The ultimate guide to the critically acclaimed game NieR Replicant , this hardcover tome is packed with art, strategy, information, and lore!
Dive into the strange and fascinating world of NieR Replicant with this comprehensive guide to the game’s characters, weapons, maps, and more. Hundreds of full-color pages offer illustrations and key concepts, story exploration and world lore, gameplay strategies, ending guides, and concept art. Grimoire NieR also includes interviews with the game’s lead developers, as well as bonus short stories and volume-exclusive extras.
My NieR hyperfixation is driving me crazy so of course I had to start this year with a book related to it. I mainly picked it up for the short stories, but all other segments were surprisingly entertaining as well as informative about the production, art direction and writing.
NieR Replicant is VERY heavy in terms of lore, handling it all in a single game would be way too overwhelming. Hence, even though it’s my favorite game story wise, it felt incomplete. Every open question I had was satisfyingly answered by this book and man I feel like I have studied the NieR lore better than anything in school.
Some stories gave us a deeper insight into the world and their characters, some made us see things from entirely new perspectives (like young NieR’s heart wrenching reason for his hairstyle).
If you played the game, I believe reading this is necessary in order to fully grasp the story!
It’s hard to translate my love for NieR Replicant and everything related to it in words so I’ll stop here.
Definitely a must-buy if you liked Replicant/want to dig more in the Nier universe. It has content from the old Grimoire Nier (never translated) and a lot of new stuff from 1.22, including a complete and very VERY thorough guide for the game (like every single drop you can get and the spawn location) as well as summary of the story and all endings. Highlights are: - Concept art of everyone, both old and new - Timeline of the whole Clorination fallout+Gestalt project (and a handy glossary for all the fancy terms that pop out here and there) - Two interviews with the creative staff, one from the time Replicant/Gestalt first came out and one for 1.22 - THE SHORT STORIES, they are so. good. a dig into both protagonists and secondary characters that hits REALLY hard in some cases. Personal favorites are Red and Black, And then there were none, Stone Flower.
Oh and in true Drakenier fashion, the dust jacket has a little surprise ;)
Grimoire NieR is a remarkably comprehensive companion book to the game Nier Replicant, it contains, art, a walkthrough, timeline, plot summary, short stories, weapon stories, interviews, maps etc. It’s packed full of everything you could want to know relating to the game. I especially enjoyed the concept art, which is stunning, and the short stories which are worth the price of the book alone. I’m a huge fan of the Nier games and would say this this is a must have to fans of the series.
Fun short stories about the world of Nier Replicant. As much as I absolutely adored the game, these stories didn't do much for me. I guess this should've been an amazing read before Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 came out implementing ending E.
Anyway, it's worth reading if you really liked the game and would like to know a bit more about the characters!
