Thank you, @ulyssespress, for the finished copy of the Catan cookbook.
My husband loves board games and has a monthly game night with friends, so when I saw there was a cookbook coming out dedicated to the game Catan, I had to check it out!
My son has recently gotten into the kids' version, Catan Jr. He has enjoyed looking through the cookbook and keeps moving it to the bookshelf in his room. 😆
Fans of Catan, you need this cookbook! It is much more comprehensive than other themed cookbooks I’ve seen. There are over 75 recipes ranging from appetizers, snacks, and finger foods to main dishes, desserts, and drinks. The categories and recipes all have fun Catan-related names. There are designations for dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, vegetarian, vegan, and low-fat recipes, with some recipes specifying how to modify the recipe to cater to vegetarian diets.
The recipes are realistic, and with the wide variety, there’s something for everyone. All of the ingredients can be found at your local grocery store and can be prepared with standard kitchen equipment. The recipes are clearly laid out with stunning images. And EVERY recipe includes a photo. My pet peeve is when cookbooks don’t have an image of all the recipes. It never fails that the recipes I’m most interested in are the ones without pictures. But that’s not the case with Catan!
The recipe index at the back of the book and the fun Catan facts spread throughout are unique little additions that make Catan the perfect themed cookbook.

Catan, one of the most well-known games, has turned their board game into inspired recipes that pair well with the game. You can cook these right before you play Catan. I've never played the game, but these recipes sound great. The book peaked my interest, and I want to play the game now.
pg. 18 is the seven layer dip. It looks easy to make, so I'll have to try this recipe out.
pg. 61 is the green garden smoothie. Add in lime and OJ juice and it makes the smoothie a lot better.
pg. 82 is the summer salad. A good way to use avocados and fruit together.
pg. 128 is harvest rolls. Looks like we're cooking them from scratch. Yum.
pg. 144 is the honey cake. The ingredients aren't a lot, and I might have to make this one day.
This is a great cookbook. Some great recipes in here that I have to try.

Sometimes movie/show-inspired cookbooks are not really about the food. In this full-colour book, the food is sounds and looks (thankfully almost all recipes have photos) delicious. I am looking forward to trying enough recipes that the cookbook is a keeper. Catan trivia, a variety of different dietary considerations (vegan, gluten free, etc.) as well as a variety of different recipes. It's a fun book.
