An inheritance the men in my family seem to be gifted, one that feels a lot like a disease.
It was love at first sight.
Hair the colour of fire, eyes crafted of the deepest jade.
I was captivated by her instantly, enthralled, but it was not meant to be, our worlds were already vastly different. Destinies not meant to intertwine. My family worked for people like her, they didn't marry them. The Princess of the Irish Mob. The eldest son of The Firm's disposal crew.
So, I grew up, I moved on, and I spent long nights in bars drowning dangerous thoughts of her.
But, it seems, with time, things can change. One night, one debt, one single game of cards.
And in a sick twist of fate, a treasure that should never be mine was suddenly within my grasp.
“Feed me with your darkness. Infect me with your sickness, Little Cub.”
Blackwell's don't tell lies.
Thorne Blackwell boy, oh boy... Suits, tattoos, eyes like onyx that match his hair. And a personality that would scare the devil himself 😈 I loved reading his story, especially with the secret he held with his brother Wolf in Heron Mill Tenebris. (Book 2) He is 100% a walking red flag, and I'm here for it! Thorne and Haisleys' relationship is very much a rollercoaster ready to derail.
Thorne goes head to head with the Irish in a game of poker to get what is owed to him. The deal is that if Thorne wins, they will double what is owed. If Thorne loses, he has to dispose of a female who committed murder at no charge. Thorne has what he calls lady luck with cards. But when he finds out who the woman is prior to the game, he is looking forward to not winning. I can't wait to read Cardinal House, which will be about another Blackwell Brother, Wolf. Let's just say his features live up to his name 🥵 tall, bulky, man bun, and golden, amber eyes. Swoon.....

This is the third book in the Blackwell brothers series and we get to see the story of Thorne, the eldest son of The Firm's diposal crew and Haisley, the princess of the Irish Mob.
Blackwell boys are known for their obessions, so when Thorne truly gets obsessed with Haisley, he goes into stalker next level mode and shadows her in every part of her life. But because Princesses aren't meant for monsters like Thorne, he can only admire her from afar.
Thorne NEEDS control, in every aspect of his life. The protector of the brothers, the one that takes care of them all, and makes sure jobs get done. When he ends up after a card game with Haisley, his obsession for 10 years, and a job to end her, he quickly discovers that he is truly doomed.
You see, Haisley completely uproots his life down and throws chaos and so many emotions at him. And now poor Thorne doesn't know what to do with himself.
Through all this beautifully messy chaos, I loved the character growth and the self discovery. The emotions are so viscerally and intimately described that you can feel them yourself, and this had the best the slow-burn love. I mean, the push and pull… don't get me even started!
I simply love the writing style of K.L., she just sucks you into the story and it feels like you are the one experiencing the bloody dark and hauting world of the Blackwells on your own.
I highly recommend this dark, emotional journey that will pull on your heartstrings in the most brutal ways!
✨And then we built a home. She built a home. She is it. My everything. I am consumed by her.✨
4.8/5 I didn’t want it to end 😩 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a sucker for the dark, gloomy, macabre, gothic stories & this was everything I needed and more! Absolutely delicious. I honestly would reread this just to stay in this world. Their romance was so toxic & poisonous yet so beautiful in its own sickening way. The possessive & obsessive love these two have for each other. 😍🖤
♣️DARK/Macabre ♣️Age Gap(23/33) ♣️Captor/Captive ♣️Forced proximity ♣️Family of “disposals” for the mafia ♣️Found family ♣️Slow burn
🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 ——— defffff a slow burn but we love a good tease..🤭 but when the spice hits 🌚 it’s definitely not for the vanilla.. read the tw 😙👌🏼
K.L. had done it again! Another beautiful gothic romance that I am obsessed with. I highlighted so many parts to this books. Just when I thought I couldn’t love a couple more she has given us Thorne and Haisley. Of course, I miss Gracey and Hunter but this couple… they are dark and beautiful. A broken man and woman pieced themselves back together with each others help and love. Finding their true selves through the darkness that both have been living in.
