Lachlan in a Kilt

Rate this book
Lachlan MacTaggart is hot, Scottish, and dangerous — to a woman's heart.

I'm done with love. My ex-wife made sure of that. When my American friend offers to swap houses with me for a month, I can't say no. Chicago sounds like the perfect place for a holiday, until I find out there's a sexy American lass living next door.

Erica Teague is bonnie, clever, and as wounded as I am. But I won't ask her why. All I need is Erica in my bed for four weeks, no strings, just a summer fling. We won't talk about our pasts, our lives, or anything except sex.

That's the plan. But the woman who's too young for me is determined to crawl under my skin and expose everything.

Lachlan in a Kilt is the first book in The Ballachulish Trilogy, a brand-new series based on the first three books in the bestselling Hot Scots series, reborn and retold from the heroes' perspectives.

Nope

DNF 20%, I’m rating it anyway, y’all can fight me on it in the yard later, I’m fired up enough that I don’t think you will land any punches *windmilling arms*.

Holy crap this was bad. I had to check when this was written as there was so much casual misogyny and slut shaming I figured pre-2015, but gah 2021. But the ‘not like other girls’ or ‘Madonna/whore’ narrative wasn’t even the worst of it; this was just so cheesy. I think it was trying to be swoony and hot but fuck-me I wanted to die a little inside as I listened to this terrible thing. If there had been any story in between all the innuendo and sexual inner monologues I might have been able to stand it, but it was all just eye-brow waggingly bad.

John Hartley, your voice is a dream and in a Scottish accent it’s *chef’s kiss* but not even you could get me to continue with this piece of garbage. Oh and great news: apparently the entire story can be read again from the heroine’s perspective in a different book, cause the world needed that. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I blame E.L. James for that nonsense.

Also the word scunner was used over 13 times in the first two chapters: yes author, we get that you learned some Scottish slang, you don’t need to beat us over the head with it. 😵‍💫

Notable quotes:
‘raging erection’ 🤣
‘her breasts heave as she pulls me closer’ 🤪
‘His tongue coiled around hers’ ‘he coiled his tongue with hers’ ‘their tongues coiled together’
holy shit, do they have snakes living in their mouths?! 🐍
‘I like the way you enjoy whiskey, it makes me think about what you would be like when I take your body’ 🧀 🧀 🧀 why is she drinking whiskey like she’s having an orgasm? Ffs kill me. 😵‍💫 🔫

(audiobook+ebook) I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed. I’m not sure this book is even half entertaining without reading first Dangerous in a kilt, the same story from Erica’s point of view. Since the author had to follow the same plot–and scenes and dialogues–but write what went through Lachlan’s head, she had to make sense of his actions, and it didn’t work. Oftentimes, it went down to ‘he didn’t know why he did X’ which isn’t a good way to explain a character’s motivations.

It was still interesting to read a romance solely from the male character’s point of view. Not sure the concept was used to its full potential though. There were some purely alpha male thoughts, but not enough to justify a whole book. There were barely any new scene–while we could have had a lot of behind the scenes from Dangerous in a kilt, some of them were rushed.

As for the sexy times, it was nice to read them from Lachlan’s point of view. It’s always one of the strongest elements in this author’s books, and this one doesn’t depart from the rule. It IS sexy.

Basically, a good idea but poorly done.

Quickie

- Series: The Ballachulish trilogy #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #billionaire romance #no-strings-attached #hot man in a kilt #age gap
- Triggers: not exactly cheating but still it is technically
- Main couple: Erica Teague & Lachlan MacTaggart
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + still incredibly hot
- – couldn’t get behind Lachlan’s thoughts, it’s like he doesn’t know how his brain works

EDIT: I am still a bit disappointed by this book. I didn’t like how Lachlan acted most of the time and didn’t understand him. But the audio is definitely an improvement. The narrator, by giving a voice to Lachlan, also gives him a mood–broody and lost, in denial. That made him much more compelling.

Told from Lachlan's POV, the story of meeting a gorgeous American woman, Erica, and having a fling turned more eventually, is made even hotter with all his thoughts. When I first read the original story told from Erica's POV, I really wanted to know Lachlan's thoughts. So it was a treat to get exactly that - the heroe's POV, and it's fun. Definitely sexy, and as sweet and entertaining as the same story through Erica's eyes.

