The Level Up series keeps getting better and better. This fourth installment is the best yet. This is a well written story with what is certainly a well thought out plot line. You've got sex, mystery, romance, intrigue, nerd-craft, and what I anticipate will be true-love, all bound up together in a cohesive strand as tangled as the cables that adorn the covers of each installment. This is truly good stuff!

Unexpected Twist

Dillon has it all- good friends, a gaggle of beautiful women and a real shot at having his game entered into a competition. Except the one person he needs to be happy, and her walls are high. I’ve read the first three books in this series, and this one touched me with its sweetness and the vulnerability of the characters. Well written and full of pop culture references. I enjoyed this book immensely.

This is the penultimate instalment of the Level Up series and I am still enjoying it thoroughly. They are fast and fun reads, that manage to bring a high heat level while still managing to keep a focus on a storyline. Once again, if you have not already read the previous books in the series, please read ahead with caution, as there may be spoilers for books 1-3 in this review.

Dillon is starting to struggle a little now in his new-found role of a Casanova because of his feelings for Suzie. After trying a no-strings attached deal with her, he has realised that it’s not working for him and that he wants all the strings possible in their relationship. I’ve liked Dillon all along but in the previous books in the series, he has always seemed quite passive. The girls throw themselves at him and, sure, he enjoys it, but there is always this sense that he is just following the lead of all the girls. In Dissonant Whispers, he finally starts looking deeper to work out what he wants, and he is starting to act to get what he wants – and that just makes me like him even more!

Suzie is still as reluctant as ever to start a relationship with Dillon though. She has her reasons for not wanting to be in a relationship and, in this book, we do come a little bit closer to working out why that is, but we don’t have the whole story yet. I have my suspicions about what the unknown part of the story is and I am looking forward to reading the last book in the series to see if I am close.

There is still the ongoing situation with the bully which hasn’t yet been resolved and, as he is such a nasty piece of work, I am hoping that he will find himself in a whole lot of trouble in book five. Plus, in Dissonant Whispers, is it Suzie’s birthday and all her friends throw her a surprise birthday party – involving a murder mystery event which was a lot of fun to read. Overall, I am loving this series and, while there is a part of me that NEEDS to find out how the story will end, there is also a part of me that doesn’t want it to end at all.

This series continues to get better and Alexa is now teasing us with pigtails and downright provocative minxes.

It's all coming to a head for book five and I'm really looking forward to reading it.

If you've been reading the previous books, you'll be pleased with the romantic and sexy times progression here and the gaming plot too. The villain I love to hate, is back to be hated some more :D

If I haven't made it clear before, this is absolutely the sort of book those who identify as geeks should be reading. Imagine if your college/university life (whatever you call it where you live) had been as awesome as you imagined it could be? Imagine if you had an awesome gaming group that never let you down and are up for any challenge?

Just some more reasons to read these books. :)

This series is SO MUCH SEXY FUN!!! Seriously, the fun and the drama and the sex all gets better and better as we continue to get to know these character better. Dillon faces plenty of challenges and wins more than he loses, but this is fantasy. I do like that Alexa provides doses of reality including the increasingly complicated relationships he finds himself in. My favorite sex scene doesn't involve the big D directly and it makes me hope Alexa will tackle some lesfic one day. Also, curvy redheads FUCKING ROCK.

Go get this series.

Unexpected Ending

A true romantic is what Alexa Summers really is. I was completely caught off guard by this touching, erotic novella. The mystery party that makes up the bulk of the book had me thinking it was going to be like many of Alex's other erotica books. I found truly three dimensional characters built from the start fleshed out that I genuinely cared about. I connected to the main characters hoping for the best happily ever after. Damn!

The holy grail

Another excellent read and with the additional delight of a Monty python reference. The ingenious ways in which Dillon managed to evade the regrettable hulk never fail to amaze me and as always I am looking forward to the next level.

Smart writer. I am enjoying the game playing, invention of the board game and Uni life. One more book to go.