I’ve always felt strange or weird, not normal, hardly fit in; and reading about The Blackwells always make me feel at home. It’s comforting. Rook Point reminded me through all the pain, heartache, and darkness, there can beauty and love with in it. We sometimes have to live through some fvcked up experiences to get there, but we will get where we are supposed to be.
“If she is meant to dance in the shadows, too, you will fix it. Show her you’re sorry. Show her you love her. If she is right for you, she won’t mind the hurt. From you.”
Rook Point focused on Thorne, the eldest Blackwell son. The protector of the brothers, the one that takes care of them all, and make sure jobs get done. That is until a fiery redhead named Haisley arrived in Thorne’s world.
“If I took her now, I would devour her until I drained every last drop of her essence, suck it into my soul, absorb all of her golden threaded goodness inside of me, dissolve it into my darkness.”
Their road to forbidden love is heart breaking and passionate. There are a lot of inner conflicts that both are figuring out. Both are very strong willed and stubborn. The tension and push pull was frustrating and perfect at the same time. The edging was REAL. Ugh Thorne..😮💨😮💨😮💨
“‘Do not test me, Little Cub, for you are far safer with the monster you think you know than the one you do not.’”
I loved the scene with Grace and Thorne. In true Grace fashion, always peculiar, helping Thorne when he needed it the most. Thank you K.L. for including Grace and Hunter in someway. I still miss them. 🫶
“He is a violent, raging storm, dangerous with its bright bolts of lightning, but my fingers want to reach out and touch it all the same.”
I cannot recommend this book enough. If you are looking for gothic dark romance, some incredible tension (it’s worth the slow burn), push and pull, with character growth/self discovery, you will love this book.
I'm not sure where to begin or whether I even should. I feel this book needs you to go all in and experience firsthand the darkness, the grit, the heat.
There will be moments when you're wondering whether this is the end? Can it all be redeemed? And then there will be the moments of 'oh damn, that's hot'. But just know it's a journey that I've loved being on.
"Thorne is the salt of the sea, the storm of the sky, and my fingers curl into fists at my sides at the thought of being drowned in it."
You know just when I thought I recovered from Heron Mill, Rook Point came in and got me all over again!
The gothic aspect calls to me and it makes me feel like I’m really living in the stories. KL writes like you’re the one experiencing everything and it wrecks me every time!
I thought I loved Hunter, but now I also love Thorne 😍 honestly each book just throws us deeper and deeper into this family and I never want to leave 🖤🌊
This story was EVERYTHING! 4.5 ⭐️s but rounding up! The writing isn’t perfect, still repetitive at times.
This is a brutal, emotional, thrilling read. Thorne and Haisley’s story is chef’s kiss💋✨ I couldn’t put this down!!! The setting is stunning. Check the triggers before proceeding.
Im not known for being dramatic, but I would literally Olympic swan dive off of the edge of a cliff straight into titanic temperature water if Daddy Thorne told me too. Gold Medal for K. . Control. Thorne, my delicious little control freak pew pew stabber, he fucking needs it. & who do you think his next pew pew job is for? Haisley, his firey little irish cub, who he just so happens to have Zade level stalked since she was a kid. How do we think this turned out. hahah, shes got him by the balls & quite frankly im jealous! . FIRSTLY, Daddy Taylor-Lane likes to pick you up by your nipples and hulk smash your emotions. It hers sexy little vibe. Tension, she will fucking gut you with it. Dark? pffft, we dont even know tne definition of light. TRAUMA? best friends. But, at the end of this emotional roller coaster she puts you on; she will always cuddle you, pat your ass & tell you that youre her good girl. lmfao, thats how I felt reading this. . . Roses are red, Foxes are copper. Daddy Thorne could eat me, like i was a whopper. . bye, i have to go become a gorgeous ginger and pray for a twisted mister to become obessed with me
“Horror will charm its way into your heart. Death will lure your soul into the dark.”
