle may be a terrible person, but I’m the one who made him that way.”

There are several twists that keep this story moving and interesting. This is the second book in Shawna’s Shadow Alliance series. Each book is a standalone, but the characters play roles throughout the series. Pick up all four books - you won’t be disappointed.

I just recently discovered this author and I have read 3 books already because I enjoy and appreciate her writing. I would rather read Christian books but, unfortunately, too few writers can make their characters seem like real people. Ms. Coleing’s characters are definitely not sugary, overly virtuous individuals who struggle with minor tragedies. I like how her characters are bad, fallen individuals who desperately need redemption and restoration only a loving and all powerful God can accomplish — even through the most unlikely circumstances. I highly recommend her books.

An intense, suspenseful thriller involving human trafficking, murder, and violence. I did not care for Shadow Line (Book #2) as much as I did the first book in this series (Shadow Game). I found it too dark and gritty for my liking, although there were a few redeeming thoughts with a Christian perspective. Not sure if I'd read it again.

I enjoyed getting acquainted with this romantic suspense series. The characters are well developed and the suspense was great. I was thankful also for the quick read. I am on vacation and able to read several of Shawna's books.

excellent read!

I finished it in one day! I was inspired by the characters bravery. Sometimes the faith required in a situation requires stepping out of your comfort zone and into faith in Jesus!

Another good book

This was a quick read. I liked the way it was a separate story from the first book but in the end the first book played a role. Ready to move on to the next one. Oh and great bible verses in this one. Was a little deeper then the first book in this series too.

second in the series

Looking forward to reading the entire series. I think I like Liam as much or more than Oliver, not to mention the strong women and the unique story lines and the mighty, mighty truths of God flowing throughout.

Good read.

Intrigue & romance, with a dose of reality but most importantly characters with a real faith that sometimes falters in the face of the worlds depravity. Well written.

Shawna is developing great characters that I love to hate AND some i would like to have as friends. Their trouble keeps me reading...how will she get them out of this?! Then there is the chemistry and that is hard to resist!
