The hero of legend doesn’t quite live up to his reputation.
Ben the Dragoncat, who defeated an all-powerful warlock and made history, knows his victory was a complete fluke. After all, warlocks know a lot of magic while Ben has only three tricks…
Fortunately, in times of peace no one seems to mind Ben’s limited power. So long as he avoids using illegal dark magic and behaves the way cats should, he can get along with this world and his dragon just fine.
Alas, everything changes when the warlocks pursue a treasure with the ability to cause a multi-dimensional apocalypse. A desert treasure guarded by a sphinx that seems to be linked to a particularly smelly dog.
If Ben and his motley crew can retrieve the treasure first, then they might just save the day. To do so, Ben will need grace, courage, dragons, and a smattering of magic.

The latest and best story so far in this series of a regular cat in the 4th dimension (Earth) who is transported to the 1st dimension and the adventures he encounters and the humans, dragons and other magical creatures he also encounters during his exciting adventures and quests.
I heartily recommend this book and series to all those who enjoy fantasy and adventure. Ben is a very cocky cat who finds he has been endowed with the ability to communicate with humans, dragons and other sentient beings due to the destiny a crystal bestows on him.
This adventure takes Ben and some of his friends and a dog (no less) through a portal back to the fourth dimension after being banished there by the evil warlocks where he meets a sand cheetah as well as a camel and he and the dog (Max) are both given missions to perform by his crystal.
The battle between good and evil once again comes to play and there is a surprise awaiting readers at the end of the book which will make you eager for the next book to come out to see what is going to happen to the bad guys and who among them may survive!
This is a very enjoyable story once you get past Ben’s arrogance. His dragon tries to impart wisdom to him as does his human mentor and human friends but it takes a long time to sink into his thick head! In this book, however, he seems to finally realize who he is and is more cooperative towards others.
It’s a great escape from the troubles in our country and throughout the world at present so I would encourage you to get this series and enjoy a book about the eternal battle between good and evil which is ongoing to this day no matter where one is or who one is!
**** SPOILER ALERT **** Chris Behrsin takes us back to the Dragoncat universe/dimension in a "A Cat's Guide To Questing For Treasure: Dragoncat, Book 4" the lastest installment of the Dragoncat series. The author does a bang-up job of world building and character development, particularly that of Ben the titular Dragoncat. Behrsin delivers a rollicking tale filled with chills, spills, danger, adventure, and lots of humour. The author brings back a lot of familiar characters from the original trilogy and some new ones to enrich the mix. With the turmoil in our own dimension, I was glad of the respite offered by Behrsin's story. I strongly recommend this book. In the interest of transparency, I edited this book. However, the opinions and viewpoints shared above are my own and I am sharing them of my own free will.
I was granted complimentary eARC access to A Cat's Guide to Questing for Treasure by Chris Behrsin by the author via his ARC team email list. Thanks as always for the access! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
A Cat's Guide to Questing for Treasure is both a continuation of the fantastic tongue-in-cheek humorous fantasy series we read in the original Dragoncat trilogy and the start to a whole new adventure with an extended group of accomplices. We still have an evil prince trying to take over the dimensions. We still have friends under the control of dark magic. We still have the remainder of the usual crew off on an unapproved mission. Added to the adventure is access to new dimensions, new crystal lore, new majestic felines, and a loyal canine friend who will surely remind all familiar with the film Up! of the goofy golden retriever Dug.
This book is a return to 5-star quality for me, after a slip into 4-star territory in book three when things got a little too dark and chaotic for the overall feel of the series in my opinion. Things are still dark and chaotic, but the right balance of dragon and feline sass has returned, and I found the plot easier to follow. I'm not entirely sure if I'm willing to trust all of the new crew members going into book 5, but this new phase of the adventure promises to be epic, and I'm looking forward to it!
Ben goes through a lot of insightful personal growth in this one, and I love how wise he's becoming while still maintaining his cat-like quirks and occasionally misunderstanding things that just don't make sense from a feline point of view.
I love the new lore we get about different dimensions and how the crystals work, and I have to give props for the unique inclusion of Ancient Egyptian mythology without straying too far from the spirit of the original myths.
Dragoncat as a series is certainly not impossible to read out of order, and since this book feels like the start of a new story arc it makes the most sense as a starting point beyond book 1, but be warned that this book does not pause to re-explain lore and plot points already covered in previous books. I still recommend reading these books in order for the best reading experience (though the prequel can be read at any time.)
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of "A Cat's Guide to Questing for Treasure"; this review is entirely voluntary, without renumeration* of any sort.
This is Book 4 in the Dragoncat series; as such, while not absolutely necessary to have read the previous books, there are the occasional references made which assume the first three books have been read (again, these few instances do not fundamentally alter the readability of the book under review).
While most of the main characters haven't changed from the earlier books, we are introduced to a few new ones, and further development of the older characters continues.
As in the prior books, there's lots of action, along with showing the planning and consequences of the actions. Everything flows very nicely; I enjoy this author's writing a great deal.
My recommendation? Read the book, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
*I've always heard and used renumeration, but the Internet states that the correct term is remuneration
I received an advance Reader Copy of this book at no charge, and agreed to leave an unbiased review.
Another fun paranormal adventure from Ben The Cat's POV in the 7 Dimensions universe.
After book 3, we thought (as did Ben) that he and his friends had defeated their worst enemy. Well is book $4 we learn he has another evil enemy who may be more trouble than the evil Astavar. And this enemy is a prince, which makes it harder to get the King's support!
We're also joined by a new character, an obnoxious little dog, who totally fits the stereotype of a non stop yipping little pooch (though one who means well). We also get a Spinx & a talking Cheetah!
We won't find out who wins this battle until at least book 5.
Totally appropriate for little ones, as long as their reading skills are up to it (The author suggests 8-18)
Similar to the others in the series, fun & fast/easy to read.
Like any good young magician Dragoncat Ben learns from his lessons, when he can stay awake through them. But naturally, the peaceful days at the academy can’t last, or there wouldn’t be a story to tell.
As always, an ambitious bad warlock has to try to conquer all, and the Ben finds that he destiny hasn’t finished with him yet either. But did the crystals have to add a dog into the middle of everything? And a dog from Ben’s home dimension no less! Thankfully Ben speaks fluent dog.
As with the previous books of the series time disappears as the adventure draws you in, and you find yourself not wanting to leave the story behind as you go do other things. You have been warned. This book is binge worthy.
Ben only knows one spell … but does it matter anymore, now that the peace treaty has been signed by the warlocks? Ben is looking forward to this peaceful time, reliving his past glories … But on a training exercise, he and the students from Dragonsbond Academy, and some of the teachers are attacked. Will Ben, the cat with delusions of grandeur, and his friends, save the day? Thrown into the mix is a dog, Max, from the Fourth Dimension. Ben has nothing but contempt for dogs … why has Arran brought Max to the First Dimension? This is a fun romp … Looking forward to the next book. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
I love this series. The characters are cute and quirky but not in a Harry Potter way. They're more like a dysfunctional family complete with 3 cats, one dog and multiple dragons. I love the way battle scenes are countered by cute moments. I find myself waiting anxiously for the Dragon cat's take on the battle. Now we have Max's new input and he is adorable. The reason we love dogs is the blind loyalty they bring, but not a lot of cunning. It's awesome!
The characters are fantastic, quirky, and evolving. The plot is convoluted and interesting. The world building is superb. I can't wait to read the next book!