OMG! Thorne and Haisley’s story took me a long time to consume, only because it was such a heavy, dark and poignant journey that I didn’t want to devour too quickly. I wanted the words to seep into my heart and soul making me feel each and every emotion that was written within the pages. K.L. has given us a deeply tragic, twisted and emotionally raw story that is written with such beautiful lyrical and poetic words.
“Breath fogging the mirror, I watch him step away from me, his eyes still on mine, everything so intense and I want to cry, to claw him back, let him consume me, tuck inside of him. Be whipped up in his storm, carried out to sea, drowned and consumed and devoured.”
Thorne and Haisley are two very damaged characters who share similarities with the demons that have them in their clutches. The forces pulling them together and allowing them to forge a unique and healing relationship actually allows both Thorne and Haisley to grow emotionally. But there are a lot of bumps along the way, secrets that need to be revealed and revenge that needs to be dished out.
“Feed me with your darkness. Infect me with your sickness…Poison me.”
“Let me fest on your fear…Let me take it from you…I will devour everything that has ever hurt you…I will be the only thing left for you to fear…But I will never hurt you.”
My heart was all torn up for these two incredible characters who deserve so much love and happiness. They had me deeply moved by their ability to show how much they desired each other and craved the connection that they were forging just by simple movements and touch. Neither one needs to say anything because the other already knows. The dance they do around each other was filled with such incredibly intense needs and wants and I couldn’t wait for each moment they shared with each other.
“His breath ghosts down the side of my throat and I feel myself wanting to look, not wanting to, my hands limp at my sides, the palms clammy, my body so, so cold everywhere he isn’t touching me. My heart is hammering against my sternum, I want to rip apart my chest cavity, tear it out and stomp on the fucking thing, let the hole in my centre finally breathe, bleed and ooze and hurt.”
A beautifully written story with such haunting prose and poignant words that sweeps you away and takes you on an incredibly brutal and emotional journey that will forever remain in your heart. I laughed, I cried, and I devoured every horror-filled moment until I couldn’t breathe anymore!
Rook Point, where do I start? It’s gotta be with Thorne fucking Blackwell. The oldest son of the Blackwell family, protector, the one running the show (even if that title does honorarily go to Daddy Stryder). What a messed up, twisted character he is. But I doubt any of us readers would have him any other way.
Rook Point takes place at the same time as Heron Mill Tenebris, starting just before and ending a few months after. You don’t need to have read the other book but the reading experience is richer for it. Events slot together beautifully and things from the first book just make so much more sense. So go read that one first; you’ll thank me for it later.
K. L. Taylor-Lane is a genius. Once the first few chapters pass and the circumstances of the story are set the movement all but grinds to a halt until the middle of the book. It shouldn’t work but there’s something in the haunting, almost song-like prose that keeps you captive and waiting. And it is definitely worth the wait because when it all kicks off the hits don’t stop coming and you have to process it all while trying to keep up with the deliciously intricate emotions that both Haisley and Thorne feel.
Haisley comes across as quite a simple character but because she knows she’s marked for death there’s a freedom in her thoughts and actions that’s terrifyingly beautiful. It’s all too easy to become swept up in her disposition towards death and the darkness that pervades her love for Thorne.
As for Thorne, I think this book only scratches the surface of him. We read about Mama Blackwell and what happened to her but I wanted more depth (maybe a short story; please let there be another story) and to hear all the gory details of what really went on at her hands. I suspect I’ll consistently say this throughout the rest of the series unless more is revealed. The true horror of it all clearly shaped a child who was already far from average and as he grew, he turned into someone who was not the monster he claimed, but merely misunderstood. It took Haisley to come and see him for who he truly was, just as she needed Thorne to feel seen in her own right.
Do I really need to sum up this book? No. But I’m going to do it anyway. Rook Point is dark, it’s dirty, and it’s going to turn you on in dangerous ways you really wish it wouldn’t, and you’re going to love every fucking Blackwell second of it.
It all started with a game, a game of cards, a game of mischief. In a ‘dingy, grimy, run-down little hellhole’ Thorne Blackwell, the head of disposals, will seal his fate ...by loosing the game for the first time.
