It took way too long to come into her own. She raised her boys and buried her husband, and somewhere along the way she forgot about herself.
Finally she has a second chance at being more than she’s been: by creating an arts center for her charming adopted Irish community. She wants to make a difference, and fostering creativity is right up her alley. Planning a shiny new building to support the art and artists is just the project she’s excited to take on.
There’s just one problem: her sister-in-law, Mary.
Well, the woman is less Bets’ relative and more her nemesis, what with the way Mary’s caused ongoing trouble for the arts center. With the new plans in the making, Mary has her cauldron out and is brewing up more misfortune.
The other not-so-little problem: Linc Buchanan.
Actually, he’s more of a temptation—which is why he’s a problem. Linc’s vowed to help her make the art center happen, and the billionaire cowboy has the gumption and resources to follow through. But he’s lassoed her heart, and Bets can’t help mixing business and pleasure even though common sense says avoid this lovely man with a bad record at love.
With the community and the town’s helpful matchmaking ghost behind them, Bets and Linc might just admit what they’ve wanted all along—each other—as they walk among the roses at twilight and plan to win the fight of their life.

Ava is a former chef, worked as a long-time conflict expert rebuilding warzones to foster peaceful and prosperous communities, and has helped people live their best life as a life coach, energy healer, and self-help expert. She is never happier than when she’s formulating skin care and wellness products, gardening, or creating a new work of art. Hanging with her friends and loved ones is pretty great too.
After years of residing in the States, she decided to follow her dream of living in Europe. She recently finished a magical stint in Ireland where she was inspired to write her acclaimed Unexpected Prince Charming series. Now, she’s splitting her time between Paris and Provence, learning to speak French, immersing herself in cooking à la provençal, and planning more page-turning novels for readers to binge.
I flew thru this story. Ugh that awful Mary, what a bitter unhappy person. Glad things worked out the way they did for Bets and Linc. Can’t wait to see what happens with Jamie.
Book 5 in the series, is the story of Bets and Linc, both in their 60's, proving it's never too late. Bets is a woman who has raised her children and buried her husband. Now she has opened an arts center to encourage young talent and teach classes to members of the Irish community. "Then there is Linc Buchanan. With the community and the town’s helpful matchmaking ghost behind them, Bets and Linc might just admit what they’ve wanted all along—each other—as they walk among the roses at twilight and plan to win the fight of their life." synopsis copied
I liked parts of it, but a few things bothered me:
The villain is getting more vicious and nothing is stopping her. Leaves me with a sour stomach and no real expectation of peace or happy ever after.
I was very upset with Liam when he didn’t pack any clothes in his mother’s bag for her surprise trip with Linc. She’s going to Paris with no warning and only the clothes she already had on. Nothing clean to change into after her trip, so she and Linc could go to dinner or shopping or sightseeing. That’s just cruel! I didn’t find that amusing or romantic in the slightest. Linc laughing just made it worse.
I’m also not a fan of the ghost tormenting Jamie at the end. I don’t find unkindness amusing.
The relationship between Bets and her cowboy has been growing since they met. He swept her off her feet with his dinner invitation when they first met. He stepped aside to give her a chance at love. His patience and friendship paid off as they're now together. But will past mistakes and lessons dogging her every step, can Bets and Linc successfully handle a relationship built on trust, commitment, honesty, and open lines of communication?
When the situation with her sister-in-law escalates, damaging words are spoken and a rift occurs. Can they find their way back to love? Another wonderful story in the Unexpected Prince Charming series by Ava Miles. NOW on to Jamie's book.
So - I was dismayed to find that Bets and Donal were not "meant to be," as they started drifting apart in the previous novel. I had been so happy that two people in their 60s were going to find true love. I actually resented the character of Linc - who was this man who was ruining Bets and Donal's happily ever after? However, after reading Beyond Rosy Irish Twilight, I have decided that perhaps Bets will be happier with billionaire Linc, rather than country-farmer Donal. And Bets and Donal were able to break up and remain friends. So, alls well that ends well, I guess.
If only we could move to this fictional Irish village and truly experience the warmth, beauty and love therein. Having read the series thus far, one feels surrounded by old friends anticipating new adventures. Sincerely, I don’t want to think it will end any time soon. This one was for Bets, the strong, loving and independent woman we strive to be. You go, girlfriend!
This book is much shorter than the others in the series. Much of Bets’ story is included in all the previous books, so this is her big resolution with Linc as her love for the ages. The audiobook was excellent, though I think the add-on fee should have been a little less. The narrator is awesome, so ultimately I had to add it for the full experience. Definitely recommended.
Love knows no age limits. Bet and Linc are the leads in this story of love in their sixties and the winsome ghost who guides them. As a shorter entry in the series, we know the characters more from previous stories than from this one. It was still lovely to see them get their happy ever after.
Loved Bets and Linc's story. The two stubborn people eventually realised they were meant for each other after some help from Sorcha, the resident, ghost. Now looking forward to Jamie's story.
Loved this book. Love all of Ava's books.I was in Dublin a few years back and loved the countryside.. She's an awesome writer. Can't wait for next book.loo!ing forward to Jamie's book
Loved once more visiting the small Irish town and it’s inhabitants who feel like old friends. Can’t wait for the next book to watch Sorcha guide them into a relationship and to see what’s next for the art center. I highly recommend this series.
Ava Miles is a great storyteller! Her style pulls you into the yarn she spins. The characters are lovable and relatable. Cannot wait to continue on the journey!
akeusch@comcast.net. This book details the sexcapeds of two former characters. Aside from the "rose incident", it's all about sex between two characters. Ava usually writes better than this. Kinda boring.
Loved this book it brings two of the principle characters together where they find their forever love. The drama of the jealous evil sister in law continues and the friendly ghost is still getting unsuspecting couples together.
I hate to say I am disappointed that this love connection was not Bets and Donnal. Not a fan of this story line. Wish they would have stayed a couple and Linc found another.
It was great to learn a bit more about Lincoln and see the story unfold. Bets is a fun and vibrant character, and it’s good to see her figuring out what’s really important to her.
So far, as always, the books in this series is a warm and beautiful read. Even though you know what the ending will be there are always enough twists and turns to keep you reading.
I love these books! I only wish they were longer. This one seemed to be shorter than the others - more like a novella. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I love all the books in this series, but this is my fav. I love Betty and Linc's love affair. And I just love how Sorcha makes everyone find their true soulmates. I can't wait for Jamie's book.
This story brings a love to those who think they won't ever have the forever kind of love! ! And a rivalry to scare the whole community. Love these stories!
