Not A Ghost is the emotionally alluring second book in The Eidolon Chronicles paranormal fantasy series. If you like morally gray characters, fast-paced action, and non-traditional romance, then you’ll adore Auryn Hadley’s twisty tale.
I loved this second book of the Eidolon Chronicles! Everything I have read by Auryn Hadley has been excellent. Not a Ghost is no exception. Stepping away from the reverse harem genre, Hadley has embraced a more fluid, poly relationship style in her newest series.
Brought together by the common desire to see the downfall of the Inquisition, Thane and Dahlia learn to navigate coexisting as friends and lovers instead of enemies. Neither denies their mutual attraction, but they are not ready for serious feelings – Dahlia has just lost her love of over 600 years.
There are additional characters’ POVs added in this book, allowing for a multifaceted view of events, which I loved. I appreciated how she spent time building Thane and Dahlia’s relationship and showed each’s struggles with relinquishing control and the desire to be protective. On the continuum of her other series, Not a Ghost is pretty tame in the heat department – it is spicy, just s3x scenes are not as abundant as in The Demons’ Muse or The Path of Temptation.
Bottom line, I absolutely enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait until the next one is released.
Absolutely love this author. Have read most of her books however I'm really disappointed this series is not yet complete... if it ever will be. Book 2 ends on a huge cliff hanger with no end in sight! Hence only 4 stars.
it lost a star for the cliffhanger and no sequel in sight... However I love the main characters and the chemistry between them. Thank you for writing a bi woman - we do not have enough of those. The plot was not perfect but I love the characters sooo much I can overlook it (gasp). I feel like modern day readers might struggle with this book because even most RH never have sex outside of it. For me I love the open sexuality and might be super duper jealous because I want a setup like this (not because I am jealous as a lover)!! I also wish the author would ease up on the inner monologue filled with anxiety and self doubt - it gets repetitive.
This book was a bit slower and less carnage than book 1 but instead it was more relationship building.
I love that we're slowly seeing the found family. In Auryn fashion these characters are complicated, have faults and they need to think and talk things through a few times. It makes for deep characters and I love it!
As Dahlia and Thane get accustomed to their new life, the Church still lingers with threats over Laird. The young eildon behaving like toddlers isn’t helping the cause and with time brings the attention and wrath of the Church down on them. Eagerly awaiting the third installment. Another Auryn Hadley masterpiece. Solid 5 stars. Highly recommended.
Not a Ghost, the second book of the Eidolon series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). As always, great relationship development between all the characters, although this plot was not as intense as I'd hoped. That said, this author can't write a bad book; I click on many of them without reading the synopsis.
I love the originality of Auryn’s books. There's so much going on that you can't guess what's going to happen next. I love the world building and the characters. Couldn't stop reading until it was finished!
What an interesting world Auryn has created with history in the background. It has been fascinating learning more about the eidolons. What a worthy read which is to be expected of Auryn Hadley. I can't wait for the next book.
