October 15, 2022Book 3 of The Blood Witch Saga was exciting! We had all the usual characters, with some more thrown in. We all know I love when we get some other series' character coming to visit each other! Pauli, Annabelle, Joni, and her wyrms. Love it!!!
Corbin loves Hailey and wants her to love him back. So what's a little blood drinking, dragon making when you just want to be loved.... and take over the world. This one has all the elements a great Theophilus book has. Magic, Vampires, Jokes, and some love. Oh and a cliffhanger that is going to take us into TWO books in a crossover I am SUPER excited for!
5 stars, must read, and if you haven't read more of this series and the others.... You have to!!! I recommend ALL of them, but Voodoo Queen will always be #1 (for now) to me.

This novel puts a very different spin on the dragonrider fantasy. Which dragons would you want to ride? Water or fire? Team Joni or Team Corbin? What a choice! The author gave us another thrilling roller coaster ride of a story, but he does have some lovely scenes and lines. My favourite scene? Pow -right in the kisser! Best line? "Sometimes the real heroes are the villains and the villains are the heroes." A surprisingly fun though dark read and great for fans of Steve McHugh.

What I really enjoyed is the fact that, even in its most suspenseful, dire moments, the book is not very dark. Hailey's inner dialogue is entertaining - well, all the dialogue is.
She doesn't think of herself as being a hero, she just acts in the interest of all good things like it's the only way to go. Like:
"The world needs tropes. People have a need to see things in terms of good and evil. It helps them sleep at night. Sometimes, though, the real heroes are the villains and the villains are the heroes."
The plot is interesting, the writing is good and I look forward to reading the next books by this author.

I have really enjoyed this series. The narrator has grown on me and had done a good job of bringing the characters to life. I look forward to more by this author.

You are in for another wild ride with Theophilus Monroe's new urban fantasy/paranormal book/audiobook, Devils and Dragons. D&D is Book 3 in the delightful THE BLOOD WITCH SAGA. Once again we join book nerd and blood witch influencer, Hailey Bradbury. Hailey cavorts through another episode in New Orleans as she continues her battle to self distance from the cupid-pricked Vampire King and at the same time keep him from destroying the World.
Monroe - King of the Vampire Witch World Builders himself - reunites us with Joni Campbell from Druidess. Joni is now the Queen of Fomoria and the mer-people. Yup, you got it. We go underwater for this installment of THE BLOOD WITCH SAGA. Joni's wyrmriders (dragons and their handlers that submerge, as well as fly) become a significant part of the plot. Hailey learns to ride. As she connects with her wyrm, Drayke, we learn these dragons can also talk!
Devils and Dragons offers an almost 'real time feel' as the story unfolds. We move with Hailey from one action-packed & harrowing event to the next, as she tries to figure out what the Vampire King will do next. Old friends and foes resurface. Of course, Mercy Brown and Annabelle Mullady figure into the fray. There's even the possibility of a new love interest - with fins! And as the situation becomes dire, the measures required of Hailey and Friends to turn the tide away from disaster become intense. Dragon attacks, magical spells, and potent blood energies abound as Hailey attempts to get the situation under control. You can rest assured there is the perfect amount of ornery humor and a healthy dollop of Monroe's refreshing take on contemporary culture. (Two of the reasons I so enjoy recording Hailey and friends.)
I really feel like I hit my recording groove for THE BLOOD WITCH SAGA with this third audiobook. Hailey and I are definitely in sink. We also had a lot of fun in the studio creating the effects for the mystical incantations and not-so-heavenly bodies that appear. We wanted to be sure to give just the right bit of pizzazz to these bewitching encounters without getting in the way.
The audiobook for GHOULS AND GRIMOIRES is up next for Hailey and company. Theo tells me we should be working on it very soon. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to find out what happens to Team Hailey next!

