Throughout my time as an elite hockey player, I’ve had a few hookups.

But there's only one I can’t get out of my mind.

Stella left me high and dry in Costa Rica with a bruised ego and a broken heart after a single perfect day.

I wish I’d ignored all the rules with her. I wish I’d made her mine in every way that mattered.

Instead, I pushed her out of my mind, buckled down and became the team captain of the Vegas Venom, leading them to their first Stanley Cup.

But all of the accomplishments in the world can’t stop her memory from haunting me.

And when she breezes back to Vegas for a photo shoot where I’m her model–her…uhh…nude model–and doesn’t seem to remember me, my heart drops.

So I give her the best deep freeze I can muster while I build bigger walls around my heart.

Then she starts chipping away at my hard exterior. In order to let her in, I’ll have to trust her.

And I’m not sure I could survive it if she left me again...

After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye.
It’s true.
Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line.
My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied.
I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you.

The earth moved when Anders Beck, pro NHL player and Captain of the Las Vegas Venoms encountered a beautiful woman named Stella, an amateur photographer chasing pictures of unusual looking birds while they were both in Costa Rica on Spring break. They enjoyed two days of unimaginable passion only to separate without ever learning how to stay in touch with one another. Anders is haunted by Stella, her beauty, her body, the way he felt when they were together and spends his time trying random internet searches of female photographers of birds named Stella with no luck. Stella has poured her heart into her career instead of pining away for the young man she encountered all those years ago. Her mind is never far from thoughts of him no matter how many photos she takes. Wheeler, by Colleen Charles, opens seven years later when both Anders and Stella have established and distinguished themselves in their careers. Anders is required to attend a photo shoot for the team and is gob-smacked when the photographer turns out to be "his" Stella. He is devastated when she does not recognize him. He refuses to be photographed naked by her and becomes angry and cold toward Stella because their encounter did not mean to her what it meant to him. Stella is just plain confused. Why would this man who is used to running around the team locker room naked have any qualms about her taking his picture. And, although this man is the most attractive man she has seen in years, she cannot understand his attitude and refusal to participate in her project. And, without a doubt, after she sees his phenomenal body, so beautifully crafted in muscle upon muscle, she knows he is the male model she wants for her book. His body is a work of art and she wants to capture it in film. Stella is staying with her mother who is the nanny for Anders best friend, so they are thrown together repeatedly for team and family events.
Anders feelings, although bruised by her lack of recognition, are nonetheless up front because his attraction for this beautiful woman has only increased as she has matured. When Stella learns who Anders really is, she understands why she did not recognize him. He was a young man who had not developed physically into the muscular, perfectly toned athlete he has become. Everything about him has matured. I will not give away the rest of the story, but I will say that this is one steamy, sizzling, and interesting tale of two people who each had one regret in life that they let the other get away, but how they respond to their second chance to create something they have each longed for since the day they parted ways is heart stopping. Wheeler is beautifully written and will strike your heart and light it up! Do not miss this novel!.

Quick notes: Hockey (but not enough to be boring for non-hockey people like me), HOT AF, Second Chance, Independent and Lovely FMC, Super Swoony MMC, BEARD! Exhibitionism! Waterfall Sex! Size Difference! Literally Laughed Out Loud, Large Cast of Amazing Secondary Characters (including confident plus size model, LGBTQ+ BFF, wonderfully charming secondary character learning English, adorable kid, sweet mom, evil club owner)

First I have to say that I’m really not big into sports, and I know next to nothing about hockey. I admit that I’d never read a sports romance at all until reading Colleen’s work, but she’s opened me up to a whole new world. I started reading the Vegas Venom Series on Book two (a bad habit of mine) but even still, I didn’t have any trouble coming in on the second book because there’s plenty of context for each book to read as a standalone.

