Adurable: The Great Truck Switcheroo

Rate this book
Cute Pups! Big Trucks! These three puppies must swap their beloved trucks in this original board book that's perfect for toddlers with big building dreams.

Dig Dug, Puddles, and Cheddar have some very important work to do . . . but it seems absolutely impossible to drive some-puppy else’s truck instead of their own beloved truck, but with a lot of teamwork, these pups just might be able to finish their task before snack time.

American children deserve better literature than this.

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a kids book on here before, but I felt compelled to at least put it on the record somewhere that this book is absolute garbage. If you want to read a truly terrible kids book, look no further.

The premise is that the teacher is making cookies and gives the the kids/dogs “busy work” in the form of making them drive trucks they aren’t familiar with to move a pile of dirt across the street. One of my personal pet peeves are kids books that focus on sugary foods, so we were off to a bad start with the first page being about snickerdoodle cookies. The term “busy work” is used at least 4x. The kids/dogs say weird things that don’t really make sense. Who on earth thought this book was something worth publishing? I was angry reading this book.

Comedy gold. The most accurate depiction of toddlers' responses when told there will be cookie baking. Also Cheddar is Phoebe: reading instead of listening and then suckered the teacher into giving him 2 cookies! 🤣

I feel bad that the puppies are tasked with busy work, but I fear that's occasionally a relatable reality. Puppies are cute. Snickerdoodles are cute. Trucks are cute. To be honest, it was sometimes hard to follow who's truck was whose and how they moved the dirt. One thing that might have helped would be for Dig Doug's outfit to be green (instead of orange) to match his truck. Cheddars' outfit and vehicle are orange. And Puddles outfit and truck are blue.

A pretty bland board book. I'm sure plenty of kids will like it but it's not one I'd give as a gift.

I think the Great Truck Switcheroo made the puppies a good team!

My favorite puppy is Puddles because I love dump trucks—and I have one.

It was such a fun book!

Some of the representations of kids were spot on but it was overall just kind of a weird book without much of a plot