But the devil is in the details, and all Thorne ever wanted and was denied his whole life is deliverd to him on a silver platter. A girl with the jade green eyes and a halo of thick and fiery curls.
Now this story is un unusual one: slow and peaceful, but the pent up tension and fear of what will come simmers in the gloom, waits patiently to strike.
It’s a lyrical story about a broken boy, the eldest of his brothers. Proud of his family name, the Blackwells, content of his job, the disposal. He's clinical in his working methods, always in control, collected, cold and … heartless. Yet, he abides his own rules, gets distracted, puts his family in danger. All because of a girl, a Little Cub.
Haisley is a princess of the Irish Mob, a girl conditioned to obey the rules and serve the men. But she’s nothing but. She’s a handful, fierce and feisty. And she wants to live, to love and be loved.
I thought Hunter and Grace were intense, with their stolen glances, shy looks and whispered confessions. But when it comes to Thorne, it’s another obsession to bloom.
Under the freshly ironed shirts and tailored suits is a raging storm, a man unhinged, feral. A beast, a monster, a killer. But yet with Haisley he’s calm and taimed, an eye of the storm. I was mesmerised by his peaceful demenaor, despite the tornado simmering under his skin. But eventually it hits, reaches its cresendo and a ferocious and untamed beast shows his claws. And that scene, when Thorne finally crumbles under the weight of his responsibilities, failures, broken promises, it hits you stright to your heart – it’s a broken man, lonely, empty, but still struggling to survive, to live, to love.
And only K.L.Taylor -Lane can write such a spectacular and climatic story. First you feel fear of what’s to come, does my life end up today, tomorrow, in a week or maybe I’m destined to be locked up in this tower to rot. Then I’m getting used to my captive life, find connection, peace, comfort … an affection. And I’m feared to be left alone, to be abandonded and discarded for the second time. But mostly I’m feared to die by someone else’s hand. Other than my captor’s.
The journey both, Thorne and Haisley go through, is epic, it’s brutal and painful, but it’s beautiful and enthralling, alone Taylor-Lane can deliver. She writes the finest haunting stories, always in the dark, in the gloom, but that’s where the beauty flourish to extent.
Thorne & Haisley Are Freaking Phenomenal Together!! 🖤🖤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review
This book right here is the main reason I absolutely love and will always love any and all books KL will ever write. PHENOMENAL!!! ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!! From page one to the very last this book had me obsessed and emotionally wrecked.
Thorne’s story was an absolute powerful one. The connection and love between him and Haisley was seriously off the charts intense and soul gripping. They are an extremely dark depraved couple but fit each other like two puzzle pieces interconnected together. Even though they are a dark couple, looking beyond their depravities, the relationship they have with each other is so amazing and perfect. The trust, devotion, honesty, love, and passion they have between each other is so pure and true it takes your breath away to read about. They will most definitely have your emotions on a roller coaster ride that you can’t get off of and won’t want to.
I truly loved Hunter and Grace and their story……but…..Thorne and Haisley, OMG they are by far the best and most intense couple KL has written yet. I seriously would beg and plead to her for more of Thorne & Haisley!!! Absolutely freaking obsessed with them. Do be aware of TW’s before diving in. The ending was absolutely perfect and I truly do hope and wish we can get more of them like we did Hunter & Grace. Definitely looking forward to Daddy Stryker’s story, Wolf’s story and the other brothers too. This is a book I highly recommend if you love dark, honestly I honestly recommend all of KL’s books and forever will! She is a definite one-click author!!
Just when I think I can’t love KL’s writing and characters any more, she has to go and write Rook Point. Wow. Thorne is EVERYTHING. He is all my favourite traits in a male character rolled into one, he’s perfection. I would let him destroy me and have a smile on my face the entire time, Haisley I get you girl, I completely understood the fascination and attraction.