Monroe is back and has brought Hailey with him once more, not stopping at that but adding “Devils and Dragons” to the rows of supernaturals already haunting 😉 us: Wolves, Witches, Vampires and Voodoo all around 😊 and I finally got it, yeah to my utmost perplexity I must confess that I missed that hint, but in my defense: Voodoo is a fundamental part of this series, vampires and wolves are never that far from another, and witches are ever-present, thus it wasn’t until I got to “Devils and Dragons” that I got the joke, I am the only one? If not, do not despair, the next instalment (and those to come) would make it fully clear. Monroe has a way with words, that expands further much further that the actual story 😊
After confronting the coven and Corbin (previous book) for their role in enslaving the wolves, Hailey’s life has – if only – become even more ‘complicated’, but this only a taste of what it’s to come after a dragon comes to town. To be perfectly clear Hailey tried to steer away from the trouble, but with no one taking care of the ‘problem’ - yes you guessed it 😊 – it becomes Hailey problem to solve, and solve she does, successfully, perhaps too successfully, finding her new favourite ‘drink of choice’ in the process.
“The Blood Witch Saga” is the latest addition to Monroe’s original “Gates of Eden” verse which loosely borrows Arthurian tropes and transfer them organically into a modern urban fantasy that spans centuries, crossing realms and blurs the boundaries between reality and legend and transforms them into a veritable smørrebrød of action, unexpected twists, wonderful characters and mind-blowing descriptions, garnished with a good dose of magic some sprinkles of mythical lore and some paranormal romance on the side, and served with very well-crafted, with an accurate world building, interesting characters, captivating writing style and carefully editing. Monroe’s ‘Gates of Eden’ verse is populated by a vast number of extraordinary characters, which are (unless very subjectively) almost impossible to rank, but all beware! Hailey is aiming for the top of the food chain already 😉

Mr. Monroe has a way of writing that I really connect with. It’s engaging and entertaining but there’s always a handful of wonderful little nuggets of brilliance throughout each book, and this one is no different. I don’t like talking directly about the storyline to avoid accidental spoilers, but I also can only sing my praise to the author so many times originally before it start’s to sound canned, and that’s not my goal. This book is everything that Mr. Monroe’s other books are, and if you’re on this book, you already know you want to keep going, so just grab your copy, you’re already here.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.

Hailey is back once again for more great adventures. Hailey is a witch that was turned into a vampire when she was just a teenager. Now she has been introduced to a new umm, how should I say this, umm, a new snack, meal, food, or maybe a new drink or whatever. Hailey’s new favorite drink is dragon blood. She can’t seem to get enough of it but the thing is dragon’s blood is not that easy to come by.
But Hailey has other more pressing matters on her hand at the moment. Yeah, a few of her friends are missing. Where can they be? Did someone take them? What has happened to her friends? Are they in danger? Can Hailey find them before it is too late?
Hailey finds or meets a new friend or at least she probably hopes this new guy is going to be a friend as he is one hot dude according to her. Hailey’s new friend is a little out of his element in her world as he is like a fish out of water you could say. I really enjoyed reading about the first time Hailey laid eyes on this new dude. I loved the conversation about the new guy when he was introduced in the story.
Devils and Dragons is a fast-paced read and just as good if not better than the two books before it. I love all the characters and the world that was created for The Blood Witch Saga. I can’t seem to get enough of this world and definitely can’t wait to read more to see where Hailey’s little adventures take her next. I can’t wait to meet more people in Hailey’s world.

I love how the author brings characters from prior books in every book. I'm never sure which one or rather, ones, are going to appear. It's always completely relevant to the storyline, never random and I confess to mumbling "oh yay" to myself when they appear. As always, I DO have to mention the humour. It's the author's writing style and although I know the humour will be present, it catches me off guard each time, delightfully so. Love the creativity and the magic, the transformation of the wyrms into dragons.
They say love is blind and one would do anything for love, (no I'm not quoting Meatloaf!) but goodness does Corbin take that sentiment literally! He plans on achieving world dominance, just to get Hailey to love him back, ok, maybe not ONLY for Hailey, he's off his rocker and old, really old, like 700 years old. It adds a new meaning to "what can I do that I haven't in the past few centuries" Stopping Corbin is of paramount importance before he releases hell on earth, and that's quite literal!
The characters, as always are well described, their personalities vividly different, from Anabelle to Joni to the delightful Zane. And a bit of Connor thrown in. A love triangle perhaps? Loved Hailey's "human" reaction to Zane and Connor is a firm favourite.Oh my word do I love Pauli! His off the cuff comments are so comical, his entire being is a delight, visually and verbally.
This book is my favourite of the series so far, the plot expanding beautifully from previous books, a clearer picture emerging with each consecutive book but the ending floored me!!! I screamed "NO" out so loudly I frightened my cat! I need to get the next book immediately! This nefarious plot HAS to be thwarted!

