The Cryptid Chronicles: Here Be Monsters

Rate this book
A knock on the door that changed everything.

Up until that moment, they were typical 20-year-old college students. Aiden and Adelaide Enfield had grown up reading the legends of creatures and of cryptid lore in their father's library. When Fynch Enfield was home in between his crypto-zoology research trips, he would regale them with these wonderful, though sometimes frightening, stories. Never in a million years did they expect to be taking over his work, because they never allowed themselves to think that he could ever be gone. But now he was inexplicably dead. And in his will, he asked them to carry on his work.

Where will this journey take them and how will it end?

What a Rollercoaster of adventures this book was.

The characters were amazing. I loved getting to know the twins and their friends/family.

The storyline was incredible and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. And that ending pulled at my heartstrings. This book is full of lots of adventures and scary moments but I was completely enchanted by the story. I felt as if I was part of the story which made it that much more entertaining. I enjoyed this read very much and I highly recommend it.

odd characters and poor editing

The very first scene is an incest-vibey exchange between the twins focusing on the young man’s …. I take it the author either had no siblings or just chose to make the relationship between the twins as unnecessarily gross and uncomfortable with out adding any story value.

The descriptions, dialogue and literal redundancies that are annoying and unbelievable could have been avoided pre-publication with proper editing. Having to read a sentence that is structurally odd that contains sophomoric descriptions and hard to believe actions was just a bridge too far for me - too bad, because I found the premise interesting in a sort of ‘Indiana Jones” way.