Lachlan was put off of love and relationships by an ex before he met Erica, so a fling with her seemed to be right up his alley. He wasn't expecting to develop such strong feelings, to give his heart away to her, but it was so obvious to me that he was falling hard, even if he tried to deny it. But reading as he fell even while denying it was truly fun, seriously sexy, and made me long for my own hot Scot!

I don't get many chances to read all male POV books, especially with a swoony accent. Lachlan is all that and a bag of chips, especially in his kilt.

Lachlan MacTaggart is visiting America and house swapping with a friend when he sees the bonnie lass next door.  Erica Teague enchants him from day one, but he's only in America for holiday for a month and definitely not looking for a long term relationship, but when he meets Erica at a club he decides to approach her and at least try a short term engagement. Setting up boundaries, rules, and knowing that he is leaving should help any long term feelings, but things get a bit more complicated as time moves forward.

Told completely from Lachlan's POV, I loved all of the brogue, Scottish slang, and Gaelic terms that he continually used. I'm a huge sucker for an accent, so I adore reading them. I especially appreciate when the translation or definition is closely provided since I'm also a huge fan of learning as well. Lachlan is quite the sexy Scot, but he's damaged by his past relationships, hence why he's not looking for anything long term even if he was staying long term. He's a bit older than Erica, so he takes that into account, but it doesn't hold him back in the end from actually getting what he wants, into her knickers.

There is an ever present mystery surrounding Erica, but a large part is due to this book being told from Lachlan's POV. Most of the plot is centered around the good times in the bedroom and not necessarily the actual bedroom times itself. Allow me to clarify...remember this book is strictly told from a male POV and what do men think about 95% of the time...I'm sure you can guess. The other 5% Lachlan basically is living his life; taking phone calls, handling business or just day to day things. His mind is truly occupied with the female form; how to please it, where to please it, what to do with it... you get the idea.

This is my first book by Anna Durand and I truly loved her walk with a Scotsman. Overall 4.5 stars

I hope that you are ready for a stoic, grumpy, sexy highlander because Lachlan and his kilt has just landed in America and is Erica's new neighbor. Lachlan may be just coming off a divorce and has sworn off women but his new neighbor has him more than intrigued. So imagine his surprise when he meets her at the local bar and the chemistry is off the charts. An agreement is discussed. One month no strings just companionship and sizzling hot sex. Erica is skeptical but soon can not resist. It soon becomes apparent that they both have been keeping secrets and it could end their relationship before it even starts.

In the mood for a swoony, sizzling hot, gruffy Highlander? Look no further than Lachlan MacTaggart. This book is told solely from his POV and I loved that. It’s rare when we have a male only POV in a romance book.

Staying the month in Chicago at a friend’s house, Lachlan is at a local bar when he sees his neighbor, Erica. He had noticed her that morning but didn’t approach her. Unable to stay away, he goes up to her. Lachlan isn’t looking for anything serious since he’s newly divorced. The next day he proposes that they send the month together, just an American fling. Unable to say no to his Scottish charms, Erica agrees. We’re off on a wild ride of two people finding each other when they needed it the most.

Lachlan is a guarded soul and with good reason. But once he opened up, he gave big. He loved big. Once he was unguarded, he wore his heart on his kilt. Erica was going through so much when Lachlan stumbled into her life. How she was able to get past her past is admirable. The two are sizzling hot together.

Lachlan in a Kilt is a retelling of Dangerous in a Kilt. That was from Erica’s POV and I loved that we got see all the events from Lachlan’s eyes. I can’t wait for the next two books. The MacTaggart brothers are Scottish perfection.

This is a fun “fling to more” story between a visiting Scot and the girl next door. Secrets abound in this story! No one wants a real relationship as both of their current situations favor a temporary physical relationship.

And speaking of their physical relationship … wow. There are a lot of very explicit sex scenes. I think the first third of the book was a master class in seduction. Scorching!!

This is the Lachlan’s POV to Durand’s Dangerous in Kilt and it might be more meaningful to someone who has read Erica’s story first. Because I didn’t really connect with them as a couple outside of the bedroom and I don’t know if that’s because guys think a lot about sex or not.

I loved all the fun Gaelic phrases and how Lachlan really did try to be a gentleman even if they were only supposed to be a quick fling. The ending and the epilogue were both so sweet!

I received an advance reader copy of this book from Grey’s Promotion and these are my honest opinions.