Monroe’s stories only continue to get better!
Corporate America is very fond of the “continuous improvement cycle,“ as a buzzword… Very seldom does it ever materialize as a real thing. Theophus Monroe, however, has managed to do just that, and repeatedly!
Unless I wasn’t clear, I’ll be blunt: You will love this series! This and the Cain series are simply amazing and demonstrate huge growth in his craft. Now, I’ll say that you can read these unattached to anything else he’s written, but these are actually part of the larger Eden Gates saga.
To be honest, I wasn’t nearly as impressed with his writing in those earlier books, but the stories themselves were just amazing and kept me hooked until now when I would read his stuff even if the story sucked. But thankfully it doesn’t. I am still in awe at how he craft such a convoluted, time twisty, surprise riddled tale and somehow keep all the pieces aligned so that it all fits together when you least expect.
Let me be clear, to date we talking are about 6 interconnected series made of 32 individual books! That’s a LOT to hold together in one coherent whole, and he does so with wit and style. NOW, I feel quite comfortable saying he also does so with elegance. It is such a pleasure to see an author who has given me such pleasure in reading evolve in this way.
I started this “midstream,” so to speak, with the 5th series of books. You can start anywhere, without getting lost. But o suggest you start at the beginning to get the whole effect. ENJOY!

This one is filled with twist and turns not only in the main storyline but in Hailey's love life as well. It has telepathy, tension, drama, etc. If you're not familiar with Theophilus Monroe's Wyrmrider series, this gives a good look into that as well.
Hailey, Mercy, Mel and Sarah start out in the middle of the ocean so Hailey can train to ride Drayke. He's a beloved wyrm underwater but a dragon above. Zale is her trainer and his wyrm is Smauk. The "fun" ensues when they all decide to go back to NOLA and train at the swamp. Hailey and Zale ride Drayke through a portal straight to the swamp while Mercy drives her hearse back with Sarah and Mel. However, Mercy and the girls never make it home.
With Hailey and Zale stuck for the day, the star studded supporting cast is called in to help. That would be Annabelle, Pauli and even Alexandra. There's also a surprise appearance by none other than Connor.
I won't spoil the meat and potatoes of the book but suffice it to say..........it's fantastic!!!! It does end on a cliffhanger of epic proportion so be prepared.
Words can't express how much I recommend this book and whole series. Theophilus Monroe has never disappointed me and I'm sure he won't disappoint you either. If you want a fast paced read, buy now.

When our heroine has to deal with a dragon problem, she finds that they offer her unprecedented power. Of course, there is also a downside and it is a real kicker. Power is addictive and she could easily loose herself in that...
This is book three of the series. It works rather well as a standalone with all the essential bits covered early on. You will be missing some of the backstory, but nothing essential to enjoying this book. That being said, after reading this one, you will want to go back for the earlier ones anyway.
This is an urban fantasy story with witches, vampires and more. The story is well written and easy to read, but at the same time it is also rather deep and complex. The setting is well developed with lots of details that provide new twists all the time. Similarly, the characters are well done with distinct personalities and often conflicting goals. All of it combines with a fast paced plot that is full of action, intrigue and mystery. Overall, this was a great story and I definitely need to go back for the earlier books.

This is book three of the series. It works rather well as a standalone with all the essential bits covered early on. You will be missing some of the backstory, but nothing essential to enjoying this book. That being said, after reading this one, you will want to go back for the earlier ones anyway.
This is an urban fantasy story with witches, vampires and more. The story is well written and easy to read, but at the same time it is also rather deep and complex. The setting is well developed with lots of details that provide new twists all the time. Similarly, the characters are well done with distinct personalities and often conflicting goals. All of it combines with a fast paced plot that is full of action, intrigue and mystery. Overall, this was a great story and I definitely need to go back for the earlier books.

Original premise but not the writers strongest book
I always try to write a review without giving away spoilers but in this case it's a little bit difficult. Let ‘s see. The characters are relatable, but they are also very powerful, especially when main- and secondary characters from the different series team up. This probably makes it very hard to create a worthy adversary. In this book its the same adversary as the previous and it's already partly known what his extra skills are. It looks to be quite a feat to defeat him and I was really looking forward to reading this story.
However this was promply countered by the appearance of a secondary character of a different series. So instead of an underdog situation it became more or less a chess game race against the clock.
The helper in question is of the race of the fomoire, and in this book they are merpeople. This took me some getting used to, since the fomoire I am familiar with, from celtic mythology (irish) are quit different; ugly and evil.
The end is kind of ant- climatic but has some promise of a big problem and a worthy adversary for the next book in this series

The end of the last book was shocking and obviously leads to the events of this one... Dragons being the main creature in this book along with a few other types of friends.
Hailey must stop what is going to happen now Corbin has access to a new level of power and drinking dragon blood awakens a hunger she has never had.
Connor has been drawn back in to help the group defeat Corbin in his crazy plan for domination with his unwilling future queen.
This story is heated, fantastical, creative, talented, witty, sad and completely heart pounding in its action.
I have never once been disappointed reading a book by this author and can guarantee the adventure is far from over.