Whether one cares anything at all about hockey, the steeeeam in this book, HOLY HELL! Her sex scenes are excellent, and definitely not something I can read in public, and not just because I have a shit poker face lol. Colleen absolutely excels at building the most delicious sexual tension, which is extra impressive considering how much banging there is in this book (I mean damn, from literally the first chapter!) My favorite steamy bit was the library scene, and I would probably recommend this book on the merit of that scene alone. You don’t get much better than devilishly hot sex, dirty talk that makes your knees weak, and considerate and respectful conversations about consent and kinks all rolled into one delicious story.

Even more impressive is the level of swoon in this romance. Anders is everything you could want in a book boyfriend, and the intensity of his pining for Stella melted me. I loved getting to see how they met, and then how they reconnected years later after the time jump when he was still hopelessly in love with her. I mean sure, in all that time of course he idealized her a little bit, but getting to see him genuinely fall for her even more after reconnecting was serious next level swoon. A huge test for me is if the MMC reveals reasons for his love of the FMC beyond just how she makes him feel and what she does for him, and Anders delivers in spades! Haha, I’m so funny with my Vegas humor! Is there anything that gets to my heart faster than a man who knows how to examine his emotional hangups and puts real effort into making a grown-up relationship work?? I genuinely love these characters together, and I adore how they fit into the big wonderful cast of characters in the Vegas Venom family.

Wheeler was a wonderful, funny, and super hot read, and I’m really looking forward to diving into more of the Vegas Venom Series!

Six years ago, Anders Beck had a few perfect days with the perfect woman in Costa Rica, where he and his fellow Vegas Venom hockey players had a last hurrah before training camp began. Stella was a photographer who took pictures of wildlife and natural wonders and she and Anders had an incredibly close connection. But it was over before it really started because he had to get back to Vegas for the start of the season. Safe to say, they may not ever find each other again, and all their loose ends will be left untied. Back in Vegas, the Venom team owner, Dante Giovanetti, lets Anders know that he's lined up a photo shoot for him to model for a photographer named S.J. Croft. He knows nothing about the expectations; it's a nude photo shoot. In the meantime, his mind has gone back to Stella and he commiserates with Noah about the one that got away. Noah can't understand why he hasn't looked for her in all this time, considering how much he hated leaving her in Costa Rica. What a surprise when Anders walks into the photo shoot and realizes that the S in S J Croft is Stella. Maybe everything will turn out just as he hoped. But Stella doesn't recognize him and it takes quite a while for it to sink in, but how much have they changed? Stella actually lives in Vegas and her mother just happens to be Noah's nanny, Francine. Stella's mom hasn't been doing real well so she decided to stay with her for awhile. That brings Anders and Stella together for all team get-togethers and family dinners. They were sweet together although, at times, a little chippy. When Stella finally realizes just who Anders is, she feels horrible because she's sure that he must hate the fact that she didn't recognize him immediately. They slowly get their minds and hearts in the same place, but they are both riddled with what-ifs and denials. It takes Stella's mother to give them some valuable advice and, finally, they find themselves back to their beginning. It's a really sweet story with a lot of swoon worthy moments and hilarious wit. The secret of the tattoo was a little underwhelming, but it definitely added some angst. Marco is a total hoot and the perfect character to spout anything crazy, often politically incorrect, in his mishmash of Italian and English. When he searches for a word, I just know I'm going to be chuckling. This is a wonderful addition to the Vegas Venom series!

“Wheeler” is the second book in the ‘Vegas Venom’ series by Colleen Charles. I’m not usually a big fan of second chance romances, but this one was terrific. You do not need to have read the first book in the series in order to thoroughly enjoy this one.

Anders is the popular captain of his NHL hockey team; he’s a great guy as well as a great hockey player. He hooks up with women occasionally, but he’s never pursued a relationship with anyone because no one has ever interested him the way a woman on his last collegiate spring break did. She was a nature photographer with a fascinating personality, and the physical connection they shared was incredibly intense. Years later, he still thinks of her often. Although he’d tried to find her, they only ever exchanged first names. His team sent him to do a photo shoot and when he gets to the studio, he’s shocked to find that the photographer is Stella – the woman he’s been unable to forget. Excitement turns to bitter disappointment when she doesn’t recognize him. However, destiny lends a hand; he sees her again because circumstances have her linked to the family of his best friend. For the record, Stella has never forgotten him either, and there’s a very good reason for her not initially recognizing him.