Loved this book! There is nothing better than a good-looking Scot in a kilt with an accent and a beautiful woman with a secret. Lachlan's in Chicago staying in his friend's home for a month and next door is the exquisite Erica. Lachlan's thinking about a month of no commitments with the beautiful neighbor, only some hot sex. This is a fun, easy read that will capture you immediately. I couldn't stop reading once I started. Especially since I wanted to find out what Erica is hiding. Can't wait to read more by this author.

"Lachlan in a Kilt" by Anna Durand is a male-POV retelling of Durand's earlier novel "Dangerous in a Kilt," which was narrated entirely from the female POV. "Lachlan" works as a standalone for readers (like me) who haven't read the original story, but IMO it's not nearly as entertaining without knowing the other side of the story first. (More on that in a bit.)

In need of a change of scenery to recover after his recent divorce, Highlander Lachlan MacTaggart arranges a month-long house swap with a friend in Chicago. He sees his temporary next-door neighbor, Erica Teague, outside tending her roses shortly after his arrival and is immediately smitten. That same night, Lachlan and Erica run into each other at an underground dance club, where she mistakes him for her blind date, drunkenly kisses him, and then runs away. Lachlan pays her a visit the following day to clear up the mistaken identity and manages to rescue Erica from an unpleasant run-in with her ex at the same time. Unable to stop thinking about his lovely new neighbor, Lachlan impulsively proposes a no-strings attached fling for the duration of his stay. It's supposed to be a purely physical arrangement, avoiding any emotional ties and discussion of their personal lives, but before long Lachlan finds himself wanting to break all of his self-imposed rules. He can't help wanting to know more about the secrets Erica is keeping and trying to find ways to make her smile.

I had mixed feelings about this book. On the positive side, it was well-written, there were plenty of steamy scenes, and the ending was very sweet. However, I'm not generally a fan of relationships based on insta-lust, and this story didn't do anything to change my mind. Because the story was only narrated from Lachlan's POV and they were both keeping so many secrets from each other, it was difficult for me to connect with them as a couple. In addition, the constant focus on their physical relationship for the first half of the book didn't do much to advance the plot, and frankly, I got pretty bored and almost DNF'd the book a few times. It started to get better about halfway through when it became clear that Erica's secrets were going to be a big deal, but it was incredibly frustrating waiting for them to finally be revealed. When I did learn what they were, it was even more frustrating; IMO, her side of the story was much more interesting than anything Lachlan had going on. I kind of wish I had skipped this book and just read the original instead since most of Erica's issues were resolved while she and Lachlan were apart, so the details were not included in this story.

Overall, "Lachlan in a Kilt" was not a terrible book, but unfortunately, I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. Readers who previously enjoyed the original story, or those who are fans of stories in which steam is the main driver of the plot, may enjoy it, however.

Lachlan in a Kilt
The Ballachulish Trilogy, Book 1
By: Anna Durand
Narrated by: John Hartley

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me in right from the start, grabbed my attention and held it captive all the way to the end. This is Erica Teague and Lachlan MacTaggart’s story, Erica’s POV was told in “Dangerous in a Kilt”, this book is told entirely Lachlan’s POV. There is always two sides to a story, Anna Durand brings you Lachlan’s side, Lachlan is spending a month in America, he traded his flat for his friend’s home who is honeymooning in Scotland. Lachlan next door neighbor captured his attention the moment he laid eyes on her, Gil warned him to stay away from her so he is aware she is not a one night stand type of gal. He is in process of a nasty divorce or rather divorcing his nasty ex. She left a bad taste in his mouth and is not looking to get involved in another relationship. He winds up going out the first night in town after seeing one of the clubs advertising it was Midsummer Kilt Night, he could not resist the step into fantasy world for one night only. It turns out to be a fantasy when he sees who is there, none other than Erica. Erica has a lot going on and she partying hard that night even got to meet a kilt wearing Scot but is not one to handle liquor and it catches up, Lachlan loses his chance with her. Little does she know it won’t be the last time she sees him, at first she thinks he is stalking her, LOL, but the two wind up hitting it off and Lachlan convinces her to have a month long casual fling with him. But not developing feelings is not so easy when the chemistry is that strong. I have not had the pleasure to enjoy “Dangerous in a Kilt” but that did not hinder my enjoyment of this book at all. This is a hot romance novel, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, some great humor and witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions as well as a bit of mystery behind what was going on in Erica’s life, it keeps you wondering until it is revealed. Anna Durand, thank you for another greatly entertaining novel and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, John Hartley is a talented narrator and voice artist. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, taking each role and making it his own and believable in every role he played. His Scottish accent is absolutely brilliant, he handles the dialogue with ease and switches roles flawlessly. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen.

