Abby Devereaux has everything she could ask for - a successful business, a loving family, a roof over her head, and loyal friends.
When she meets Ben Sheridan, she thought her life had come full circle - that is until she finds out that Ben is actually dating her younger, materialistic sister, Lucy. Abby is crushed, and what's worse is that she's stuck in the same house with him for the holidays.
When Abby gets the idea to invite Ben's friend, Dean, to join the festivities, she finds it to be the perfect revenge. As the days press on to Christmas, tension is high and Abby does her best to hide her true emotions, as hard as that may be for her. This wasn't her idea of a homecoming...but maybe a Christmas miracle was in the works that she didn't intend on.
I'm from a small town in New England and I absolutely love living here. I have the best of all seasons, but I must say Autumn is the best. I have a large supportive family and an even bigger group of supportive friends. I don't know where I would be without any of them. Everyone plays a certqin role in my writing. I started writing at a very young age, even younger than I remember (so my parent tells me). I started with fan fiction of the boy bands I loved and finally moved on to topics that are more realistic. I've always been a believer in the paranormal and supernatural, thus began my writings in the world of witches, werewolves, shapeshifters, other supernatural creatures, and of course, vampires. I dabble in different genres, but mostly I feel more comfortable writing in Romance and Supernatural.
OMG!! I just finished this fantastic book. Amie makes you laugh, cry, oooh and ahh throughout this book. You will even want to punch in a face or two in as well. lol Yuletide Mishaps makes you believe that the magic of Christmas is truly at work in your life, whether it feels like it or not. I will not spoil this book with details, but when families get together for the holidays, strange things can and will happen. Abby and Ben's love will even melt the Grinchiest heart, I know it made my heart grow a few sizes.
A fantastic winter read! I really liked this book. The first time I read it I couldn't put it down! I am a holiday romance buff... This was one of those books that intermittedly made you laugh, smile, get angry, and cry. A.L. Flagg is very descriptive and is good at character development. I really wanted to punch Lucy, as well as Abby a few times for just being too good. lol Looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book was filled with humor, romance, and some dysfunctional family relationships. I enjoyed the journey all of the characters took throughout the story, and the happy ending had by all. It was a perfect Christmas/winter read for the romantic at heart.
"Yuletide Mishaps" is a cute, intelligent, comedy romance that keeps you guessing with its twists and turns! It's funny, refreshing, and a smart romance, not only for the holidays, but for any day! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a great romantic read today! I give it 5 stars!
I very much enjoyed this book. 2 sisters fall for the same guy, Ben a vet who is casually dating one sister when he walks into the other's restaurant, unbeknown Abby is Lucy's sister. There's an instant attraction between Abby and Ben and things develop pretty quickly between them. The sisters are spending Christmas together, with their family, but which sister will Ben turn up with? And who will he end up with?
Story Line: Abby is a business owner of a small but successful diner. When two random customers, Ben and Dean, come to lunch Abby takes the table. It is almost instantly that Abby and Ben find the other attractive. After a run in with the grocery store Abby agrees to go on a date with Ben. The date goes wonderful. Now it’s Friday and Abby goes to meet her family and sister Lucy at the family home for Christmas. Lucy brings a mystery guy with her who happens to be Ben. Read the book to find out how Christmas and the time after Christmas go.
Characters: Abby, Lucy, Ben, Dean, David, Nathan, Lauren, Chely, Brad, Jane, Jacob, Bella and the rest of her family.
My Favorite Character: Abby and David. I love strong women characters that take their life in their own hands. Abby does this by working hard and giving to others. Not only does she run her own business but she also gives to many people that are less fortunate then she is. I also love David because he is truly a best friend. Always there with good advice and able to talk sense into you when you are in upsetting situations, everyone needs a friend like David.
My Favorite Part: At dinner when Abby says she wants to open a shelter and his sister Lucy looks down at the idea because homeless people don’t need the help. Abby goes off on her sister along with a few other people at dinner (who also go off on Lucy). I love watching people stand up for their beliefs and defending those who can’t defend themselves.
Full Concept: Each page draws you more and more into the holiday mishaps of the family learning more about each character and their views and stances in life, questioning why and more. I couldn’t stop reading and smiling. I love how upbeat and even in times of disagreement how humorous this story is.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars. Truly an unfolding love story that will touch your heart and make you smile all while mentally beating up each character for how they deal with the situation and the stupid choices they make or things they say.
The title of this book definitely fits with the story. Mishaps is only the tip of the iceberg. Abby owns a cafe in town, Ben has a veterinarian business in town. See where I'm going with this? Yes, boy walk into girls place for lunch, instant attraction, they go on a date, classic romance builds and they can't fight off their feelings and one thing leads to another... Classic story. That is until Abby goes home for Christmas to spend with the family, her flighty, man eating flavor of the month, sister Lucy brings a date home to meet family. Guess who the man is?
As soon as I started reading this book right down to finishing it. I couldn't help but think it sounds like a feel good holiday Christmas movie you would find on the lifetime channel. It is not a bad thing at all, just a story that you know right away what to expect from one moment to the next and how the story would end. For me, it was pretty predictable all the way through the book. You had romance, drama, deceit, family, holidays and more drama! Everything was answered, nothing was hanging in the balance. The story ended as it should. I was left with a warm fuzzy feeling when I was done reading. It would make a good movie. It is a great romantic read for any age, even young adults. Superb writing by A. L. Flagg :)
This was a really wonderful story, of Abby and Ben, two people that found a conection, overcame some difficult - and sometimes humorous - obstacles on their path to love. They are both good characters, and I mean good in the sense that they are kind and decent people. I liked reading about their relationship and watching it develop. It was a beautiful story, well written and I thoroughly enjoyed every page! Five stars, recommended for any time you need a break to relax and involve yourself in a real romance!
I'm afraid my language would taint this lovely holiday romance. It is cute, up beat, and annoying at the right parts. I hate Abby's sister, but then again, some of the times, I hate Abby. I love Ben, though. I like the idea of this story and how everything came together in the end. I couldn't imagine my sister doing what she did and vice versa... It was funny, cute, and sweet. Great first book, looking forward to others.
I read this great story in a few hours. I absolutely loved it. The characters are lovely and complex. I felt like they were my friends! The story is definitely true to life. It's very well written. It's a great story for anytime, not just holiday season. This is a wonderful romantic story, read it now.