Thorne is dark. He is meticulous in everything, the way he speaks, the way he dresses, how he works. He’s a ruthless killer, the clean up guy who takes care of people and makes them disappear. The same strict methodological routine that he doesn’t allow himself to deviate from. Until her.
Haisley, I am fully in love with her too. The Irish temperament but yet with Thorne she’s so naturally submissive, so eager to please, eager for the death she knows is awaiting her. Cast aside by her family, her worth ruined, she’s given to Thorne as a job. To discard of, because no one cares about her. Until him.
And the setting, guys Rook Point is incredible, someone tell me a place like this exists because I need to go live there. A house on a cliff where the waves crash and the winds howl, next to a lighthouse that is crumbling. The whole aesthetic gave me goosebumps. The eeriness was haunting.
Another thing I really enjoyed and you won’t see me saying this often, this book is slow burn. I usually don’t get on with this trope but it was so perfect for Thorne and Haisley, it was right and the angst and tension was 100% the right call. Their story, god. I loved it so much.
"Let me feast on your fear, Little Cub. Let me take it from you I will devour everything that has ever hurt you."
"How much blood will you spill for me, Thorne?" "All of it, every last drop from every person that has ever hurt you. And anyone that has ever thought about it."
So, the writing is beautiful as always. I really do love the Blackwell Brothers. I just didn't love Thorne. I found him to be too obsessed with killing Haisley or something. He was way too rough with her. She comes from a place of severe abuse, and I wish Thorne could have been more gentle with her at times. The bathtub scene made me uncomfortable. It's like Thorne needs to almost kill her to get off, and I found that a bit much, even for a dark Gothic romance. It was hard to connect with Thorne, he seemed like he wanted to kill her, and he played a card game at the end for her life. Did he have a back up plan if he lost? He tells her if he loses he will be the one to kill her. And they say romance is dead. I didn't see Haisley bring out a softer side to Thorne at all. She went from one physical abuser to another and I wish it would have played out differently.
I will definitely keep reading the series as I do adore the Blackwell boys. Hunter is still my favorite by far!! I could feel his love for Grace. And I did not feel love from Thorne and Haisley needs to be loved and handled a bit more gently.
What a beautiful haunting, gothic written story! This is the third book in the Blackwell Brothers series. Definitely my favourite book. I’m obsessed with this Authors writing and her creativity. She writes the emotions for you to be able to feel it in your soul. I am truly loving this series.
"Horror will charm its way into your heart. Death will lure your soul into the dark."
Book 3 We get to see Thorn the oldest and most collected of the brothers and Haisley who is from the Irish mafia. Both damaged and have a lot of demons. Both share a silent understanding.
Of course Thorn is obsessed with Haisley he’s a Blackwell brother after all. For years he’s always watched her from the shadows . Due to conflict of interest never able to act on his feelings. He’s tried to burry them. Until one night and a game of cards changes everything! Can he really kill the girl who consumes his every thought!

Reading order… 1)Hereon Mill 2)Herron Mill tenebris 3)Rook point 4)Cardinal House In the making 5)Magpie mine 6)……….
Rook Point is just a deliciously Gothic, modern mafia romance. With forced proximity and life long "shadowing" also being part of the tropes explored here, you can imagine that it goes to some interesting places. There are definitely triggers, so if you have any, please check them out before you read. I love this authors books. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as someone who has struggled with mental health, seeing it on the page and being able to read it and enjoy the experience, it's a gift. There is nothing like an old crumbling lighthouse as a setting and I love how the unique setting is it's own character. This world is pretty well established if you've read the other books set in it (and if you haven't, please do because they are amazing) and we've met Thorne before. Haisley is however a new character and her slow exposure to the reader is just so rewarding. Here is a young woman who really has never been allowed to be herself, she finds freedom in her captivity with Thorne though and that is what I think makes her unique and of course perfect for him. Thorne is complex and delicious, an anti hero that is flawed and broken. The slow build of their love is everything and I loved it. This book and the other two Blackwell Brothers books are simply great. I know that I will be rereading again and again.