***Audiobook Review/Advance Listener Copy***

If you have already read/listened to the McTaggert Brother´s series, then you are familiar with their stories. I had not met these Hot Scots yet, so I was going in blind, a whole new experience for me in Lachlan´s POV which is brilliantly told by John Hartley.

Lachlan in a Kilt is the first book of the new Ballachulish Trilogy.

After an innocent drunken kiss that caught Lachlan McTaggert by surprise, he makes Erica Teague a sizzling offer, a one-month fling with no strings attached but Erica is not so convinced she wants to be the “Wam Bam Thank You Mam” kinda woman and is reluctant at first but this gruffy highlander is persistent in his ways to woe her. Well, who can resist a man in a kilt right?

Their brief fling gives very hot and cold vibes, both getting frustrated with one another over certain reactions or feelings by trying not to get into more personal details about themselves to avoid making more of it than it is or should be. It seems the only thing they can get totally lost in and block reality is sex, sparks are certainly flying there.

There are secrets between them, and both are dealing with the aftermaths of their past relationships. Lachlan swore to himself to never let a woman ever bind herself to him again and Erica is seemingly through with men using her! It was only supposed to be a one-month indulgence but they cannea deny the growing attraction between them. Will they become a hot mess, or can they convince each other’s broken hearts to try again?

Anna Durand draws you in again with great visuals and detailed descriptions of the characters, areas, situations, and acts, especially their love making. It´s very erotic, sensual, suggestive, and sexy hot!

Aye, let us talk about John Hartley talking Scottish to listeners for over 10hrs, Oh My! I have listened to him before, but this was a different experience. He has a nice growly whispery tone to it, which was hot music to my ears. I enjoyed listening to him telling the story in his POV, especially with that Scottish accent! So good, one hot treat indeed!

Very unique in many ways. Lachlan is from Scotland and taking a month out of his life to regroup after a difficult divorce. He has house swapped with friends who live in Chicago. While there, he comes upon his neighbor, Erica, and embarks on a casual fling with her. The rules are that their fling will never evolve into more and to help with that plan they aren't to discuss anything personal. Lachlan finds himself stymied by his own plans when he is intrigued by Erica and wants to know more, but can't without breaking those rules.

This was very different than many other books I've read. It's written entirely from the Lachlan's point of view, and I loved all the Scottish expressions in this book. I've read books with Scots before, but this book really made a point of using words and language in a way I hadn't seen done before.

However, there were pieces of this that I struggled with, and probably why I sometimes prefer to not get my Heroes point of view. I prefer a more alpha male at times in my romance, and had this not been in his pov he might have come across this way, but getting his pov and having him constantly switch between feeling he is falling for Erica or in love with her to the next minute deciding it's just a fling made it apparent he didn't know his own mind and highlighted his weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Sometimes I like seeing that in my heroes, but at times it makes them less appealing, and in that way this just didn't really work for me. I also felt like he constantly contradicted himself. Deciding nothing personal, and it's just a casual fling, but then having breakfast together every single day and making sure to say goodnight in person every single night sort of defeated that purpose. Despite this, it was a fun read and I very much enjoyed reading about a Scottish hero!

Lachlan in a Kilt
The Ballachulish Trilogy, Book 1
By: Anna Durand
Narrated by: John Hartley

I do love a Scottish brogue and this book brings all the feels with a fabulous narrator. Falling into the story was easy! Lachlan, burned in the past is not looking for a relationship. When he meets Erica and is able to have a one night stand, he is more than happy to enjoy the moment. Erica is tired of men and their lack of commitment. Setting up the rules early with Lachlan seems to be the smart way to go. But we all know how things change and this doesn't always work! Feelings get in the way! The complement book to Dangerous in Kilts, this book is told from Lachlan's point of view and gives us all the things we wonder about going through the male's mind! What will these two do when they realize there are feelings? When their pasts come back to haunt them, will their blooming relationship survive? Secrets and sensuality are fast and furious in this first book of the Ballachulish Trilogy.

John Hartley is fantastic. It's my first audio listen by him, and he gives us that Scottish accent flawlessly. Changing from male to female voices, emulating emotion and all around giving us a performance that is a movie in our minds, this book is sure to please!

Lachlan in a Kilt is Book 1 in ‘The Ballachulish Trilogy’. If you’ve read “Dangerous in a Kilt” then you’ll recognize the story, because this is the same one but told entirely from the male POV.

