Intense from the start! There was a lot of story packed into this novella. The curse hit hard and fast in this one. Monsters, mobs, magical beasts, secret hideaways, romance, forgotten lore, and even fairies. Fallon has not been painted in the most favorable light by his neighboring royals. He has quite a bit in common with his father's younger self, including being intrigued by a girl reminiscent of a younger Belle who thinks this spoiled prince just might have potential. In this book, his life get turned completely upside down. Everything he thought he knew is tossed.
Fallon's magic is just perfect and so appropriate for his character, but that's just the beginning. He's got a lot on his plate - trying to figure out how to rule a kingdom, save his friendships, and if he is lucky, warm up the enemies to lovers relationship that tends much closer to enemies that he would prefer. With so much going against him, it is a good thing he has help in some unexpected places as well.
There were a few sweet moments too mixed in with all the excitement that help show just how much Fallon has grown in this short time.
This is book 4 in Fallon's arc, and as with other arcs in the Kingdom of Fairytales series the immediate threats are contained but not all problems are solved. There is another cameo with a group of golden eyed 18 year olds at the end of this book and another journey begun in the quest to defeat the dark. Each character's 4 book arc can be read independently of the other characters' arcs, but within an arc the 4 books must be read in order.
