This book is a fast-paced overview of Shogi.
In some fields it gives only very little information and does not go into much depth.

The problems posed in this book are hard though. The correct moves are in the back of the book, but they are not explained usually, so that it is still on you to understand why it is the best solution.

I would advise to have a game board or an engine ready to try out the positions, keeping the moves in mind is challenging.

This is an excellent, slim volume. It covers the basics, some mating problems, a little opening theory, middle game, endgame and some sample games. It is very clearly written.

There are very few books on Shogi that are in English. The others I've found are terrible. This one is not, which makes it the best one. I found that memorizing the games at the end of the book was very useful.