While visiting the United States and exchanging homes for a month with his friend, Lachlan quickly becomes intrigued by Erica, the beautiful woman next door. He’s not in a situation to be looking for a new relationship and neither is she. It also becomes apparent that she is hiding some things, but it doesn’t matter much because there won’t be anything serious between them. Because the story is told from Lachlan’s perspective there’s considerable focus on anything and everything to do with his sexual interest in Erica, plus his concern about being older than her, and some focus on the reasons he’s sure he doesn’t want a relationship.

I liked the ending, although Lachlan’s change of heart and the flurry of activity resulting from it seemed a bit abrupt. Overall, this is an entertaining and very steamy story with likeable characters and interesting secondary characters including Lachlan’s brothers and Erica’s parents.

Lachlan in a Kilt was a pretty decent story. I will say that it seemed a bit heavier on the steamy scenes than the story, but hey every once in a while those types of books can be appreciated. Now that's not to say that there wasn't a story going on, because there was. Erica clearly had things she was going through with Presley (her ex), and Lachlan was dealing with a divorce that kept stalling. Both of them needed to get through that, but it was proving that they both needed some assistance. I loved the bits of Gaelic that were thrown in throughout the story. I loved how Rory was helping Lachlan not only with his divorce, but with Erica's issues, and eventually on winning Erica back. The point of conflict was good, and I'm glad that it wasn't handled quickly. Sometimes it seems that the hero or heroine forgive too quickly, and things are just glossed over. That wasn't the case in this book. So I appreciated that. The reunion was wonderful and brought us back full circle. And can I just say, I loved Erica's dog. I have a thing for Goldens and oh this pooch! Such a good boy. After finishing Lachlan in a Kilt, I am now eagerly anticipating Aiden's story. Is it July 27 yet? I can't wait to see all that he goes through on his journey towards an HEA.

Seriously, someone needs to tell Lachlan he's an idiot. He wants a quick 4-week fling with no feelings (me thinks he doth protest too much!) and then later cannot figure out why Erica is acting the way she is -- no really, it becomes painfully obvious why she's acting certain ways (you don't need to be a genius) but he just cannot figure it out. But, why do I forgive Lachlan for being a huge highlander dork... the steamy sex scenes. Yeah. I forgive him because he knows how to please a woman.

I cannot say that this is all entirely believable but honestly, are any romance novels? Doesn't matter because again, I was here for the sex scenes and enjoyed them. Lachlan is also somewhat dumb when it comes to figuring women and communication out, but again, a hottie in a kilt.

Note: this is the second book in a series? Had no idea as it was listed as a first book when I got it from BookBub (apparently, it is the male POV retelling of the first book, which was Erica's POV). I mean... really, I dislike when authors do this, but I guess I'll survive!

I'm going to rate Lachlan in a Kilt at 4 stars for now because I do think that maybe just maybe, if I go back & read Dangerous in a Kilt since it's from our heroine's POV. And then I'll go back & read this one right after so I can see the whole picture since Lachlan is a man who thinks about sexy times a lot like most men do LOL! I will say that with his POV the sexy times were off the charts hot, but I'm still not sure how I feel about him fully other than he's sexy so I reserve the right to change my mind in the future. I really do like Anna Durand's mouthwatering Scots as there's not much sexier than a man in a kilt in my opinion. Anyway, I'm not going to say anymore because I don't want to take away anyone else's opinion about it as I need to read a bit more about these two! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

So I didn't know this was just Lachlan's POV book. I just think that if the author's going to end up writing both MCs' POv, she could have written it in the original book and have dual POVs. That would have made more sense. Alas, since I have yet to read the Hot Scots series, I guess this is a way to read their story even if it's from Lachlan's POV. I still enjoyed their story. It was kind of sweet and a little bit angsty.

Both Lachlan and Erice are in no situation for a relationship and he's only in Chicago for the summer. He proposes a summer fling with strict rules not to get personal. Lachlan really did try to be a gentleman but I don't think it was working if it's only supposed to be a fling. One of them is bound to fall for the other.

Lachlan in a Kilt is book 1 in The Ballachulish Trilogy by Anna Durand. This audiobook is narrated by John Hartley. The book was told entirely from the Lachlan's POV, and I really enjoyed getting to know what everything Lachlan was thinking about his journey to an HEA with Erica. There is a bit of an age gap between these characters, and a sweet surprise. I loved every bit of how an innocent fun, fling turns into a passionate love story. John Hartley's narration is amazing and spot on! I loved how he portrayed all of Lachlan's confidence but also his insecurities about love and relationships. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to more in the series from the hero's POV.