I loved this story so much! Anders and Stella were excellent characters with relatable feelings and fears. Anders is especially adorable in how he’s not afraid to admit to himself how strongly he feels about Stella. It’s great that the book is told from dual points of view, so we really get to understand what each of them are thinking throughout the story. The heat of their physical connection will light up your Kindle, and at the same time the sweetness underlying everything is always there. The secondary characters provide excellent balance and humor, moving the story forward and giving us insight into the mindsets of the main characters. Also, any book with sloths is automatically a winner! The ending was perfect – you can feel the joy in it. I really hope to see more of Anders and Stella in the next book of the series, which I’m eagerly awaiting!.

Another absolute winner from Colleen Charles! I’m in love with the characters from the Vegas Venom world and can’t get enough of the stories this series brings. This amazing romance is about second chances. A steamy spring break hook up that created a longing that never left. Two people with successful careers but that also require them to be apart. Chemistry that’s incredibly intense and extremely steamy! An ending that so unexpected but absolutely perfect for these characters. This book brings all the feels with plenty of unique situations and fresh steamy scenes. I’m looking at private libraries and drive in movie theaters in an all new spicy light!!

Anders and Stella meet the spring break before college graduation. I loved how they met and the steamy time they spent together. I need to find a waterfall on my next vacation! Years later they are reunited when she’s the photographer for a photo shoot he’s been assigned to by his boss. Read their story and experience them discovering who they are as adults and who they could be as a couple. It won’t be an easy journey for them to their happily ever after though. There’s the threat of an end date for when she leaves again. His boss that seems out to cause him problems. And trust issues that they both have a need to work through. I adored these characters from the start and fell more in love with them as their story developed. Their ending couldn’t have been more beautiful and I can’t wait to see what happens to them next as supporting characters in future books.

Anders Beck, Captain of the Las Vegas Venom NHL team fell for a girl he meet in Costa Rica on Spring Break in college just before the draft. He has been pining for her and Googling animal photography in the hopes of finding her again. When he goes to a photo shot the last person he expects to see is his Stella. He is crushed when she doesn’t recognize him.

I loved how connected Anders and Stella were for years without either of them knowing about the connection. Stella’s mom, Francine, but is the live in nanny for his best friend, Noah’s niece/daughter Vivian. Stella doesn’t come to Vegas to visit her mom
very often, but the stars were aligned for them to eventually run into each other.

Anders is worried he is going to scare Stella off if he is honest with his deep feelings for her so he tries to keep things casual to slowly build a relationship with her. His inner self doubt is a little unexpected in the gruff, alpha professional athlete and captain of his team.

They have some misunderstandings and miscommunication that cause them to stumble and stress over things that really shouldn’t have become a big deal. I enjoyed the storyline, but could have done with less manufactured angst. This isn’t a young adult romance, so they should have both been able be a bit more capable of sharing their feelings with the person each of them have longed to be with for years!

I was really looking forward to reading this book, but the beginning made that hard and soured things for me. It seemed to start out with potential then it ended up being awkward to read because I couldn’t tell if it was happening or a dream sequence.
Like a steamy scene that I couldn’t tell if they were in the water or not and it was more like something that would be happening after they established a relationship not a “one-timer”.
Some of the things that happened were a really good start for Blaze and Stella, then mood swings started to happen and I got confused on what was happening because I didn’t think some of the attitude was warranted. Did Stella like Blaze? Did she think he was just another tool?
This writing style wasn’t like the first book in the series.
Blaze seems sweet and not your average playboy hockey player but I found it hard to believe he and Stella didn’t exchange numbers after two days of being together.
Jumping 7 years wasn’t clear right away, but the accidental reconnecting made more sense.
Second Chance HEAs are my thing so it ended on an okay note, but I’m hoping the next love story in this series is better.

