Read this to get a feel for what HR management is like. Very tedious language (I mean, it's HR), but also very informative.

I don't think I would pursue anything HR management-related.

I believe I picked this one up a couple years ago while contemplating a potential job change. That moment passed, but more recently I thought I could brush up on my HR knowledge in any case. This guide is fine, it does the job, but the way Muller glosses over the areas I know best makes me suspicious of how much he's glossing in the areas I'm less familiar with. There's a bit of tick-the-box mentality here, as opposed to clarifying the underlying principles. Sometimes he gives good context, sometimes not. End result: I found it hard to fully trust that I was learning everything I should know.

Best random detail: An employer doesn't have to pay overtime to workers who make garlands out of evergreens. THERE is a Christmas story that Dickens never could have imagined right there. Come on, Pixar!