This is the first book in the Ballachulish Series. I have listened to the original story, Dangerous in a Kilt, in the Hot Scots Series, and this story retelling from the Lachlan's POV, is great! Erica and Lachlan's story is sweet, fun, and sexy, filled with secrets, a little suspense, and twists and turns. They are two opposite characters. Erica is strong, and independent. Lachlan is such a great and handsome character, sexy, and protective. Because of his past, he has a problem with commitment. I enjoyed it. John Hartley did a great job with the narration. He has a beautiful Scottish accent, and he is perfect as Lachlan. Looking forward to listen to Wicked in a Kilt, the second book in the Series.

From the Male Perspective Only

This story is told completely by Lachlan’s point of view, which a rare occurrence for a romance book. But that’s because Erica told the story from her point of view previously in “Dangerous in a Kilt”. So why should you read Lachlan’s point of view? You get to see Lachlan fall HARD for Erica, he has some funny internal conversations with himself/his thoughts, his Scottish brogue is very sexy, he is guarded yet vulnerable, and it’s an amazing story of finding true love.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily giving an honest review

I wasn't very happy with Lachlan's single-mindedness through the beginning of the book, I did eventually change my mind on how I felt about his actions. I feel like I should have read Dangerous in a Kilt to get the full circle relationship with Erica and Lachlan and why she fell for him so hard. Honestly, there were times (aside from him being so hot) that I was trying to understand why she even liked him in the first place.
All that being said, I did enjoy this book very much even if I wasn't happy with Lachlan at times. I mean, who doesn't love a good hot Scot?
John Hartley is fairly new to me as a narrator and he did a really great job voicing Lachlan and Erica.

This is a good story. These two want only one thing from each other…a4 week affair. It morphs into something that one of them wants more from. Its a pretty basic story of a romance between these two. One thing that makes this different is that its told from the male POV. Another is that Erica has a troubled past that is not normal. Lachlan is having ex-wife problems and a fear of commitment…again. I loved the ending and all the similarities to the beginning if their relationship. Then this is the start of the McTaggart matchmaking..

I did listen to this on audio. John Hartley did an amazing job. I enjoyed listening to his accent.

This is the 1st on a new trilogy and is Lachlan and Erica’s story. Lachlan is a Scot who agrees to a house swap in America with a friend for 1-month, and when he spots Erica his short term neighbor there is an instant attraction. Neither of them is looking for any long term relationship as they have both been burnt in the past, and the chemistry between them is sizzling and undeniable. This is a good story which is fun and with secrets, which all leads to an entertaining read. I look forward to reading the next book in this trilogy, and I recommend this authors’ work.

There is just something about a man in a kilt... Lachlan's previous relationship has left him soured on long term engagements. While in the US for only a short time, his interest is piqued by the female next door. But will the rules and boundaries he proposes be of interest to Erica? Will his Scottish charm lead her into a relationship that is destined for only a short time? Will her own past cause their happiness to become more complicated than expected?

This is told from Lachlan's POV there is one that is told from Erica's and I didn't read that one but this one was good. I love different POV's and this didn't disappoint. Lachlan came to America to get a break from things, but he never expected to meet Erica and have sparks fly. Erica is just trying to get through things and when she meets the sexy neighbor. These two will have their own bit of fun, drama, lust, and love, but can they have it all. Or is it just a little fling?

This is the exact same story as Dangerous in a Kilt, only the heroes PoV instead of the heroine in the original. It can be read as a standalone book.

While I like this couple, it was not as exciting when you know all the words they say to each other and the things they do. Lachlan spent most of his mental time thinking he was too old for the heroine or that he didn't want a relationship, no matter what, due to his recent divorce.

This enjoyable story is about Lachlan MacTaggart who traded houses with his friend Gil Friedman and gets involved with his next-door neighbor Erica Teague. Halfway thru this story it felt familiar until I remembered I'd read "Dangerous in a Kilt". This story is told by Lachlan's point of view and experiences. The characters are likable and had chemistry and the story was engaging in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

Dangerous in a Kilt but from Lachlan's point of view!

A one-month relationship, that's it, or is it?

So I knew what would happen, having read Dangerous; but it was really cool to read it from a male POV!

I do love the emotional journey that Ms. Durand takes her readers!

Can't see what she's up to next!
