First, I am going to say, I don't understand people reading and reviewing erotica if they are turned off by the subject matter. If you don't like erotica, this book is not for you, so don't pick it up to read and then give it a bad review because it offends your sensibilities; the subject matter is clearly stated...you were warned. So, if you've read the bad reviews...ignore them and judge for yourself.

Now, on to my review...

Unlike so many erotica novels that I have read, and yes...there have been plenty of them (don't judge me,) this one actually has a good story to it. It's not JUST erotica. Ms. Somners has actually given us well developed characters that are easy to relate to; well, okay...easy for this card-carrying geek to relate to on a personal level and a well-developed and interesting story line that involves....da da da daaaaaa....the gaming community! (Gamers prarie-dog from the cubicles everywhere, sensing a shift in the force at those words.)

Erotica is so often laden with testosterone laden alpha males with muscles bulging so much they threaten to rip open their own shirts if they move wrong and perfect little females. I absolutely love that this series includes characters that I could easily imagine seeing at PyCon or Adobe conferences....people that just don't typically fit the "erotica" stereotype. Thank you for that Ms. Somners!

For once the nerd has women fighting over HIM! We now have Geekotica!

I absolutely loved this series! It's a really fast read; you could easily read through one of the books in the series sitting by the pool....or just indulge yourself and hunker down and make it through the whole series easily in a day.

Either way, you are going to enjoy the story that goes along with the very steamy moments...and that, right there...gets this a full five stars from me for this genre. At last, erotica with substance!! This blogger will certainly be on the lookout for more books from this author!

I'm pleasantly surprised by this series. Admittedly, erotica is not a genre with which I am very familiar, but if the Level Up series is indicative of the sort of quality of the entire genre, then I've been missing out.

Some of the characters are a bit one-dimensional at times, and the euphemisms are a bit repetitive, but the prose it solid. Better, there's a pretty touching story to be found behind the sex. It's not just about geek culture and the exploration of things I wish happened to me in college; there's friendship, moments of tenderness, unresolved trauma, self-exploration, jealousy, and other themes Sommers tackles with a unique brand of tongue-in-cheek humor and sensuality.

Overall, I'm incredibly impressed and absolutely recommend this series for readers who don't shy away from explicit sexual descriptions and are looking for a well-paced, sometimes tense, feel-good (hehe) story. I hope it surprises you as much as it surprised me.

As a lifelong gamer and geek, Level Up felt like it was written specifically for me- though anyone could easily enjoy it. The characters are all real and distinct with voices that feel genuine and backstories that inform their decisions. They are all people you would want to spend the night playing AD&D with... before doing other things with.
Level Up is smart erotica that is as engaging as it is sexy. During the hot scenes, I found myself excited about the next gaming session and during the chats, I couldn’t wait until the clothes came off. Being in a constant state of desire (to turn the page) is what I want as a reader and Alexa Sommers knows exactly how to keep you engaged. Her encyclopedic knowledge of nerd culture (and Tupac quotes) is amazing and every reference brought a smile to my face. I can’t wait to read more from this talented author!

Really great and rewarding series

This a slow burn story that really hits a satisfying conclusion. It's a fun read whether or not you're a gamer, but if you are, the endless pop culture references are both clever and rewarding.

Level Up

My gosh. This was a great series and I love how it all came together in the end. Is there a sequel to this complete series. Hopefully the Stud and pixie got further along and into the magical picket fence, dog and little house with multiple beds.
