This book had two short stories. The first one wasn't bad but I didn't like the second one. This author has better books than this, though I do like how she includes actual historical events that I wouldn't know about otherwise, like in the one how the Cherokee were spilt apart by the Civil War.

This novel was a 2-part story. Each part was about women trying to come to terms with their situation during the Civil War. The first part was about a nurse aiding Indians while they try to escape being caught in the middle between the North and South ... and was a very enjoyable read. The second part was a woman needing money due to losing her home during the war ... and therefore selling information to "the other side" ... not as good as part one but a quick read.