Anders and Stella, the lead characters, had a couple of day holiday fling six years ago. Neither got the other’s full name and, though they looked for each other, they never found the other person. Now Anders has signed up for a promotional photo opportunity organised by his employer and is shocked to find Stella is the photographer and mortified to realise she doesn’t recognise him. Stella is later mortified to find out she didn’t recognise him but he recognised her. Now they need to work out if they can trust each other enough to make a go of anything, especially given Stella’s career means she’s a world traveller and Anders can’t just go with her…

This story is dual POV, well written, and an interesting, fast paced, hidden identity romance. I appreciated that Anders had a family of choice and support network that he could tap into when he needed advice. I enjoyed the way both thought of their past selves and the way they explored their current selves. I understood their trust issues and enjoyed how they worked past them to develop their relationship. I enjoyed both characters’ development that saw them making space for each other in their very full lives.

Vegas Venom #2

Ander Beck met Stella Croft in Costa Rica while he was there on Spring Break from college along with some of his hockey teammates. She was there photographing birds and they spent the time together and had a great time but then they parted ways without knowing how to contact each other or even last names.
Seven years have passed and Ander plays professional hockey for the Vegas Venom and he still thinks about Stella all the time. She is in Vegas to do a photo shoot for her upcoming book and Anders is one of her models but no one mentioned it was a nude shot. Anders was shocked to find out S.J. Croft was Stella and she doesn't remember him, he's crushed. So he decides to freeze her out but it's not so easy when she is staying with her mom who is a nanny to one of his teammate's child and they are around each other. Slowly they start to spend time together and grow close but all is not so easy when trust is crushed. Will the truth come out or is it too late?

I really enjoyed the book, the one problem I had was the team owner and it being believable.
I loved Marco and hope he gets his own book. I laughed every time he talked.

When you know you just know Blaze knew from the moment he meet Stella on spring break in Costa Rica that she was special but 7 years have passed is the spark still there or did somebody move on and forget the other person that's exactly what happened. Stella a photographer spends allot of time traveling but she's in Vegas home of the Venom Hockey Team to do a photo shoot with nude Hockey players and one of those guys is her spring Fling but she doesn't remember him but Blaze remembers her now hes disappointed and angry he just needs to move on there's plenty of women out there but he runs into her everywhere especially since her mom is his teammates nanny. There are some funny moments confusing moments and allot of hurt feelings to get past before they have a future together.

I liked this book it read well it had some minor issues but it was mostly about the characters themselves they seemed to lack maturity at times instead of just saying how they felt they just let things build up causing problems that was my only issue with the book.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I have received an advanced read copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is the 2nd book in the Vegas Venom Series and this one was as heart warming as the 1st one. This one follows the story of Noah’s team mate Anders Beck (aka Blaze) and his chance meeting with Stella during college break before he becomes a famous NFL player. Stella is a wild life photographer, with a fantastic career.
A chance meeting years later, where Stella doesn’t recognise Anders leads to the rekindling of their love affair only the stakes are much higher this time. This is a powerful story that shows how Men and Women struggle to show their true feelings and that it’s normal find falling in love scary. This book made me chuckle but also made me emotional. Of course there’s also the sexy scenes you would expect from a Colleen Charles novel. If you want a heart warming romance then this book won’t disappoint. Absolutely recommend it. I look forward to the next book in the Vegas Venom series.

“I wonder if she still wonders about me.”

Who would have guessed Anders Beck, hot team captain of the Vegas Venoms was such a romantic at heart? After reading and loving Noah and his tater tot, Molly in book one I was really looking forward to the next book in what is shaping up to be Colleen’s best series ever. I was not disappointed. Anders and Stella’s love story was completely different from Noah and Molly’s but no less fantastic. I mean I liked Anders in Flopper but I really came to love him in Wheeler. He and Stella had to go through a lot to get their own HEA, but it was worth it.