Hailey Bradbury's back and learning to fly a dragon with the Fomorian Wyrmriders (from an earlier Monroe series). She's also enjoying herself the sight of some tasty merfolk, but not as a snack for this bloodwitch vampire. She's getting ready to battle Corbin in his new form. Only her friends disappear on the way home one night after a wyrm/dragon riding session.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Corbin has an evil plan. Hailey must act quickly, undetected, to stop his plan from happening. Problems arise when her 3 friends go missing, leaving their clothes behind buckled in the seats of their car. It’s a race against time as her friends are found, but changed, by Corbin into dragons to do his bidding She has to save them, but how. The plot will have your attention from the start and keep it with breath holding scenarios, nail biting moments and unexpected alliances as a rescue is carried out. Will they get there in time or will Corbin unleash a new kind of hell?

Devils and Dragons (The Blood Witch Saga Book 3), my thirty-second read from author Theophilus Monroe. Theophilus Monroe has become one of my favorite authors this year. Well written & enjoyable read, the third in his new Blood Witch Saga series. I was given an Audible copy of this book (and own a Kindle copy as well so I could read along while being read to) & am voluntarily reviewing it. Kelley Hazen’s narration adds to the book’s enjoyment. I look forward to Ghouls and Grimoires (The Blood Witch Saga Book 4), the next book in this series when it comes out in October. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

This book is full of paranormal action and one of my favorite lines ever – “vamps don’t get invited to a lot of housewarmings. You know, once they invite you in and all…” I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

But along the way she's developed a taste for dragon/wyrm blood, though it does come with useful side effects. But Corbin's plans will take a lot to defeat and Hailey will need all of her friends.
A great read with vampires, witches, shifters, dragons and voodoo; there's action, drama, magic and some great twists. I look forward to reading the next in the series, "Gouls & Grimoires".

This story keeps getting better. The action and drama was outstanding. The characters were great. The more you read about Hailey the more you like her and want to know more about her. I have fell in love with the characters and this whole world that the author has built. The book has great world building and just sucks you in. The narrator does a wonderful job with the characters and makes the story pop and come alive. Can’t wait for the next one. Highly recommend. I received this with a promo credit but this is my honest review.

I received Devils and Dragons (The Blood Witch Saga #3) by Theophilus Monroe through StoryOrigin and am now giving an honest review. I totally enjoyed this book that also had a few laughs along the way. In this book Corbin has consumed dragon blood and can now turn into one. Along with using Magic, Hailey is training with the Wyrmriders to take him down. But there's something darker and scarier than dragons involved. Can Hailey and her allies stop him or will Corbin unleash hell on earth? This great book. along with the first two books of the series, is available on Amazon

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very enjoyable. Hailey is dragon hunting. A dragon that is also the vampire king, Hailey being a smart witch knows she needs her own dragon to ride. What could be cooler then a dragon riding vampire witch? Not much, except for hanging out with merman also riding dragons. Interesting characters and suspenseful, fast moving plot will keep you listen until the end. This is a very enjoyable series that just keeps getting better.

The third instalment of the series continues on its tracks, with a new problem in town. I really like the dynamics between the main characters and their interactions. More than that, you get to thing of real-life problems in this allegorical settings, and I really enjoy the way things are dark but it's kept light so that you can keep your heart somewhat protected (though you may loose it to some characters!).
If you like vampire, voodoo and witches, just pick up the entire series!.

This was hilarious towards the end. Watch out for the visual of "sucking something" you don't want in your mind. Hailey, Mercy, Mel, Sarah, Annabelle and Joni are a55 kicking heroines. They find themselves in a lot of trouble but have a hilarious time getting out. With a few butts kicked along the way. Yea!! A crossover with Cain's story and Hailey's story.

You will not be disappointed in the 3rd book. We have adventure and more, oh don't forget you will laught cant have book by Theophilus without laughter. Follow Hailey as she tries to stop Corbin. Oh don't for get there is another hot guy. Will he take Hailey by the heart and leave Connor in the wind? Read to find out what will happen in this section of the story.