I read this book in one day. I repeat: IN ONE DAY! The way Thorne snatched that happily ever after for his princess was devious... Thorne Blackwell. Handsome, Calculated, Focused. In control. Until the day comes that all he has to do is lose, to get a shot at everything he's ever wanted. The Blackwell brothers secure the package that is to be disposed of immediately. That's the intention, was the intention. Haisley Kelly. To be taken out by the most lethal cleaner in the Company, girl really never stood a chance. She should've willed her eyes shut and never looked upon this man...
"Horror will charm its way into your heart. Death will lure your soul into the dark."
His obsession was an abyss, his control was haunting him... I felt so torn for Thorne, this man who could never have the girl his heart wanted. Born to serve her and her family, not to stand at her side. Funny thing, irony, huh? You can finally reach out and touch the object of your obsession but you MUST obliterate in the same breath. Haisley battles herself everyday, her emotions towards her captor. What day would be her last?..
Blackwells don’t tell lies. Until he did. Deeply depraved and I loved every single second of this! Once again, I am in awe at how descriptive this author is painting a picture of everything so well. Very dark trauma has happened to both of the MCs and it’s what forms them into people attracted to the GLOOM. I was glad to see the other Blackwell family members involved as well as the beloved Grace from the first few books. I would say not a lot happens throughout even though it started out strong. The development of feelings between Thorne and Haisley took up like 50% of the book, while they stay at a lighthouse location called Rook Point. Two people finding solace in each other but also wanting to hurt one another. Once again two people made for each other perfectly and with a strong found family trope. The Blackwells always makes you feel safe, welcomed and protected. Can’t wait for Wolf’s story in the next book!
“Feed me with your darkness. Infect me with your sickness, Little Cub.” Breath rushes out of me, my fingers fisted in the blanket, slowly, I lift one of them, let my fingertips ghost over his back. “Poison me.”
The lyrical writing KL wields will alway capture me. Thorne and Haisley are characters with so much depth and KL executes their character development perfectly. KL’s writing is so atmospheric that you feel like you’re there , in that little house alongside Haisley and Thorne, experiencing everything they are, even tasting the salt from the rain and the sea surrounding. Although the story was slow burn I feel this added more depth to the story as not only was the tension built between Thorne and Haisley but it also gave room for the character development these two went through, Thorne realising he can not control every minuscule detail and Haisley finding her voice and standing up for herself after being raised to believe she’s not worth anything.
Rook Point is a lyrically haunting story of a broken woman and a man who believes he is a monster, finding their own path and in their own way ,happiness, they’re not perfect but they do not want to be cured.
Blackwells do not tell lies. He lost the card game to get her, but he must win the game to keep her. Thorne blackwell is the oldest son and has what some may call strange and dark compulsions. He needs control, without it he feels like a loose canon, a monster. He has watched haisley Kelly since she was seventeen. That is when his obsession began, but his father told him a girl like her was not meant for a boy like him. Now he is supposed to be her captor, the person to end her, but of course it's never that simple. He doesn't want to let her go, they play a dangerous game and both end up hurting. Their love story is not for the faint of heart, it is messy and dark and twisted, but the tension and angst between these two is delicious and addicting. The spice doesn't come until 70ish percent of the way in, but it's done so well. I loved this story and enjoyed getting Thorne and haisleys story. Excited for the rest of the blackwell family.
I LOVE the Blackwell Brothers. I am so invested in their family. This book focuses on Thorne, the oldest brother. He is obsessed with Haisley and charged with killing her. Haisley is a very unique mafia princess in that she sees her uselessness and knows she has no value to her family. I love how dark and disturbed the Blackwell brothers are and I was not disappointed in Thorne's brand of disturbed. Haisley and Thorne are made for each other, I could not get enough of their quiet dysfunctional dynamic. I cannot wait to read more of the brothers' stories. Events in this book run concurrent with other K.L. Taylor-Lane books in this universe and there are characters that overlap but you do not have to have read anything else to appreciate this story as it is, I highly recommend you do though. This universe is a dark and delightful web, it is widespread, unique and traps you once you fall into it.