Latham is next. Yes! His book should be a good one, too. And I see the delicious and amusing Marco is after that. I’m loving this team and their series. Keep them coming, please!.

Good read

I am enjoying this series! Anders and Stella are a fun couple with a past. A hot passionate fling in college in an exotic location followed by going separate ways should have been to end but Anders feeling of soulmate seemed to be tattooed on his heart. When he shows up at a photo shoot to find his love behind the camera he thought he'd won the lottery, until he figured out she didn't recognize him. Stella has been on an adventure high, but is back in her hometown to regroup and photograph models for a book, she looked forward to spending time with her mom. But when her first model refused the job but he also sent her body in a quiver, well a good read is going to follow! Fun characters, good feels and heat make this an entertaining read.

They meet briefly in Costa Rica on Spring Break in college. The beautiful nature photographer seemed to be meant for him. Then she was gone, but Anders never forgot Stella. He spent years dreaming of her while building his career in the NHL. Now he’s a starter for the Las Vegas Venom and he’s been sent to a photo shoot! When arrives the photographer has her back to him, but he notices she looks familiar. And when she turns around it’s the woman he’s dreamed about for nearly a decade, Stella! Will she remember him? Will she be as glad to see him as he is to see her? Are all his dreams about to come true?
A wonderful story about first love and finding that person you were meant to be with!
Lots of hot hockey players, laughter and some serious steam!
A MUST READ!

Anders & Stella

They met during college spring break in Costa Rica. Anderson was absolutely taken in by her beauty, while Stella was taking pictures of the wildlife there.

They had an incredible few days together and then they parted ways. But they never forgot the electric feelings that were there. Fast forward six years later and Anders has to do a photo session with a world renowned photographer. He walks in and its Stella but she doesn't recognize him because he has changed so much but he is very hurt.

Loved them both so much. Not too much drama, thankfully.

I have hopes the the teams owner eventually gets what is coming to him. And I absolutely can't wait to get to Marcos story.

A sweet sports romance must read.

For fans of sports romance this is a must read for you. Book two of the Vegas Venom series, gives us a second chance romance that has all the feels. From the first moment Blaze saw her he was attracted to Stella “bird girl”. His friends didn’t think she was all that, but to him there was just something about her that he was mesmerized from the start. They connect and spend time during his spring break, but they didn’t keep in touch. When they see each other again it’s been 7 years, will the chemistry sizzle to give them a second chance but with a HEA? One click to find out in this enjoyable, sweet sports romance that didn’t disappoint.

I absolutely loved Anders and Stella in this story. Anders is the heart on his sleeve cinnamon roll hero who happens to be a pro hockey player. And Stella is a free spirited photographer who is secretly afraid of settling down and losing herself to someone else.

These two meet on a vacation and spend a few days being uninhibited and letting their desires run wild. Seven years later, they've always wondered, and even pined for each other. And they cross paths in a few different ways realizing their lives are intertwined more than they ever knew. This is a very lighthearted read with very little angst and a heavy dose of steamy chemistry.

It’s taken a while to get back to this series but it was well worth the wait. Colleen Charles is one of my favorite hockey romance writers and she continues to put out awesome reads. I’m a little behind in the series but I will read more. This is Anders Beck who we met in the first book and Stella Croft’s story of second chance. They met in Costa Rica while he was on spring break waiting for the NHL draft. She was an aspiring photographer of wild life heading to adventures of a life time. Six years later they finally find one another again when she comes home to Vegas to be with her mother who is living in Anders best friend Noah’s house as a nanny. This has lots of streamy romance and a wonderful HEA.

Anders and Stella run into each other after years apart. Stella does not recognize Anders who is hurt because he has secretly been pining for her. Apparently Anders looks totally different and Stella is shocked that they’ve met again. They are two people who love each other but lack communication. This leads to a few misunderstandings and hurt feelings. The two eventually come clean about their feelings and compromise about their relationship. I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed seeing all the characters from Flopper.