As I get to read more of K.L.'s books, I end up just adding more and more names to my list of book boyfriends. Thorne, although flawed is book boyfriend material, the possessiveness, the protectiveness and the way he loves Haisley makes you love him all the more. There is Dark themes so make sure to read the tw/cws but to those that love a dark romance with an unusual MMC, then you definitely have to read this book. Their love is a darker one, but you can't help thinking that they really are perfect for each other, and that they really do balance each other out. I loved how sweet Haisley is, not afraid to stand up for herself but knows when the time is, I could admire that about her. With a big and forgiving heart, she definitely managed to make me love her. I loved how the author has written and described her, it's been a while since I've gotten to read a curvy FMC, I loved it. Highly Recommend!!!
I have been anticipating this book my whole life! Okay, so that sounds a bit dramatic. No, really I have been waiting for this story to drop. I loved this book and I love Thorne but not as much as I loved his brother's books they are the two that start this series. Yes, I just admitted that. Thorne is dark Im talking more than morally grey and I needed to know more about him. This book did just that and I ate it up. Haisley was perfection. This girl was the definition of strong. These two honestly balanced each other out she was his light and she was his dark. Let us not forget those ugly tears I cried I felt like Thorne ripped my heart out of my chest those few chapters were brutal to read but I kept going. This book is worth reading but I suggest the first two.
Y’all. Daddy Thorne doesn’t play. How KL writes is so descriptive and detailed and magnificent. I feel like I’m in the book watching it all play out in front of me. So. Thorne. Daddy Thorne. He brings it. Him and his little cub. Have some ahhh plz just give in naughty tension. The intimate moments shared between two was everything and I loved the build up. I love the darkness and this entire family really. And How they meet is so perfectly him. How he declares his love for her in the most spectacular way. Heheheh. I’m sick and twist lol Then things that occur at the end make me go EEK! What next??!! No seriously K. What is next. I need to know!!! Highly recommend this read and all other things KL!
Thorne has had a thing for Haisley but for him she has always been out of reach until she isn’t.
There is a lot of back and forth with Thorne and Haisley. Thorne is different and Haisley just sees him. While He has always been obsessed with her. They do have a age difference between them. In their darkness they just get each other. It makes you crave things you didn’t know you wanted.
Told in DPOV. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone with no cliffhanger. It runs parallel with Heron Mill Tenebris you do not need to read this first but having read the entire series I feel it enhances the reading experience.
I also loved that she brings in characters from the Swallow family. I miss them too and love a glimpse of them 🖤.
Wow!! Such an emtional and thought provoking read. There were some darker elements in this story but there was also love and some steam. Thorne and Haisley were both two lonely and lost souls seeking something unknown to them. Fortunately, they were just what each other needed. I loved both characters, but Thorne was probably my favorite. His character was so complex, but also simple in some ways. For being a Blackwell, he had such a soft spot for Haisley. Only for her of course. While Haisley was resilient and smart, she also grew throughout the story. Overall, I thought it was a great read! I like that we got to visit some other characters that we know and love as well.
This story is a dark gothic romance, slow burn, and age gap with all the emotional damage thrown in.
Thorne is dark, devoid of emotion, need for control, and utterly obsessed. Haisley is Thornes' absolute match, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. They balance each other out and understand each other on another level that no one else understands.
It was great making the connections from the previous book [Heron Mill Tenebris] as well and being able to read it from Thorne's point of view. I enjoyed this dark romance, I would definitely recommend reading the 1st two books.
What a read! Thorne will seduce you with his dark intensity, the tension between him and Haisley made me feel physically ill at some points during this book. They exist in the gloom of Rook Point, together but apart, fighting feelings. The writing is as dark as it is beautiful, K is an astounding writer, I was with them as Thorne fought to keep his darkness from infecting Haisley, while she needed the pain and darkness that bled from him. Read the content warnings, look up the one I'd never heard of!!! then step into the gloom and chill of Rook Point.