Anders and Stella meet and unknowingly fall in love in Costa Rica. When they part they realize they don't know how to find one another. Both build amazing careers and fate has them meet again... but they need help from their friends and family to find their way. Their story is steamy, sad, silly, and all the other emotions you expect when you're in a Vegas Venom book! The characters in this series are like family. You meet them and want to keep in touch, watch them grow, and experience their highs and lows. Colleen does a great job making that happen! I'm already looking forward to Grinder!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Anders and Stella. They originally met while in Costa Rica while he's on spring break from college. But they didn't exchange information and he felt she was the one that got away. Now six years later, he's a professional hockey player and she's a big time photographer. When he sees her again, he is ready to pick up where they left at on the island. But the trouble is, she doesn't recognize him. This causes some awkward moments. But a chance to reconnect is given to them.

Anders and Stella spend a few days together in Costa Rica... no last names, no plans, no promises. He's never forgotten her, but is heartbroken when their paths cross and she doesn't recognize him. They'll have plenty of opportunities to become reacquainted, with plenty of mutual friends and family. I loved reading their story. They have some really great back and forth banter, and plenty of steam. We also get to see some favorite characters from the last book... Nanny Frannie is Stella's mom. And Viv is as much a princess as ever. Poor Biscuit! Marco - what a riot! I hope we have his book soon. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I mean it's progress.. stuff actually happened in the book that had to do with him being a hockey player.. so I guess hockey romance can kind of be allowed to work for this story.

I did kind of think it was cute ig? But second chance romance has never really been my thing and from the book description I was expecting more angst and tension before they start fucking/the feelings stuff.

Yes it took longer for them to get together this time but I still feel like they fell in love too early for my taste so yeah...

Also the way Marco unknowingly kind of fat-shamed her while trying to flirt kind of hit me in the wrong way, but he's adorable as a character but almost in a childish way which kind of turns me off from the book even if it's not about him.

So cute! Love a hockey series set around a team. This second chance romance pulled at my heart strings. It features a "boy falls first, and hardest, and then pines for years," trope that challenges the genre of sports romance.
Cute, fun, and fast read. I can't wait for the next books in the series.

(But why is this book called Wheeler? It's not the characters name or a term used in the book. Am I missing something?).

This was the sweetest second chance sports (hockey) romance with a ton of chemistry and heat! It’s the second book in the Vegas Venom series featuring Anders and Stella. It all started on spring break in Costa Rica where they meet, have an intense connection but don’t exchange contact information. She only knows him by his nickname Blaze and they have no idea how to find each other. Fast forward to six years later when fate takes over and a still pining for the girl that got away Anders sees Stella unexpectedly. I don’t want to give the good stuff away so I recommend this for your next read.

This is Book 2 in the Vegas Venom Series by this author. It is a second chance romance between Anders and Stella. These likeable characters and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. What starts out as a fling during spring break six years ago turns into something more. Once they reconnect, it is an emotional journey with some drama, steam, humor, unexpected twists, and passion, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An engaging page turner.

Stella is the one that got away for Anders—years ago on his spring break trip. After all his waiting, she ends up being tangent to his inner circle. To add insult to injury, she doesn’t recognize him. Poor guy gets his feelings so hurt and needs his friends to put him back on the right path a couple times since communication is not his strong suit. They both have lack of communication. They are fun though. The guys are fun and entertaining.

FMC is ugh, but the book is great!

OK, this is 100% personal opinion, but I do NOT like the FMC and I HATE how they put everything on the MMC there at the end. Zero accountibility in this ticks me smooth off. This chick never arcs or even bends for her man. She's just ALWAYS right or "in the" right. And YUCK. YUCK.

But the writing and pacing are great. The romance is THERE. The spice? Is nice.

The MMC? Oh, yum.

Humor? On point.

So... I finished and still wanna throat punch Stella, but am also glad I read it. Do with this review what you will.
